We were very I'm happy about the 20% service charge that was added to the check after we ate that was not mentioned on the menu anywhere and the server said that was not her tip

We had a great experience. Our interactions with bar staff and wait staff were exceptional. Food was outstanding
The food was great! The service was good. However I didn't care for the mandatory tip policy which was 20% for the service staff PLUS what you want to give to the waiter.
First time dining here and I highly recommend it. We had a dinner reservation and from first greeting through closing out the wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. The happy hour oyster specials were super fresh. Entrees were a grilled Halibut and snow crab, both of which were amazing, as was the bruleed key lime pie. Pooky, our main server, was a star! 💫🙏

We four girls visiting Denver enjoyed dinner two nights at Jax. Guess we tried most of the menu, and EVERYTHING we tried was uniquely excellent! The entire staff is super- friendly and efficient, we had a grand time both evenings.

If you’re in the mood for seafood done right in Denver, Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is a gem that blends freshness, sustainability, and lively vibe into a standout experience.
The moment you walk in, you get the sense they take what they do seriously — delicious, responsibly sourced seafood — but they also know how to keep things fun and relaxed. The space feels energetic, with a bar, raw bar action, and an approachable yet polished dining room.
The menu shines in its variety and quality. The oysters and raw bar options are often showstoppers — pristine, briny, beautifully shucked. From there, the seafood entrees don’t disappoint: carefully cooked fish, creative preparations, and sides that complement without overpowering. Whether it’s chowders, shellfish, or the special dishes, each plate feels thoughtfully built.
Service is friendly and knowledgeable; the team seems to truly care about your experience, from recommendations to timing. The drink menu (cocktails, wines, etc.) complements the menu without stealing the spotlight.
Overall, Jax is a go-to for seafood lovers in Denver — a place where you can celebrate freshness, flavor, and a lively dining mood all in one.

I've been to the Jax in Boulder many times and have had a great experience, this was me and my partner's first time going in Denver and we left before even getting a meal. We were first met with strange attitude at the door. We never knew who our server was, it seemed like whoever felt like stopping by. Our oyster order was messed up three separate times, our bread and appetizer order was completely forgotten even after various reminders (we never got it), and nobody checked on us to the point where it was embarrassing. It was totally dead too. Left super sad and got dinner somewhere else.

Food is always solid at Jax. Service was friendly and quick as well, and the wine was tasty.
Excellent food!! Casual, nice ambience. Feels fun. Kieran was fantastic-took great care of us and knowledgable about the oysters!! I had heard that their Oysters Rockefeller were amazing and it's true. My son enjoyed a bunch of varieties of raw oysters as well. It's a winner.
I walked in yesterday to the bar. Not crowded. Sat there for 15 minutes without a menu as the bartender made the slowest cocktail I’ve ever seen made in my life. If this cat worked in New York City, he would start riots.

I was here for their lunch service and had an epic lunch at the bar. The service was as great as the drinks. The oyster selection was decent but lacked some of the favorites (kusshi, well point, Kumamoto). I still enjoyed what was there especially the Hollywood oysters. The oysters were shucked well. You will never go wrong ordering king crab. It was pricey as expected but you get what you pay for... Fresh seafood in downtown Denver. There are cheaper options on the lunch menu but I opted for the cold bar because that's what I go for at places like this.
