Maybe I came on a bad day, but it didn’t live up to the hype.
Food was great, service was good, however the environment didn’t feel clean or well cared for. Street parking in the city means you pay for the time you spend, and this spot to study, work, or meet with people is not ideal.
I’d take the food to-go next time, the Wild Goose panini was delicious. The building itself needs some deep cleaning/ light repairs to feel more comfortable in my opinion

LABOR EXPLOITATION

When I first got hired at Wild Goose I was told I did not have a shift break because of short staffing. I asked the general manager (GM) at the time how that was possible when the Colorado State Labor Law requires a 10 minute break for a 4 hour shift and a 30 minute break for a 5 hour shift. I was working 7 hour shifts at the Goose with no break. The GM told me it was mentioned to the owners and a message was sent claiming we are understaffed so a break might look like “15 minutes” sometimes with customer flow. They also stated the issue would be solved once the Goose hired a new GM. I continued to work at the Goose for 2 months. During these 2 months there were multiple weeks where I did not take a break. I am in my early 20s and have never had issues with my joints. During my employment at the goose I started experiencing daily knee pain. I would wear my most comfortable and supportive sneakers to work and still had to buy insoles for my shoes, a knee brace, and a hot/icy cream. I was on my feet for 7 hours straight at the goose and my knee was feeling the consequences. At the last team meeting I attended, Abbey, the mayors wife, stated that they have other occupations of more relevance outside of the Goose. Closely after the GM and Abbey both stated that the Goose should be employee’s number one priority and if it is not they will hire other people. A confusing message considering the owners themselves are not prioritizing the Goose. Later in the meeting the GM and Abbey stated they want the Wild Goose to be welcoming and a place for everyone. They stated they want all people to feel comfortable there. Abbey said she wants Christian’s, queer people, and someone covered in head to toe swastikas to be welcomed. There was a big emphasis on the Goose being a meeting house where every paying customer is comfortable. Towards the end of the meeting I mentioned our lack of breaks. The GM had worked all my shifts with me that week and took no notice of the fact I had not taken a singular break. Other team members mentioned having a similar experience. The Mayor’s wife suggested I work on time management. When I stated it was not my time management skills but the amount of work I have. I also stated they want everyone to feel comfortable and the Goose but I do not because I am not receiving my break. No solution was offered but an excuse and request for time to think about how a break can be implemented into the shift. During the meeting another employee asked if we could have a time frame and the owners hesitated and ultimately did not answer the question. The team meeting ended and I stayed behind to talk about how we could implement breaks. During this conversation I was firm in saying I refused to work another shift without my legal break. I was told it was clear I was “upset” and was repeatedly told to be patient. They were clearly aware that we had not been receiving our breaks because I had worked multiplied shifts with the GM. They also refused any solution I offered to make our LEGAL break possible. When I asked if I could know how long employees would have to work without their legal break, they asked me to be patient with them. As a woman of color, it is very clear to see how these white owners were placing the aggressive stereotype onto me. Abbey, the mayors wife, told me that if I couldn’t handle the workload for the week she would take my shifts. I responded to her by saying, “that’s not what I mean, I need my shifts, I just want my legal break”. She ended that conversation by telling me, “and I’m saying if you don’t feel comfortable here and can’t handle the work load I can cover your shifts.” Essentially threatening to fire me for pointing out how they are breaking the law and exploiting their employees. I no longer work at Wild goose due to this threat and the exploitation I experienced. I am unsure if their employees have breaks now but this was my experience.

Delicious well balanced coffee, smooth matcha latte, and fabulous ambiance. The playlist is very chill and the breeze on a sunny day made it even cozier.

Ordered an ice cream and bratwurst. Currently still waiting 45 minutes and still no food. Definitely go somewhere else if you want to eat something in a timely fashion. Way too long of a wait for a $16+ bratwurst.

We had a cappuccino and macchiato. We got a shot of expresso instead and my lavender cappuccino was not like the drink I've had there before. The girl was in a hurry to close at 8pm Saturday. The window had a sign 6 to close 9am to 11pm. She sent customers awa at 8pm.. This place was not very pleasant, like in the past visits we had. She wrote on the window closed with an erasable marker. We were very disappointed with the service and what we paid for these drinks.

I usually have really enjoyed the wild goose because of the atmosphere. The food has been good but overpriced for what you get imo. However, this time we went, the service of the staff was severely lacking. Having worked in the food service industry, nothing grinds my gears more than slow, poor service. It took 30 minutes for us to receive our food, none of the staff moved with any sense of purpose, and I watched them neglect to take a woman’s order for 10 minutes opting to do anything else than even greet her. Every other time I’ve been the store has been full of customers, but when we went it was only half full AT MOST, no excuse for such slow service.

Very nice staff and delicious food and coffee, sometimes a little slow to prepare. This is then communicated very well and responded to appropriately.

What a wonderful, friendly place! We stumbled across the Wild Goose while on a road trip, and this place alone made us want to stay longer in Colorado Springs. Thanks for making such a neat spot!

I spent $4 for parking so I could do some work here. Then purchased the bottomless cup of coffee and some food. I got a cup of coffee in an 8 oz mug which I knew would immediately be emptied. I went back up for a refill and they were out. I got here right when they opened so I’m not sure how a coffee shop manages to run out of coffee so quickly and not have extra made for the morning rush. It was just a bit disappointing considering the price of the coffee.

The back room is fantastic. They have chairs couches very comfortable to sit in. My girlfriend ordered the hot chai latte. The two choices were honey and spicy. She didn’t think the taste was that great on the honey. I ordered the lemonade. It was very good definitely will go back.

We were worried that our coffee had whole milk in it when we ordered oat milk, we asked the barista and they were so sweet and generous to go out of their way to offer to remake it for us. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness! I recommend this place to everyone I know.
