This old school fish house could be on the Eastern seaboard. Very fresh offerings, great oysters and mussels, nice fish, authentic vibe, and in an interesting area of Denver near the Train Station. Our server was first rate - laid back and efficient. My one complaint would be about the differing size portions of the same dish. Two in our party ordered halibut, but one portion was a small, flat, thin piece, presumably a tail piece, while the second was thick, wide, and probably an ounce plus more. Both cost the same, not sold by weight. Both were tasty, however.
We visited the lodo location to celebrate my dad's 75th birthday which I added on my reservation note. I expected a better table. The food was really good but in my opinion it was overpriced. Our waitress was good; however, she brought ice cream at the end (which we did not order) to celebrate happy birthday which I thought was a nice touch but to my surprise we were charged for it. I doubt we will visit Jax and at this point I cannot recommend it.
Great Menu, choices and staff! Wide selection of fresh oysters. Blue crab cacio de pepe was excellent. Same for gumbo.
What a wonderful experience we had at Jax. Loved our server and had some delicious seafood. It started with the absolute best oil and bread combo we have ever had! Then we ordered the mussels in Chardonnay broth, the Lure, and scallops. We will return. Thank you!
We had a wonderful meal before the ballgame. Drinks were excellent, shrimp and oysters were too! The fish sandwiches, tacos and lobster rolls were all outstanding. Great service. It's noisy but in a fun way. A great place to eat - consistent year after year. Reservations recommended.
Heads up, this might be a little long, but only because I have so many good things to say! First off, I noted in our OpenTable reservation that I'd be on crutches and hoped for a table where they wouldn't be in the way. Not only did the team acknowledge that, they gave us an incredibly thoughtful and spacious table, one that could have seated 4 or 5 people, on a busy Friday night. The hostess was so kind and accommodating, and it genuinely set the tone for the evening. Now, onto the food and drinks... I was thrilled to see a Muscadet on the menu (hard to find and perfect with oysters—thank you for having that). The CrackerJack oysters were exactly what I want in an East Coast oyster and somehow only $3 each. The Niçoise salad was spot on and how it should be done, and easily the best I've had in years. And my boyfriend's lobster roll was elegant and beautifully curated as well. Huge compliments to the kitchen. And lastly, anyone serving a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Rosé already wins points with me. And most importantly, Clare! She delivered some of the best service I've had in a long time. Warm, attentive, and just a joy throughout the whole evening. Honestly, the whole team was exceptional. I really needed a nice night out, and this went above and beyond in every way. Thank you all, what a truly lovely crew!
Top notch service. Fun atmosphere, somewhat loud and casual. Food was fantastic but overpriced. Over $100 per person with apps and drinks.
Jeff and Pookie are the best! Our favorite spot for oysters. Blue crab cacio e Pepe is insane. So good always. We will be back for lunch soon.
Great ambiance, the warm bread was excellent. Overall the food was good but very overpriced. 180 for a regular meal for two people (an app, two entrees and two cocktails). Good food but for that price I expected better.
Super delicious! We got to the restaurant in time for happy hour and tried a few new dishes including the mussels. So good! Noah behind the bar was really attentive and friendly.

Our first visit! The staff were all friendly and upbeat. Our server, Mackenzie, was so helpful offering recommendations and great descriptions of food and cocktails. She also pointed out the Happy Hour specials. The complimentary bread and delicious seasoned oil were a nice surprise We enjoyed the Mussels, Mushroom Risotto and Fried Catfish.
Massive letdown from start to finish. Service was nonexistent. We had to flag someone down just to check if they remembered parts of our order. Got shorted on oysters (18 instead of 24), and both crabs were bone-dry and overcooked. Even the lobster roll was filled with dry, tasteless meat. For over $400 for four people, the value just wasn't there. No attention, no care, just a bad experience across the board. Only redeeming thing? The CrackerJax oyster. Perfect size, flavorful, and exactly what I wish the rest of the meal had lived up to. I had high hopes as it reminded me of a spot back home in San Francisco, but unfortunately, this place missed the mark in every way that counts.
Overall from start to finish was exceptional, on value was the only area we felt instead of automatically adding the 20 percent gratuity, it should be left up to the customer, but we get it everywhere and everything is going up in prices, still left very satisfied with our service and food, and also left our server and additional tip. Thanks.
We lived across the street from Jax for 26 years. It was our “Cheers”. We absolutely love Jax for the drinks, food, ambience and we knew and loved the people that worked there! Everything was just as delicious though didn't know a single person working there. Service was good though not super friendly. That was the only thing lacking.
This place is a gem! The best oysters and selection in Denver. The staff is amazing and vibe is great. The food is also fantastic. GO!
