I have always very much enjoyed eating at Pueblo Viego, 5598 N Academy Blvd, so I was very surprised about my experience at the Pueblo Viejo at 310 So. Academy. A few days ago I went to this restaurant with a group of friends. I ordered chicken enchiladas. But the shredded chicken was so tough that I could not chew it. I told our server about this problem and said maybe I'd have to take the meal home and put it in my crockpot to try to tenderize the chicken. I never experienced chicken being so tough and I asked some of my friends about it. I learned that cooking chicken too long makes it tough to eat. The friend sitting next to me also showed me that he had left a lot of his chicken on his plate because of the same issue. I expected some kind of discussion regarding this issue with the kitchen, but when the bills were being given to us, the server simply gave me a togo container and handed me my bill. Since I had just joined this group, I didn't want to cause an issue. So I paid my bill and took my food (which I have since thrown away) home. Had I been by myself, I would have spoken to the kitchen and required some type of compensation. But in this case I let it go. Needless to say, I will not be found in this restaurant again.

I’ve been coming here with my girlfriend for a while now and I’m honestly so surprised to never see anyone there every time we go! Our waitress Rosie is always so sweet and attentive. It’s always very clean and our food comes out super fast. The food is pretty good and you save a couple bucks by going for their lunch specials which is a pretty good portion of food. I really hope this place gets the attention it deserves some day because they really do deserve it.

The food used to be really good here. Something has changed, food was very bland. Queso tasted like melted cheese slices. Need to add some flavor to the fajitas.

While the outside might cause concern, which is unfortunate, inside the food and service was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive, the food was served quickly, and was delicious. This is a classical family TexMex style restaurant that serves inexpensive large portions, and the Margaritas were great! I would not hesitate to eat here again.

This is our place to go when we need low key atmosphere, it's beautifully decorated and welcoming. The owners and staff are so friendly. The food is tasty, delicious. My man absolutely loves this place!

Very disappointed that my fish salad with 'tropical fruit' was nothing more than canned fruit cocktail. For $14.95 come on.

Horrible! Waitress forgot my food not once, but twice. When she finally brought my meal, my family was done. Also what she brought me was NOT even what I ordered. I was sharing with my baby, so he was cranky because we had no food and honestly I should have just canceled it because it tasted awful. 0/0 🌟

Basic Mexican Food. Nothing stands out.

Pueblo Viejo is hands-down one of the best spots for authentic Mexican food in town. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and the kind of cozy, family-friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home.

The food is consistently fresh and full of flavor. The chips and salsa are a great start—crispy, well-seasoned chips and salsa with just the right amount of kick. Their tacos are fantastic (especially the carne asada), and the enchiladas are loaded with flavor and smothered in rich, savory sauces. Portions are generous, and everything is clearly made with care.

Service is fast and friendly, and the staff really go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch or sitting down for a full dinner with friends or family, Pueblo Viejo delivers every time.

I ordered 3 dishes on doordash and was shocked how spicy two of them were. The beans were edible but the rice and spinach burrito were too spicy for me. And I normally like spicy. The queso tasted like plastic.
