I ordered oat milk in my coffee today, and when I got my drink I double checked with staff to confirm it was oat milk and they said yes. I'm dairy free because my infant has a dairy allergy and he's breastfed. Well, he's been sick all evening as if got dairy. This was the only thing I've had besides food I make at home, so no other possible places of exposure. Please take dietary restrictions more seriously, it's not just preference.

Great little spot for coffee! The coffee itself was excellent and service was wonderful. I was visiting from out of town and the baristas gave some great recommendations, and were friendly, asking about my trip so far and giving recommendations about other areas to check out. The barista also went out of her way to bring me my car keys when I accidentally left them at the counter! Loved sitting outside on the patio as well. Will definitely come back next time I am in the springs!

Switchbacks delivers a solid coffee experience. The Ethiopian espresso had bright, fruity notes upfront, finishing slightly pasty but still enjoyable and well-prepared.

On the food side, I tried their OG bagel sandwich:very fresh, nicely seasoned. The avocado toast, which was delicious and thoughtfully made. My only critique would be adding another sunny-side egg to balance the toast. That said, the food feels overpriced, especially at $11.50 for a bacon, egg, and cheese, which is hard to justify if you’re used to NYC standards.

What I really love is their pay-it-forward drip coffee board a genuine community touch.

Plenty of seating, not overly crowded, and while the space could use more decor to feel warmer, it’s still a comfortable café to enjoy good coffee.

I've tried to avoid writing this, thinking every time I come in that my last trip was a one off.

It's local so I desperately want them to be good, but yesterday I went and got a cup of drip coffee (over $5 a cup?) That came out barely warm. The barista said they aim for 190 degrees but I've sat in hot springs warmer.

Additionally, they told me they don't serve sugar. No packets or anything. They do have a mountain of stevia, but why not sugar? Especially when they charge you 75 cents for some brown sugar syrup? There's no principle behind it, they just aren't fully serving their customers.

The plants are all dying as well. Last time I was there I filled a cup with water and gave a couple a drink. It's sad.

The best part is a generally friendly staff. There needs to be better communication with them, though because no one likes cold coffee.

Fantastic local coffee shop with vegan brunch and lunch items!

I’m a complete coffee snob and proud of it. I have my go-to spots and am usually a little nervous to try new spots because they often disappoint. The food and coffee at Switchback was perfect. I got the avocado toast with no egg. It was creamy, flavorful, and the bread was delicious. The coffee made my heart happy. Lovely texture, great balance of flavor, and not too acidic. I often find coffee shops go with really fruity and what my palate translates as acidic coffee. I prefer a darker roast with notes of chocolate and toffee. I left a happy camper!

The setting wasn’t relaxing but nonetheless enjoyable. The patio and entire coffee shop was packed the day I went, which I think is a norm for this place. Lots of pups on the patio, too!

Service here was good. Everyone was friendly, food and coffee came out quickly, and it all tasted top notch. I’d absolutely go back when I’m in Colorado Springs and would definitely recommend to others!

This place used to be a must visit. A few years ago it was lively. It had plants cascading everywhere, it had a variety of tasty foods for carnivore to vegan. But things had only changed for a negative over the years. Plants are just dead sitting on shelves or gone. The food options are now “grab-and-go” with a limited timeframe to have the kitchen cook and few options to select from that menu. The food has cut so many corners. Special aspects like “pickled onions” are gone. Garnish is skipped. The breads are basic.

The “grab-and-go” options are bland. They suggest that they sandwich has “oven roasted turkey” but it is just deli meat. They are cold, flavorless.

I spent approximately $90 for a meal for three that was worth throwing in the garage.

I hope management can hear these cost are creating a negative experience, but I don’t think I would even be back at this point to see what they are doing anymore. This place is no longer with the treat.

Expensive, runs out of everything, no cold brew (they just pour drip coffee over ice)

Fantastic local neighborhood coffee shop with the ambiance and hospitality you crave. Curated selection of loose leaf teas as well as great coffee and matcha etc. Pastries, avocado toast and breakfast sandwiches make it a great brunch spot. I was lucky enough to go on Saturday for their french toast weekend special! Superb patio as well as light and airy in door tables for groups small to large make this a great neighborhood or in the area place to grab a drink and a quick bite.
