Nice zoo. Animals have pretty large enclosures and seem very well cared for. LOTS of staff around near each exhibit for questions and information. Very busy on a Sunday. If you want less of a crowd, go during the week or after 2pm.
It was a very nice zoo. The only draw back is if you are in need of a mobility scooter they can be reserved ahead of time. So, if you have a city pass or are visiting from out of state you are out of luck of getting one. We got lucky as I asked if I could be put on a waiting list and only had to wait two hours before one became available. For the size of the zoo I would figure they would have more available to rent. What they should do is allow so many to be reserved and have...
I think Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is still #1 in my heart but Denver Zoo is so expansive and has so many good things to offer I think it's my new favorite! The pretzel and cheese sauce was honestly the best I've ever had, they have Dip-n-Dots around every other corner, there are so many fun animals, THE GIFT SHOP, all the food options, etc. We'll certainly be back!
