Food itself was delicious. Vibes of the restaurant were insanely weird. The bathrooms are literally in union station? But you’re paying hundreds for a meal? Idk, bizarre. Every interaction with the waitress was awkward and it took ages for her to show up between drinks and meals. Waited 40 minutes for her to bring the check before grabbing someone else.

Again the food itself was good but the meal wasn’t worth the prices or atmosphere. It was also basically empty from 7pm onward on a Saturday.

ALSO there are an absolutely silly amount of fees. There’s one for union station something or other; and a second one based on a percent of the bill.

All in all I wouldn’t recommend this place. Take the couple hundred you would have spent and go elsewhere

We had amazing service from Nicki in the bar! She was kind enough to let us eat over there and took excellent care of us, made great recommendations and looked out for our kiddo when he unexpectedly lost a baby tooth at the table. Sadly she had to leave before we paid and no one else in the bar cared to come check in on us after that which was kind of a a bummer. She had very sweetly put in a dessert for our son that he enjoyed but we were not able to order anything else for the table or anymore drinks. I would definitely still recommend, and the food was incredible!!!

A nice dinner turned nightmare. My wife and I went there with our toddler. My wife is five months pregnant and allergic to seed oils. We asked them very specifically to cook food for her that did not have any seed oils due to her allergy. They came back and brought out the first plate, the server said after we double checked with her it was safe for her and no seed oils were used. It was very nice, the chef came over and checked on us, but my wife was starting to not feel good, so we asked another server to double check with the chef what oil was used as we specifically multiple times made sure they were aware she is allergic to seed oils. The server came back and said they roasted the potatoes in canola oil and olive oil. My wife hasn’t eaten any seed oils since she found out she was allergic years ago until this restaurant lied to us. Don’t trust them, and don’t trust the food. It’s the next day and my wife is still feeling horrible.

Tried the roasted beet salad and short rib with polenta. Both were spot on — the salad had bright acidity balancing the earthiness, and the short rib fell apart perfectly. The place has a modern rustic vibe with an open kitchen. Staff were attentive but not intrusive, making it easy to just enjoy the food!

Food is fantastic and the restaurant is modern and hip. I think this is a great place for a date or a business gathering. Service is also great.

We visited Mercantile, a supposed 5-star restaurant in Denver, CO, and were thoroughly let down by the experience.

From the moment we arrived, we stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment. Once seated, we waited another 20 minutes before a server even approached to take our order, as no one seemed to take responsibility for our table.

Service issues persisted throughout the meal. Our water glasses were left empty multiple times, requiring us to just pour the water ourselves from a nearby water stand.

We requested a high chair for our young son, but it took an unreasonably long time to be brought to our table, making it difficult to manage our meal comfortably. Similarly, we asked multiple times for a drink for our child, but it way too long for it to arrive.

The food was equally disappointing. The charcuterie board we ordered had such small portions that it felt like a rip-off for the price, nowhere near worth the cost for a 5-star establishment. Not only was our bread burnt, the meat and cheese sizes were laughable as well.

To top it off, the bill included a mysterious “Union Building Fee” that was never disclosed upfront, just really putting the nail in the coffin for us. For a restaurant with a 5-star reputation, the lack of attentiveness, poor service, overpriced food, and hidden fees made this one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. We won’t be returning.

We loved the Italian sandwich and Irish coffee. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. I enjoyed my meal in a cozy and upscale atmosphere.

Loved this place. Food was fantastic- loved the eggplant, the octopus was tender, the endive salad was delish. I did not love the risotto - I found the corn added too much sweetness. (I have less sweet and salt tolerance than the average person). The bread basket of Hawaiian buns was also perfect! Warm with a thin shiny coating of butter.

Servers were knowledgeable, they can even compile a menu for you if you won’t want to think too much about it.

Space and ambiance were peaceful, beautiful lighting abound from the tall ceilings. The furniture generally looked like natural materials.

Accessible from both inside and outside union station. Michelin mention for the year!

Great spot. We had the sharing platter and steak frites. The steak was cooked beautifully with a very flavourful chimichurri sauce. Staff were great.

Great service with friendly, helpful staff. Food was delicious. We had the lamb, cod, pasta carbonara, and the carrots - incredible and unlike anything I’ve had before. My favorite was dessert - a bread pudding churro (maybe among my top 5 desserts of all time). It’s a full dining experience, so expect to be there at least 2 hours for dinner.

I dined at The Mercantile for the first time last week and it exceeded expectation! We had Andrew as our server and his passion for food is contagious! We had an absolutely incredible culinary experience. From top to bottom everything was delicious. From the incredible provisions board, to the asparagus and endive salad, to the spring risotto. Next step was the scallop ceviche and black cod and dry aged New York. We finished with a recommendation from Andrew, an olive oil cake and it was perfection! Of course, all paired with the perfect champagne and wine! Have one cocktail The service, the ambience and the food made for a super memorable night! We will definitely be back!
