Every time my daughter comes to town to visit, we celebrate with a few dishes from Coal Mine Dragon. My favorite is their combo fried rice. It suits my palate to perfection.

Dude!!! The egg drop soup was amazing and I love everything else!!!
I've lived in the area for about a year and coal mine dragon has become our go to Chinese spot. They are always pleasant when picking up food and have even called me ensure that I get the food I wanted and am happy with my meal.
This has been our go-to spot for almost a year now & never disappoints! I was suprised when I read all the bad reviews but everything we get is delicious!

I used to be a faithful customer of this Coal Mine location but due to an obvious degradation in both food quality and service over the past 6 months or so, I will never again dine at this restaurant. My last straw was the absolutely atrocious service my wife and I received from our waitress last night. She repetitively ran her fingers through her hair before handing our entrees. Her attention to cleanliness and proper hygiene was non existent. She didn’t smile one time and in fact made us feel like we were a burden. If you enjoy mediocre food quality and exceptionally bad customer service, this Coal Mine is perfect for you. I hope ownership/management takes this review seriously.

Door dash orders are never done on time.
Drivers don't get paid by the hour. They get paid by the delivery. If I have to wait 15 or 20 minutes (after I arrive) for the order to finished, then I've lost anywhere from 5 - 10 dollars.

Before the pandemic I was a regular customer here for years. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. But everything has changed. The prices have nearly double and the quality of the food has gone down hill.
I have been back twice since the pandemic had ended. Once about 2 years ago and again tonight. I was disappointed 2 years ago but thought I'd give it another shot since I used to love it so much.
Tonight I ordered the general tso's chicken and chicken fried rice. This cost me over $30, it used to be under $20. This is what I have regularly ordered for years from this place. I get prices go up, but with that I expect at least the same quality. The quality is just not there any longer. The chicken in the general tso's chicken was super tough and chewy. The flavors were not as bright as I remembered. Zero spice. The chicken fried rice was nearly flavorless and the chicken in it was also chewy. So disappointed that this tasteless food cost me $30+.
It saddens me to see a favorite place like the Coal Mine Dragon go down hill. I think Panda Expess is much better at this point and half the price. At least PE has flavor and their meat is not chewy and stringy.
I doubt I will be back to Coal Mine Dragon any time soon. It's just too $$$$ for what you get.
Too bad, this had been a West Side hot spot for years. Now , I'll not recommend this place to anyone.

This restaurant with the same me name was on KRDO13 but i'm not sure if this location and the 8th Street location are related. The news report said they failed health inspections with numerous violations including using cardboard boxes that had raw chicken in them to store cooked chicken, mouse droppings, . Go google the 8th street location KRDO13 restaurant roundup.
Delicious food, prompt service, and fair prices!

Disappointed Longtime Customer
I’ve been coming to Coal Mine Dragon since I was in middle school, and now in my 30s, I can honestly say this place used to be one of the best spots for Chinese food in town. Over the years, I’ve had countless meals here and was always met with warm, attentive customer service and consistently delicious food. Sadly, that no longer seems to be the case.
In the past six months, I’ve eaten here twice, hoping things would improve, but both visits left me disappointed. The food quality has noticeably gone down—the flavors aren’t the same, and it feels like the ingredients are cheaper or not as fresh as they used to be. Something just feels off, and it’s not what I remember or expect from a place I once loved.
The service has also declined. I used to be greeted with a smile and genuine conversation. Now, the staff barely interacts or makes an effort. It feels rushed and impersonal, which is a big change from the friendly atmosphere I grew up with.
It’s honestly heartbreaking to write this because Coal Mine Dragon has been a part of my life for so long. I truly hope they take the feedback seriously and make some changes—both in the kitchen and with their customer service—so the restaurant can return to the high standard it once had.

For years a very good place to get a wonderful meal at fair price and better than average service. Some food portions smaller than in the past. Serving Brown rice would be wonderful ! 😋

The WORST FOOD EVER!!!
And the customer service is worse than the food! No one takes responsibility it’s your fault for ordering the wrong food! Duh! It’s the menu! KungPao Chicken and you know it’s really bad when your dog won’t eat it either!

Incompetent woman at the front messed up my order, and charged me for the previous patrons tab.
Food was mid, below mid. And their Mongolian beef is simply, incorrect. There was no celery.
This place is a joke. Pretty sure there is better china food in the springs within a mile.
But no, no, I would not recommend.
Also my card was charged 2x.
