Absolutely incredible food and the drinks were spectacular!! The service was on point, a very nice young man helped us and was very cool and knowledgeable. 5 stars is an understatement, if their were 10 stars, Call would get it! I keep coming back here. Besides being so adorable you want to pinch it, the food is yummy. It's like they scoured your favorite food blogs and cookbooks and decided to whip up a batch of that thing you've been meaning to make for the past year, but haven't gotten around to doing it. And they do it with a chef's touch. You'll be wondering just what fresh herb they added to the lemon risotto scone, laced with just a little honey. Just a little. Fun to watch them make it all too. We now serve all salads in our home tossed with a little olive oil, a pinch of sea salt, a little pepper, and lemon. Just like I watched them do it, before placing some arugula on a tartine. Thank you nice people at Call!
Had this on a list of places to try. Had the in house smoked pork and perfect fried egg on in house baked roll. Some inside seating but nice front and back patio areas. Some parking. They are about to do some renovations so they will be closed. Check them on Facebook to see if open before heading down.
Always great food and pleasant environment. Keep up the good work ladies and gents!
A casual, cute place with cute staff and light fare, delicious looking pastries and coffee and wine and beer. It felt like I was back in LA as I was dining on the patio on a lovely Saturday brunch time. The place wasn't crowded, which is surprising, but maybe we were just fashionably late and missed the throes of Denverites clamoring for a solid, easy breezy brunch. The chicken salad sandwich was great, though, in the future, I'd just go for the scoop of chicken salad and skip the sandwich because the bread to chicken salad ratio favored the former more and while the bread was outstanding, I was looking for more substance. The chips that come with the sandwich (or possibly are just an add on) were outstanding. I added some to my sandwich for flavor and crunch! The spritz was a fun spin on an old waspy favorite featuring the sneak up on you Ramona wine in a can. I wasn't in love with the cookies, but I did appreciate the creativity with the white chocolate chip tahini varietal and that they warmed up the chocolate chip cookie for us.
I find it incredible that a sandwich can actually garner 5 stars. But Call is THE PLACE where you will find at least one. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the best sandwich I have ever had. It is a pork and fried egg (fried to perfection) sandwich with arugula on a sesame brioche bun. All made in house. In another lifetime, the 1980's. I worked in a 5 star restaurant. That sandwich far surpassed anything I ever served at lunch time!
4 for the atmosphere and peach salad, that was so refreshing! Smoked salmon tartine was way toooo salty.
Call was an alright spot for a business meeting. They have free wifi though it can be slightly spotty outside. Their small menu and bakery selections looked quite enticing. I do wish prices were prominently displayed on the bakery goods' menus. It's definitely a barrier to ask the price of each item. I ended up going with the pork & egg sandwich. While tasty, it's not a great sandwich choice if you need to get work done. The runny yolk soaks into the bottom bun, rendering your hands sticky so it becomes a fork job. Then you need to deal with the black seeds dotting the bun getting stuck between your teeth. Overall, I couldn't help but think I was across the street from Owlbear's smoked meats.
One of the best bloody Mary's I've ever had. The peach fennel salad was light and delicious. Cute and rather large outdoor sitting area. Also got the turmeric ginger tonic in hopes of counteracting the alcohol from the bloody mary. It was good, very earthy with turmeric being the strongest component.
This place is awesome! We're lucky to have CTA in the Berkeley neighborhood. I've never had a bad beer here - no matter what style of beer they brew it's always at high level. Also the staff has this unreal ability to remember your name even if you haven't been in some time. RAD. Came here right before they closed. The bartender was super friendly and had great recommendations for beer since we only had time for a single choice. It has a pretty sweet setup on the inside and the mood was enjoyable. I will return when I'm in Denver again.
We stopped in here after the Graffiti walking tour. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. They have a limited menu that changes regularly. We had a mix of lunch and breakfast items. The peach burrata and tomato tartine were amazing. Both of them are easy to share. The chips seem to be homemade and were crisp with the right amount of salt. Would definitely go back when we are in Denver
Expensive...yes! Worth it...YES! These folks can call me whatever they want but i will call them the best on this street. For sure going back if i'm in Denver.
I was immediately drawn to the pork and fried egg sandwich and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I split it with a friend along with the power salad, which made for the perfect lunch. Loved!
Let's start with their cozy atmosphere. I just can't believe how comfortable I was upon entering the restaurant. They have a small menu and our group ordered different dishes. Surprisingly, all came out smelling so delicious and savory! We will be back!
What a cute cafe. So many options for food and drink. I stopped in for a quick drink on a hot summer day and the Kumbucha is to die for! Love the vibe of the place, hip yet relaxed. Outdoor seating in the front and more out back! Not much room inside where the AC is but perfect for what I needed. Will be back!
Intimate setting for top class breakfast/brunch. Everybody here is always super friendly.
