The 3 stars are for the average since I've been here several times. However, had last night been my first time, it'd be my last time there. We sat down, got our drink order but sat for close to 45 min until our server acknowledged us ever again. Was he busy? Yes, but apparently not busy enough to greet new tables, fill water and orders for all other tables around us. Not even a glance towards us. Luckily, the bartender noticed our empty glasses and came over. She was the saving grace. She brought us a cigar and more drinks. Once we finished those, our server finally made it over to fill our water and asked us for a drink order, but as he did, he was literally turning to walk away. My wife ended up following him and just asked the bartender for more drinks. Again, she was the saving grace. Dunno what this guy's beef was, but we wish we had given all our money to the bartender instead.

Phenomenal trip to this cigar bar. I was visiting Denver and looked for a place to enjoy a stogie. This spot was recommended by multiple people, and I'm glad I listened.

The lounge is small but lovely; old school vibe with leather chairs, good ventilation and EXCELLENT service. The drink options were plentiful and the cigar selection is serviceable. The prices are a tad high but they have a lot of brands to choose from. What surprised me was the food; I went with a burger (tasty) but they have a full menu to choose from.

Next time I'm in Denver I'm definitely stopping in. Highly recommend

I am going to pay this place a backhanded compliment: it is a “wrinkle room.” Or, more accurately, it was a wrinkle room and still maintains that vibe in spite of changing times and patrons.

You want to step into a smoky bar where you can imagine politicians making corrupt deals? This place has that in spades. It is smoky. But the clientele now cling to the slightly more contemporary cigar crowd demographic. To my mind, that is a good and a bad thing. Good because it keeps it open. Bad because it means you get certain customers who recall the not-so-glory days of the 90s cigar revival, with then-hipsters waving their Robustos around like they were/are . . . well, you get the picture. When you have to show off while getting mouth, throat, and lung cancer, you are likely making up for something else.

My group? None of us smoke cigars. And none of us mind cigar smoke. So, the vibe was just fine. In fact, the place was more than fine. The drinks were made nicely and priced well. The staff were, to the one, gracious and attentive. We left with smiles on our faces and a slight hint of smoke on our clothes.

Tucked as it is inside the Brown Palace, itself a throwback to another era, I hope this place never closes. There should still be places where people can indulge in an inherently unhealthy ritual while keeping good company with those ghosts from days past where concerns about health and political decorum were brushed aside with a wave of a Toro and the swirl of a perfectly made martini.

Thanks for a nice time. Recommended.

[Sidebar: If you want to get a sense of what some current cigar smokers are like, read some of the reviews. By turns haughty/negative and informative/positive, you’ll get a good sense of who you might be sitting next to when you wander in. That said, some of the reviews rightly note that a place like this should be treated with respect and, on occasion, refreshed with a deep clean and some attempts to repair or replace worn/torn/scuffed/tar-stained furnishings, etc.]

The atmosphere was quite pleasant and enjoyable and the staff were extremely attentive and courteous. The selection of drinks and cigars on the menu exceeded my expectations, making it a place where one can spend time with real pleasure. However, some of the seating areas appeared worn and the ventilation could have been better. A bit of thoughtful renovation would elevate Churchill Bar to a level more befitting the Brown Hotel's distinguished, historic and elegant character. Nevertheless, with its ambiance and quality of service, it remains a highly recommendable venue.

Not the bar, but the atrium for high tea. Great service, excellent food at a stupid expensive price. Live piano in a very calming atmosphere,
