We hosted our college grandson and five of his friends for a delightful and delicious dinner at Slogar. They could not have been more pleased. Everything was amazing! Great evening!
Just everything is right with this place! It's great food and the family style concept is unique in CB. Our server and the support service were obviously well-trained and dedicated to providing a great experience. Laid-back yet attentive.
We have eaten at The Slogar several times over the past 30+ years and have always found the food to be great, and last night was no exception. We reserved a table for our family skiing at CB several months ago and only have these few criticisms. Only three of us had signature drinks and my wife and grandchildren soft drinks so always expect to pay a lot for a bar tab but our tab for 4 adults and two children with included automatic gratuities was over $400 for fried chicken dinners! As usual the food and service were excellent but their prices have become exorbitant but I guess they figure anyone who can afford to take their family skiing will just expect to pay a fortune to have a nice meal out, but next trip to CB we will skip The Slogar. If you decide to eat ere I would suggest dining there early in your trip since we have about 10 pieces of chicken in our cooler to eat at home.
We unfortunately thought the price was really steep for what you got. They charged my 10 year old $49 for a side of chicken (which we did not want.) The service was very rushed. They took away my husband's plate mid-bite. I'm guessing they are trying to get as many people through as they can. But for a $500 tab, we should have been able to enjoy the meal.
GREAT CHICKEN! But other than that pretty average. For the price, you'd think there would be more elegant ambiance or better service but this place runs on reputation more than anything.
My new favorite restaurant in Crested Butte! We visit CB multiple times a year, and have been to most of the comparable dinner spots (not all). I really like the restaurant scene in CB, so the bar is high. We had dinner at The Slogar last night, and loved it! I really enjoyed the family style format, the drinks were EXCELLENT (I had a whiskey sour and my wife had a Mint Condition), food was great, the decor/ambiance/service were charming and fun.
Dinner was good. Dessert was straight from Sysco. I did not think the food was worth the price. Family of four & 1 glass of wine was $380. I am glad we tried it but most likely we are a one and done.
I have been a regular visitor to Slogar for several years and thumbs up for the addition to the main course options of the veggie stuffed pepper. I tried it last night and it was fantastic, looking forward to my next meal at Slogar!
The food and service were excellent! Unfortunately, we were seated near a very loud table with a crying baby so it made our experience a little more stressful.
Have been coming here for years. Service was lacking. Waitress only checked on us twice. Mac and cheese was not great at all.

I love how I got fired from this establishment for a bad review, and the bad reviews just keep coming in! Do not spend your money here! You will be disappointed. Better fried chicken at Clarks market down the street ?
There were nine of us celebrating two birthdays. We knew upfront there was an automatic 20% tip added to our bill, but we did not expect the service we were NOT given! We already had our food before we got our drinks. My sister-in-law accidentally spilt her gin and tonic and it was 20 minutes before they replaced it. They never came back to ask if we needed any refills. One of our guys had to go and ask if we could have refills on the vegetables. They never asked us how the meal was. When we got ready to leave, we needed four large to go boxes. No one ever brought them to us. One of the guys got up and went and found the boxes and brought them to us. We brought our own dessert. We had to clear our own table because nobody came back to check on us. So we carried all of our dirty dishes and set them in the room behind us. When the girls saw what we were doing, she brought us plates and ice cream sandwiches. When she brought our bill, she did however, tell us to take note of the fact that 20% tip was already added. We have been coming to Slogars since before 1970s. We have never had this kind of an experience. We go nearly every year. I do not know that we will ever go again. I have been told that they have changed ownership. I don’t know if that was the reason for such horrible service or lack there of. I’m not certain, but it was very disappointing. The food was good as always, but unfortunately, the lack of service overshadowed that. It was apparent that knowing you were already getting $117 tip that there was no need to put forth very much effort. Our bill totaled over $700. I think we could have expected a little bit of service.

The fried chicken ($49), while moist, was completely bland—Popeyes would be a better (and cheaper) choice. Sides included unseasoned mashed potatoes, canned corn, and gravy that was just passable.
The so-called ribeye ($61)? Actually a strip steak, missing the flavorful cap, served cold, and tough enough that I couldn’t even chew through parts of it. Cottage cheese was bland, the tomato “chutney” was just stewed canned tomatoes, and the Caesar salad and coleslaw were worse than store-bought - definitely came from a bag. Plastic serving tongs were used for the salad….
The real kicker was dessert: a *Blue Bunny* ice cream bar, straight out of the wrapper.
Service was awkward but not bad—
our reservation was initially misplaced, and the courses came out in a disjointed manner.
If you’re looking for quality food, this isn’t the place. Factor in cocktails alongside overpriced dishes, and you’re left with an experience that doesn’t come close to justifying the price tag.

I am from Louisiana and this fried chicken is amazing!! The best fried chicken I have ever had was my grandmas, this is a close second. Everything from cocktails to sides was delicious. Service was exceptional and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Do yourself a favor and eat here. I live 3 hours away and I’m already planning my next trip.

Ayla and the amazing staff took care of our party of 20 with ease. The pre fixed menu was unreal, everything was cooked perfect and the timing of meals was on point. The craft cocktails go perfect with the fried chicken, but the steak and ribs were great even two days later! Thanks to the amazing staff at The Slogar, you all are great!! See you soon.
