Great selections, including Ethiopian Beer-and if you're lucky-honeywine. Easy location to meet people, with ample parking. Food made with various spice levels, so an excellent spot to try new dishes. As always, Ethiopian cuisine naturally offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. (Alternative sides to Injera are also offered here)

The food was fantastic as always. I love getting the meat & veggie sampler and trying different dishes, and it's always a pleasure when we get to introduce new people to Ethiopian cuisine. Eating family style is a treat.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options make it easy to find something you'll enjoy.

This used to be my favorite restaurant. Apparently they changed ownership and it is just not the same. I used to love the cabbage dish as well as the carrots with green beans. Sadly they were inedible. Not to mention they served my vegetarian dish on the same plate as my meat eater friend. Totally unacceptable. Can’t say I’ll ever come back. Save your money and head to the other Denver Ethiopian restaurants.Vegetarian options: Wouldn’t recommend any vegetarian items if they think it’s ok to serve it in the same plate as meat.

Service was great as I walk in this waiters name Sarah came with a beautiful smile and was a friendly attitude took us to our seat and offered as a drink. Anyway I was more afraid of what kind of food they have because I'm a vegan and she's smiling show me all the choice with you I can have. I ordered sherro and some salad along with it was great and very tasteful I recommend everyone to go try their sherro. I will be coming soon to Axum.Kid-friendliness: The weather and the kids sitting with their parents across from me distance to like it and we're laughing was full of joy

I’m not a picky eater so when I say something is inedible it means something. This place went downhill. It must be new owners.

Best Ethiopian food I have had in Denver, and third best overall in my life - after some food made by refugee friends of mine and one restaurant in Chicago. This place has SUCH good food. The service is great - even for takeout - just today they gave me free ayib because they were not able to accommodate a modification I wanted to make on a combo. Sometimes it takes quite a while to get food, but in my opinion, the food is absolutely worth it. I have had practically every dish on the menu. Awesome and always still hot.

The shiro and misir wot was pretty good and flavorful! Way better than the Ethiopian restaurant down the street (Abyssinian). Would have given it 5 stars if not for the cockroach I saw crawling on the floor.

I’ve been to this restaurant a handful of times, as I love Ethiopian food and would have it every day if I could. Luckily, Denver has a good selection of Ethiopian places on or near Colfax and I’ve frequented all of them over the past few years with mostly very pleasant experiences. With that being said, Axum is solidly in the middle of the pack. They don’t do anything spectacular but they don’t drop the ball either. Their prices are in-line with the other places as well, so no issues there. The food is always prepared well and tastes very good, but again, there’s nothing really that separates them from the pack to make me want to eat there any more than the other Ethiopian places. The 4-star rating encompasses more of my love of the cuisine than a reflection of the restaurant itself. If Axum was the only Ethiopian place in Denver, I’d eat there every few months, be blissfully happy, and give them 5 stars. However, since there are others in the area that I enjoy slightly more, they rate a 4 in my book.

Tasty food compensates for indifferent service. Hope they will provide separate plates for vegetarians in a group and not serve both veg and non-veg in the same plate, for mulitple people's orders. Also a finger bowl to wash fingers would be nice to have when we ask for the bill. But would go again!

Generous platters and tasty Ethiopian dishes. I like the steamed milk and honey with dinner. All 6 of us for $110 left pleased!

We had a great time in this Ethiopian restaurant in Denver a few days ago. The food was very good and the service was great (thanks, Abi). We tried the combos and a few suggestions that were made by Abi. It was all very good.

Decent food. Not worth the horrible customer service.

We've tried to find a closer Ethiopian restaurant, but none of them have come close to Axum. The food just tastes better here! They have a fantastic Groupon that keeps us coming back, even with the drive.

I love picking up food from this Mom & Pop joint. Go for a combo meal (for me it's always the meat & veg combo (with #25, 33, 39, 45, 46) + extra injera. SO GOOD!

The first time I had been there in 15 years. Service was slow but the food was worth the wait. The lamb ribs were delicious!
