Location: 3 starts Service: 4.5 stars Food: 3 stars I was a bit perplexed by the location, South Broadway is not nice, and a guy was panhandling on the corner. Not ideal for a nicer restaurant or bar. The service was great, our server was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly and always checked in after every dish. The front of the house was friendly and professional. The decor is a bit fairy tale inspired, not my vibe but it was cozy and broke up the space well. The booths look awkward to sit in for dinner, they seem more loungy. The food was not great. I was hoping to see more French fare on the menu and overall better execution and skill level to the dishes. The frog legs looked like chicken wings, and they didn't do a great job of execution. They could have sauteed them in butter, garlic, some sage, or something more traditional. Also, while they came from Florida and were most likely frozen they did not defrost well and there was too much water in the meat. You could tell it was frozen right away. The beets were good, and liked the rustic look but the plating was lazy. They could have made the goat cheese into a mouse so it would bring the dish together. The crumbs were a bit confusing too. The dish lacked skill and thoughtfulness. The mushrooms were OK but nothing special, they were very saucy. The haricot verts came out overcooked and acidic, they redid them and they were much better, but it was like two different dishes. Finally, the rabbit was very tender, but the sauce with it didn't compliment the flavor of the meat and just drowned it out. For the price, it just felt overpriced, especially since the location and the food did not impress.

So excited this wonderful restaurant is finally open! My friend and I stopped in for some appetizer bites and a cocktail. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful; he offered excellent suggestions and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We each tried a cocktail (small portion for $18-22 but the presentation was cool) and split the potatoes, beets, and French onion soup (probably one of the best versions I've ever had). The main attraction is inarguably the pristine forest setting inside; as someone who LOVES trees, this brought such a peaceful and blissful experience to the interior space for me. The bathroom itself was a lovely touch. I'd love to come back for a special occasion. :)

The ambiance is amazing here. Loved the baked brie and the French onion soup was so rich and delicious. Got the half chicken and beef Bourguinon and both were good but i wish the chicken had some kind of veggie, even just like 2 carrots or something. Will likely stick to the smaller plates next time as I enjoyed those a bit more. The creme brulee was amazing, my fiance really enjoyed the paris brest. Tried the two brothers and yellow rose cocktails and both were very good.

La Foret retained all the magic that was Beatrice & Woodsley back in the day. I had drinks and light bites with a friend at the bar. Our bartenders were friendly and attentive, making sure we had all we needed and wanted. Do not miss their frog legs, the perfectly crisp and thin frites, or the sublime trout dip.

Think Lothlórien meets rustic French cabin. The escargot is warming and expands, and the lighting alone allows you to feel the depth of the company you're with. There's a whimsical nature, and I imagine the inside is similar to that of a fairy garden. An entire experience. We were quite literally ushered into the door and the service was welcoming for all. Nothing short of lovely.

Their 4-5 menu was all an entire hit. We sat at the bar and the service was amazing! It’s going to be pricey if you want to have more than one drink, but everything is delicious and I’d say worth it for a great night out at a really cool spot.

Everything was spectacular! I love that they kept some of the same aesthetic from the previous restaurant, but updated and made improvements! The service was great, and the food was phenomenal. We had the Maitake Mushrooms and the Half Chicken and they were perfectly filling and the chef did amazing with adding duck fat to the chicken. I will definitely be back as this is a new favorite place on South Broadway!

My husband and I had a sublime dining experience at La Foret. From the warm welcome to the enchanting ambiance, it was a treat. The Beef Bourguignon and Half Chicken were culinary masterpieces, bursting with flavor. The cocktails were equally delightful. What truly sets La Foret apart is the exceptional service and attention to every detail, which made us feel very special. Highly recommend!

