The burger was so good. We were greeted by Larry as soon as we walked in. He was very nice and gave us some recommendations on what to order. We had the birria burger, the boss burger and the truffle fries. Everything was so delicious. Larry is definitely a great asset to this establishment. He made us feel welcomed and even gave us some recommendations on things to do as tourist while downtown. 10/10 recommend.

Tasty burger, and I really liked the sharp, spicy jalapenos combined with the sweet pineapple on the Boss!Dietary restrictions: They do have some gluten free options, but all fries are cooked in the same oil.

First time here. Nice burger joint downtown Denver. Ordered the King Birrias burger, waffle fries and dr.pepper. The fountain Dr. Pepper awesome. The waffle fries cooked perfect with the dipping sauce, ancho ailoli ranch, delicious. The burger not delish. The braised beef was dripping with grease and the dipping sauce had way too much grease at the top. Took pics. To make things worse, I ordered the ancho ailoi ranch to use as my dipping sauce instead and was told I had to pay for the extra sauce. Ordered 2 as the container was tiny. Charged $2.94. Insult to pay $3 more to make my burger taste better and avoid the clogging grease.Doesn't look like this burger joint will be my TO-GO place in downtown Denver when I visit 4x a month for work OR recommend for that matter.Can't give opinion on other burgers but if I have to pay extra to make other burgers taste better like this one, I'll pass and eat elsewhere.1st time eating here and possibly the last.UPDATE to ownerI understand you make it fresh and you want to charge but I shouldn't have to pay $3 more to make my burger taste better especially to avoid all that grease. Send me a voucher for my return and I'll be glad to come try again. If not, no thanks I'll make 5280 Burger Bar my go to burger place. Have always had success there. Won't ever RECOMMEND this place.

Food is amazing! The environment is clean and modern. The people that work here are friendly and helpful. Great experience walking in and eating lunch.
Great experience here! A good spot to stop at before a comedy show or concert. A lot of variety of burgers and fries and other foods. Plus various drinks. I highly recommend putting the maple bacon dip on a burger. Definitely want to come back.

I visited Denver for a work conference. Prior to this, a colleague mentioned this place and how good it was. The night I arrived we ate here. The burger was the best I had in such a long time. I had the Birria Burger with the truffle fries. I left happy. A few days later we came back with other colleagues. The second time around I had the Slinger...with truffle fries. Summer and Paul were awesome. We got there at 8:30pm (They close at 9) and they had no issues with us finishing our meal after closing. We didn't feel rushed at all. We went to Illegal Burger and we were hungry! An amazing culinary experience, loved the service with Paul! I had the Undercover Burger and loved it! Definitely a perfect stop if you want a delicious burger!

Illegal Burger was recommended by a family member that lives in and around the Downtown Denver area. The atmosphere and location are conveniently located and within walking distance of 16th Street, Ball Arena and downtown attractions. The food was tasty and did not disappoint - 5 Stars easily! My only complaint would be that the music was loud and made it difficult to hear the cashier ringing up our order. Hands down would recommend for a tasty burger and special cocktail, beer or boozy shake.
This place may not catch your eye at first, but don't let the appearance deceive you. I guess if you're in the mood for a no-frills, quick, burger fix, the spot got you covered. Very simple not a first choice, but will do when you're looking for, a very casual small spot for a burger
