Such a cool atmosphere - loved everything about it! The Stag Au Poivre came with an absolutely amazing sauce, the mashed potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had, and fun cocktails!

We’d been meaning to try this place for a long while and we finally were able to go! This place has amazing food! The tastes were beyond worth the wait. We had the venison, squash, and mashed potatoes. Now it sounds basic but the flavor was beyond words. The food was savory and flavorful. It was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were great for the two of us. Each plate is meant to be shared so it’s all al la cart. Lucky for us the venison is a staple there. The menu does change from season on some things. We left with very satisfied stomachs. Not over full and not hungry. I like eating to the 80% mark. Our bar for restaurants is high for the quality of the food and this place rocked it. Not to mention the atmosphere was perfect!

Stag au Pauve and Mushroom Maitaki are two of my favorite dishes in ALL of Denver. My fiancé and I literally crave them specifically! LOVE this place!!

A very interesting romantic modern vibe. The atmosphere and somehow convinced myself to try the frog legs which were actually amazing. The best part was the bartender. His knowledge of chartreuse settled demeanor was perfect for the evening. I sat at the bar and enjoyed cocktails, cocktails, and small plates with an amazing man. Well done to the mixologist 10|18

The food was very well prepared and presented, however we didn't quite love the rustic French cuisine.

La Forêt is a hidden gem in Wash Park West that I only recently discovered. It is quickly making a name for itself so get there ASAP before you have to wait weeks to get a table.
The food is excellent, the atmosphere is very laid-back, and all of the staff are very friendly and inviting. What more can you ask for? I will be back again very soon.

Many of the reviews that I see here are commenting on the atmosphere. Which I agree is spectacular. However, the food that I tasted tonight had every part of my foodie brain singing. My mom and I enjoyed some cocktails and a happy hour appetizer before my brother arrived to dine with us and then we ate family style. I asked for a drink not on their menu, but it came out absolutely perfect, showcasing their bartender's skills.
The biggest star of the night to me was the Venison Steak. I just devoured my left overs to see if the wonderful surroundings made the food taste better and I was instantly transported back to the feeling of the forest. The steak is melt in your mouth and sweet but spiced sauce pairs perfectly with the Australian Filet. I have never had a steak quite like that. Many have told me that the portion size is not worth the price but I will disagree. I have paid the same price for a steak twice as big that didn't leave me licking my to-go box.
The asparagus (topped with a delightful chimichurri) was a very pleasant surprise. I also highly recommend not skipping out on the mushrooms as the selection of wild mushrooms both fits the theme and enlightens the taste buds. I basically fought my mom and brother for the last bites of the cantaloupe salad but I do wish it had more goat cheese as that was delectable.
The only let down of the night was the happy hour appetizer which, do not get me wrong, was not bad at all. But after our incredible meal, the toasted brie was definitely not what we are going to be coming back for.
All and all, go for the pictures but stay for the food. Your tastebuds will thank you.

No notes. Cocktails. French Onion Soup. Beef Bourguignon. Red Stag Venison. Mashed Potatoes. Crème Brûlée. Everything was made to perfection. Certainly on the slightly pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special night out.

La Foret is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was truly top tier attentive, friendly, and made us feel well taken care of from start to finish. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. A wonderful dining experience all around, I’ll definitely be coming back

Most every restaurant screws up asparagus... finally someone whom cares enough to do it right and so much so that it was the highlight of my meal. 5 stars alone just for that! They pick it right - fat spears cooked perfectly yielding quintessential flavor and texture - you don't need horse molars to eat these. Delicious frites and grilled French bread, only the escargot hasn't earned its place in this cast. The Violet Tonic and the Corinchon Spritz were like a virginal kiss from porcelain-faced pixies, both similar but unique at once.... light, crisp, strong color yet blessedly not too sweet with an immaculately clean flavor throughout. And they kept the old priceless Beatrice and Woodsley decor, a place for the pixies to hide. Service was attentive and personable as the bartender sympathized when I asked for a whiskey for the empty bar stool next to me... it was requisite as a great friend had just passed so I was dutifully honoring him.

Pro-tip, if you haven't been here before, I'd suggest coming here after the sun sets (or maybe arriving as it's setting so you don't wait too long for a table).
Why? - Because the decor in here is beautiful and it really all pops once the sun goes down and the ambiance of the lighting kicks in. Very pretty.
Their menu was small, yet versatile and we shared everything at the table so we were able to try a few things.
Food- We ordered the Frites (basically, but was probably my favorite thing), Summer squash (was good, but underwhelming for the price), Half Chicken (loved the sauce that came with it, and if I ordered again would ask for extra sauce), and salad.
Drinks- I ordered the Oolong cocktail. It's a very flashy cocktail, served with dry ice. It's pricing by fun if you're looking for an experience as such.
Great service from hostess, bar staff, and waitstaff.
The bathroom sink is wild and artistic, never seen anything like it before. Who knew a bathroom sink could be so fun.
They don't take reservations, and don't have a ton of tables. Get there before sunset as note earlier and you should be golden. :)

We had been eager to try La Forêt for awhile, but as we live in Fort Collins, there aren’t a lot of opportunities to get to this area of Denver. It did not disappoint! The ambience and decor was fantastic and super cute!
My husband and I shared a few things, the French Onion Soup (although in France don’t they just call it Onion Soup, LOL), the Frites, the Frog legs, asparagus and the venison. All were DELICIOUS!! The venison was done perfectly, charred outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and the peppercorn cream sauce paired super well with it! We also loved our cocktails, although I wish they were a little larger :). The Summer in Provence was divine! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an eclectic French restaurant.