The food and drinks were impeccable!I also love that they kept the unique aspects of the former restaurant but have expanded on them. It's such an inviting and whimsical atmosphere. Also want to note that it's worth taking a trip to the restrooms to check out the cool doors and sink faucetOur server was great - my one piece of feedback would be that the bussing staff were a bit quick to swipe up our plates before we were finished, making us feel a bit rushed. One of our drinks (the La Forêt) was picked up off the table with still at least a finger of drink left in the glass - since they just grabbed it as they walked past we didn't have a chance to stop them. That being said, obviously the food and drinks are amazing enough that we wanted to eat every last morsel!

Today was their official opening day after soft openings last week. I opened my email after work at 3:45pm and found out they were opening at 4pm for Pastis Hour. So I walked over for a cocktail. Pastis is a French liquer that was invented in the 1930's after absinthe was banned. It was like I remembered it when I was in Arles, France in Sept 2022. They serve it in a tall cocktail glass with ice cubes, cold water in a beaker and mint syrup. The ice cubes and water are meant to dilute the liquer, but it is not required. You can add mint syrup to flavor it. But I forgot to take a photo. The Pastis Happy Hour has several other cocktails and small bites. I got an order of escargot (6 snails) with a hazelnut-chartreuse sauce and 3 pieces of crunchy bread and an order of frites with a garlic-rosemary aioli. Great small bites. There is regular dinner service is from 5pm-11pm. Currently no reservations. No wine available this week. The space was formely Beatrice & Woolsey. They added more wood features with lots of tree trunks and branches, better seating throughout the dining space. The entrance to the restrooms are still funky and the inside has plenty of tile with woodsy accents. I was served by Kole, a pleasant person. I met several other bar staff and the French owner.

Loving this space has been reactivated with a worthy restaurant concept. Dropped in with friends for cocktails and bites. Enjoyed a full meal of share plates including perfect elk au poivre, the best rabbit I've ever consumed, deliciously brined chicken, and escargot to round out the proteins. On the forage end, enjoyed the mushrooms, broccolini, molten brie, succulent baby beets and delightfully crisped frites. All plates were solid, there were no disappointments. Sampled a couple of cocktails and we savored a quality bottle of bordeaux. Service from Milo and team was attentive and entertaining. This is a wonderfully unique environment to share with unsuspecting friends, unlike anything else in Denver and an ambience I'd expect in New York or the West Coast. The bathroom sinks from Beatrice & Woodsley have been preserved, which joyfully involve some mental gymnastics to operate. Can't wait to visit again! Coming back for that artichoke!

We went to the friends and family (pre-opening) dinner yesterday evening. I'd generally say that I'm always skeptical about reading Yelp reviews made early in a restaurant's review history; as they often seem scripted and littered with bias by close relatives and friends to establishments. - I hope you can find value and honesty in my review below even though my wife and I fall within La Foret's friend group. Ambiance in the entire space is creatively constructed to give a feel of an immersion in a forest with tasteful arrangements and comfortable lighting and seating. Real aspen trees flank you and canopies of green provide a cozy intimacy. The bar is focal and beautifully composed. Great lighting. Service was excellent and everyone was attentive and friendly. Food and drinks came rather quickly and the overall pace/cadence of service was enjoyable. Staff is brand new and of course everyone was pouring on their best. We enjoyed and they were all doing their best and everything left us an impression of a good job. Drinks Cocktail menu was very creative and the level of bar offerings was upper end to top-shelf. We didn't try specific "specialty cocktail menu drinks" until the end of our run, - a dramatic "presentation cocktail" along with our dessert that completely transformed our palettes. A warm infusion with unique flavors and left us with a visual journey to remember. Cuisine Small share plates and the desserts were all that we tried - non of the protein entrees. Overall the flavors and the portions were great. Fries were notably good, crispy and served with a nice aioli, Other dishes we enjoyed were the grilled artichoke and Maitaki mushroom. Broccolini and Pom purée paired wonderfully together and of course (as it's a French influence on the menu) we had no shortage of comforting and delicious melted butter in the purée and within the Maitaki sauce. Glad we were so lucky to be included in their pre-opening. We'll go back and we wish the new Foret establishment the best of luck. Denver's got a great new forest on south Broadway!!
