We've eaten at GB for years, initially as a "fish Friday" thing and then we found ourselves going more often just because it's so darned good. They have a limited menu, not surprisingly since it's a fish and chips place.

The cod is always good and I'm also a fan of their pollock and tilapia. If you're a little more adventurous, their scallops, shrimp and squid (aka calamari) are also tasty. I also like their cole slaw a lot and of course the chips are pretty traditional thick-cut.

The atmosphere is lively and can be packed and loud, and while I can't speak to other locations besides their Broadway store, you'll probably wind up sharing a table with someone. Which was a little weird coming out of the pandemic but it's perfectly fine now.

Prices are decent for the quantity of food you get, and it's especially fun to go in the summer and sit outside. If you're a fish and chips fan and aren't afraid of a healthy helping of fried everything, this is your place! Although to be fair: they do have meat pies, clam chowder and other options--but let's face it: this is a top-notch fried fish place and that's what you should order. You won't regret it!

The staff here are incredibly nice however, the fish and chips were bland, unseasoned, and very greasy.

Very tasty and some great specials during the week. Just wish they'd have more options for delivery since I don't live close.

Good food and time with friends. The dining area could use some more tables and vestibules on exterior doors to help keep out the cold.

I heard they finally have paper boxes and stopped using excessive plastic boxes so I went back...

They still put one order in a plastic bag. I said I don't need a bag when picking up. They employee took the plastic bag and put it directly in the trash. I even said something but they responded, 'we can't reuse it.' which I take to mean that the owners want to waste plastic and are still doing everything possible to create more waste. Other restaurants kindly say, thanks for saving waste. You just want to make waste.

1 star review for the owner who defends and enforces, at all costs, wasteful packaging practices with all takeout orders. And for the employees who try their best to waste plastic.

You are the only restaurant that I know of who consistently refuses to give me less packaging when I am trying to save a little bit of waste, but still give you business. Do you not want environmentalists to eat at your restaurant?! Are you bitter about Brexit? Sad the queen died and there's a useless king now? What is it that would stop you from allowing a customer to walk away with less packaging? Hate for the earth and/or environmentalists is the only logical conclusion. Prove me wrong if that's not true.

I have repeatedly asked when getting takeout from GB [at multiple locations] to please put all fish in one box [with 3-4 pieces], no bag necessary. I'm always given 2 boxes and a bag, except today I didn't get a bag for the first time... Your employees are so great and fast that I always wondered why they ignored my requests to use less packaging with my takeout orders?!.. until today! Today, I decided to have a deeper conversation about this with your great people [who surely probably need to be paid more for how excellent they are]. I found out the owner mandates a specific takeout packaging standard that is incredibly wasteful [my words not theirs]. Today I learned the owner doesn't care if someone like me tries to save waste asks for less packaging, because you're gonna get it anyway!! I had an excellent conversation with the awesome employees today, but I left incredibly disappointed in the fact that I've been supporting a business/owner who is being intentionally wasteful. To your employees' credit, they did defend your reasons for doing what you do. They are loyal to you and did not side with me, so do not reprimand them. Maybe you don't care about saving waste, the climate, or doing less damage to the earth and if that's the case, I will never return to your restaurant. Maybe put that on your website : "The ownership of GB fish and chips hates the earth". I am giving you the benefit of doubt and assuming that is not true, but please show your customers that you care and do better. Or at least let them leave with minimal packaging?!?!

The only solution to this problem for me now is to never give you business again until you adjust your attitude about reducing waste. I do not return to restaurants that package food in styrofoam or those that refuse to stop giving out utensils, napkins, extra unwanted sauce... I have many friends who stand by this attitude in a stronger way than I do and refuse to get ANY takeout from ANY restaurant due to the waste factor. The only reason I suck it up and order anyway because I often crave fish and chips. Living in CO, we don't have a lot of other options. So I reluctantly come back despite my strong aversion to how you respond to my repeated requests to save waste. It is the employees' response to me, but I now know that they are simply speaking for the owner and I will no longer be irritated by their refusal to save waste. Now I'm just mad I've given so much business to this ownership. Do better and stop letting wasteful customers drive your policies. You're losing business from people who care about the earth too. We're all in this together and you can do better. A lot better. If you

I love good fish and chips. I compare everywhere I’ve eaten fish and chips to where I’ve eaten in Scotland, which, in my opinion is the best. The flavors at GB were alright, but it was too greasy, and the fish wasn’t flaky. My margarita was way too cringy sweet. The customer service at the front was excellent though.

Hey could you please add tarter/ ketchup/ lemon wedge options when ordering online for delivery. - even if you’re charging for them they need to be included - your product is too good, and not including these condiments devalues such great food. Thank you.

We moved from the U.K. and were excited to have something that resembled British chippy. Unfortunately it was not very impressive. Portion size was small, food was cold, and most importantly there was no salt and vinegar added. If it was American fish and chips I wouldn’t have expected much, but calling it GB with the Union Jack on all the branding, I was hoping for salt and vinegar at the least especially for the price they charged.

I was so excited to try this place since so many people love and recommend it, but I was very disappointed.

My bill was $30 (with tip), and it wasn't that great.

I had the scallops with French fries, and I couldn't even taste the scallops because there was so much bread.

The French fries were good.

However, later in the afternoon, I was sick from the heavy amount of grease.

Parking: Limited parking spots.
Very tight parking spots.

Maybe I showed up on a bad day, but having recently been to London, this place did not compare to traditional fish & chips. My food was way too greasy, to the point the paper in the basket was soaked in oil. It was so heavily oiled and greasy, and all I could taste was the oil. I couldn’t finish barely half of what was served. While the F&C in London were of course cooked in oil, I couldn’t taste or feel the oil on my food. I understand this place is trying to serve traditional style F&C, that is not what I got and it was truly disappointing.