Great service, good gluten free options and delicious fresh food for decent price, especially for that area. I had the chicken salad with some avocado. They bake their own bread and gluten-free bread included, but I chose to pass. However, I'm sad I didn't try the gluten free special zucchini bread they had, but gives me a reason to return. They have various coffee drinks and a nice patio. Definitely would go back!
Amazing cafe!! Everything was so delicious and fresh. The menu is small and clearly curated towards the health conscious type, but so thoughtful and creative nonetheless! We both ordered the Farm Fare (toast, avocado, poached egg, spinach) and shared an order of the Feta and Crisps. So. Much. Flavor. The beer/cocktail/wine selection was perfect as well. I had a crooked stave sour rose. Also grabbed a savory scone to go which was just as outstanding as the meal. There's plenty of outdoor seating as well as a few tables inside. Definitely recommended!!
Love this place! Everything is beyond delicious (from spicy oat chai to any of their yummy treats) and the staff are incredibly nice. They're a little on the pricier side, but the treat is worth it. And they have a fantastic happy hour for those that want a real bang for their buck!
Love this place especially their happy hour. The food is top notch and something about their bread is magical.
I'm giving this place a 5 star based on the excellent service and good deal on the beverages. The Carlsberg (in the green bottle) is one of my favorite import beers!
I've always had a lovely experience here for lunch! Tasty, thoughtful dishes and really kind staff. It's become my go-to for a quick bite - their takeaway sandwiches are awesome!
Love this place! My favorite is the pulled pork with fried egg! Great service! Coffee is fresh!
I was thrilled to got to try Call! Being the food critic (ahem) that I am, I found this restaurant in a best new restaurants list in Bon Appetite and had immediately reached out to my friend who lives in Denver. When we finally got to visiting him, we got to give it a go. I tried going on July 4th, but alas, the restaurant was closed - at least for lunch time. It seems like the city of Denver took care of many of their service industry folks since we found many restaurants and bars closed on July 4th. Good for them. We returned the next morning to regular business hours and entered the tiny space to order from the small but adequate and interesting menu. There is a daily selection of pastries that is visible on the counter upon entering. I think we were like the 3rd people in line and by our turn, they were out of their amazing savory scone. Luckily-I got the last one. I opted for the salmon tartine. Others had the fury-cado, the smoked pork breakfast sandwich and the burrata and greens. We had a slew of fun drinks including iced matcha tea, the turmeric and ginger tonic (both hot and cold) and of course for the lushes a few morning cocktails, including a riff on an Aperol spritz and an old fashioned. The drinks were all excellent and I loved that they had such an extensive menu for non alcoholic teas and tonics. My tartine was really good, but I found it a bit too salty, or maybe too big of a portion for how salty and savory the dish is. My husband said his pork was a bit too "vinegary" but I will have to take his word for it-I personally love vinegary. The pastries were definitely the highlight. We had a little goat cheese and pickled sour cherry tart, in addition to the (last!) scone - garlic and chive I think? - as well as a carrot bread. The space, especially inside, is very small, but the patio more than doubles their space. There are cute little details everywhere, like the the lighted sign above the door that says Call Now/Later (open or closed). The table numbers they given you are all different area codes and wrapped in a telephone cord. The serves shirts say "For a Good Time" on the back. It's kitchy but works. I would love to try more dishes on their other menus, but I would definitely return, even for just a coffee and a pastry.
Absolutely incredible food and the drinks were spectacular!! The service was on point, a very nice young man helped us and was very cool and knowledgeable. 5 stars is an understatement, if their were 10 stars, Call would get it!
Casual place to grab a drink and little bite before heading over to our reservation at Beckon. Delicious Old Fashioned!
I mean... Call is just the best ALL AROUND. The most gorgeous interior, amazing patio (front+back), nicest and enthusiastic staff, and amazingly unique and delicious food. The white chocolate tahini cookie is one of the best out there!!!! The egg sandwich and salmon tartine were amazing. The burrata and greens was good but the best thing I've ever eaten.
Delicious! Had the chicken salad sandwich, and my whole world was changed with a bite of that amazing sourdough bread. I don't think I'll ever be able to eat other sourdough products without major disappointment. Also, tried the aebleskivers (Danish pancake holes), and I'll never be able to look a donut hole (or pancake) again. This place just knows how to do food well. Not good. Well.
Hidden gem of Denver. Passionate, friendly staff and a dining atmosphere that is buzzing with an intimate experience for foodies. Love the decor and love the food. The patio is HEAVENLY - complimentary blankets on each chair for snuggling up with a coffee while you people watch. Love this place!
I keep coming back here. Besides being so adorable you want to pinch it, the food is yummy. We really enjoyed the small bites and lovely cocktails.
