The food was very limited…great selection of mezcals and tequilas. The waitress was very friendly and kind. We got a taste of the wine and it was absolutely awful! So, we did not order it. But, I absolutely loved the ambiance. Chill place with good music.

I stumbled upon this hidden gem while out on date night. I had the highland picnic and the hubby had the mushroom margarita! Both were outstanding and we had the pleasure of meeting the manager while we were there as well. Liz was extremely friendly and knowledgeable when we had questions about the cocktails! I will absolutely be back!!
This place is the VIBE. Everyone was so friendly. Maj gave us the perfect drink recommendations base off what we wanted. Love it!

Not at all LGBTQ friendly, I witnessed a guy being fired for standing up for themselves. Seriously disgusting, so disappointing for this place I originally liked.
Love the atmosphere & my server was phenomenal! Great personality & best server I’ve had visiting Denver! Definitely know where to come next trip! Thank you Semaj for the great hospitality!

“This bar exceeded expectations with its inviting atmosphere and attentive service. The drink menu is creative yet approachable, The staff is knowledgeable and quick to recommend pairings, and the overall environment makes it an excellent spot for both casual outings and date nights. Semaj is super friendly, attentive, and quick even when the place was busy. He made great recommendations and really added to the overall vibe of to the donkey bar.

Ghost donkey has become one of my favorite spots in Denver! The service is impeccable. Shout out Maj, James and Lidnsey for being gracious, kind and knowledgeable! The whole staff slays and everyone needs to check this spot out!

Don't waste your time. Their website doesn't say that their kitchen is closed. It was also empty when we walked in probably because their kitchen is permanently closed.

I walked into Ghost Donkey in Denver full of pride and curiosity. As a Mexican who deeply respects the traditions, the families, the land, and the generations behind every bottle of mezcal, raicilla, sotol, and bacanora, I was hopeful. But what I found was disgusting.
This bar has some of the most extraordinary bottles I’ve seen outside of Mexico. True national treasures. Bottles that should be handled with reverence and respect. Instead, they are being served by clueless staff who don’t even know what they’re holding. One bartender didn’t know the difference between mezcal and sotol. Another mispronounced raicilla entirely. When I asked about the agave varietal, she looked at me like I was speaking Martian. No training. No passion. No respect.
Instead of hiring someone who actually understands Mexican spirits—God forbid an actual Mexican who could speak to the culture and history—they staff the place with women who were clearly hired for their looks, not their knowledge. It’s a parade of hair flips and push-up bras. I don’t care how that sounds. It’s the truth. These women aren’t there to elevate the spirit of Mexico. They are there to sell an image, and it’s one that reduces our culture to a tacky, fetishized prop.
I am furious. Our spirits are sacred. They are the result of generations of work, of tradition, of hardship and pride. And to see them served like this, misunderstood and mishandled, by people who clearly don’t give a damn—that’s not just offensive. That’s vandalism. That’s erasure.
Ghost Donkey is not a celebration of Mexican culture. It is a mockery of it.
