This is NOT a soul food restaurant. This is a pool hall with terrible food. I got fried shrimp and fried fish. The shrimp tasted like they haven’t changed the grease since they opened and the fish was nothing but overly fried batter. There was no actual fish inside. The employees have no sense of customer service and aren’t knowledgeable of anything food related there. NOT A RESTAURANT just a beat down pool hall. UPDATE: Please look to the unprofessional response to an honest review as further proof of the terrible customer service. Just to reinforce the lying, angry nature of this business, and apparently the owner specifically, I have added photos of the last 4 reviews I made prior to this one which were all 5 stars.

Came here last night and got the catfish dirty rice and yams. Honestly the best southern food I've had in Colorado hands down hefty servings and the customer service was great was able to call and order over the phone and wasn't too expensive

I've been patronizing this establishment for about 9 years; the food is so good, the music is for everyone, and the vibe is always grown and sexy. Don't sleep on The New Horizon, because of rumors; Be your own judge!! July 4, 2024 was Independence Day, so the nemesis review was ridiculous.
I haven't been to the Horizon since I was a little kid. My mom was the bartender for the owner, Al, back in the early 60s. She was a white woman in a black establishment and the customers all loved her. She used to serve Floyd Little and the other broncos players. She learned how to cook the best bbq ribs from a cajun man who was the chef. She loved the Horizon and I have thought about it so much over the last 6 decades. So glad that it's still a part of that neighborhood and the city.