Cute little café with outdoor seating. Menu is rather small but it appears there's at least one thing for everyone. I had the salmon tartine (the only pescatarian option) and it was pretty yummy. Gluten-free bread available for an extra $2.00. Friendly service.
Super trendy place to get breakfast/brunch/lunch. Their menu has remained pretty stagnant, but the food is still good. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and is even dog friendly. They have 2 picnic tables set aside for people with dogs. It's great to sit outside, but the tables do get pretty hot if it's not shaded by an umbrella. As far as food goes: PORK AND EGG SANDWICH: Delicious. The egg is perfectly gooey. The pork is tasty and the aioli adds nice flavors. TARTINE: Might be different based on the day but they were good. The avacado was better than the graprefruit. WHITE CHOCOLATE TAHINI COOKIE - It was delicious! Not your everyday white chocolate cookie. It has some great flavors added. ABELSKIVER - I've never had it before but it tastes great. It's like a donut hole with added fruit and flavors. It's warm and delicious.
Really great spot for breakfast/lunch. I recommend the pork sandwich. Staff was very friend and energetic as well. I will definitely be back.
Best chicken salad sandwich. Menu is simple but creative, and extremely well-executed. Wonderful service in a bit of a small space, but they make do! Head out to the patio for prime seating.
I like this place so much I'm going to tell all of you about it but that's it! No one else! I am completely smitten with this little hole in the wall! Coming here at about 10am on a gloomy Friday I think was the perfect time to really get a feel for the place and the people who work and frequent there! All of the employees were very friendly and the ambiance was cozy yet still modern! I think the one thing that always shocks me about these newly restored restaurants and shops popping up in my urban neighborhood of the north east side , is that I can sometimes be the only person with some color in the building. Seriously everyone working there was Caucasian and the people eating were also Caucasian.... nobody brown like me. Super sad to see this place lacking in diversity but that's not off putting enough to ensure I never return! The vibe was soothing and the food was just great! I enjoyed the salmon tartine which was just the right size to fill me up! They went a little heavy on the garlic aioli for me! 3 dollops would have been plenty!!!! But it was so savory and salty with that little bit of tart from the dill! The salmon had a Smokey note but it wasn't overpowering as it can be sometimes when it comes to smoked meats! The bread was hearty and sturdy enough to hold all of that good stuff up! I also had the BUZZ ME which was a drink made with aperol, Prosecco, sparkling water and orange...... yuuuuuum! It was strong but not too strong with just enough sweet! I did get a little buzz from it for about an hour! It paired great with the open face sandwich! Needless to say I ate everything, drank everything.... and I shall return!
Almost there! Three and half trending towards 4 stars. (Yelp, where's my half stars?) Visited today for brunch. Ordered a Salmon Tartine plus avocado and a small kombucha. Both were generous portions and delicious. My two friends wolfed down Pork & Fried Egg sandwiches; one felt it was a little less than generous for the price. I do have a complaint - no sides makes for a monotonous meal. I'm not asking for anything as fancy as the main course, but some home-made potato chips, some crunchy carrot sticks, or a brightly dressed bit of greens would get the offerings here to a very, very solid 4 stars with good potential for a 4.5. My shadow was hanging over my plate so my buddy took the shot of the Salmon Tartine. It is pretty epic. Definite recommend and will re-visit.
Great, but not for me. Super small menu, kinda uppity feel and expensive. I ordered the Turkish mocha and the yogurt and granola because everything else was really egg heavy ( which I don't eat) or,was a sandwich I wasnt crazy about eating mid-morning. They take the phone theme to new levels with shirts that say " call for a good time" and they serve their food on yellow pages. There are phones all about as decor and there are those old fashioned canned phones as lights. So, long story short, really great quality food but a small menu that is really egg heavy.
Reasonable prices, great coffee and treats, great customer service. I love this coffee shop!! They have cheerful staff with great service; we sat outside and they brought out blankets! I got a chocolate chip cookie, warmed up too, and a vanilla latte for a reasonable price. The environment is a small, modern nook. They have a large patio area which I am sure is extremely popular over summer. I will be visiting this shop again, if I am ever in the area.
Deterred by the long line at Crema on a Saturday morning, I went to Call for my daily fix. I had never gone in before because it always seemed more like a food/brunch spot from the outside (which it is, but they do have a take-out coffee counter.) My immediate reaction upon taking a sip of my americano was "Wow. This is good." Perfectly balanced and delicious, and the take-out cup is compostable for slightly less guilt. Vibe is laid-back hipster brunch, and all of the waitstaff were super friendly! I'll definitely be back to try their food and other espresso drinks.
Came here for an early morning breakfast. Very good food, top notch service, cute interior / ambiance. The food here is somewhat nontraditional for breakfast / brunch. Makes the dining experience fun and different. All the dishes were tasteful and fairly priced. However, the food was not as mindblowing as the popular reviews make you think. Will come back
