This place has good food, but I thought it personally was not as good as neighboring American restaurants. There was kind of a weird vibe when we walked in, but other than that, service was good. Not sure if I would come back, but nothing was really wrong with the food or cocktails. Maybe it would be better for Brunch.

Was looking for an art show I saw here last year along with dinner. Unfortunately the art show is at another place this year but very happy I found this place and will be returning. Food was very good!

What happened to Modis? It used to be good food and great service. The last couple of experiments have been disappointing. My friends and I showed up for happy hour and they said their chef was late and they would open in an hour is so. We went somewhere else. Today my family and I went for happy hour/dinner. There was one other group of 4 there, it took 40 minutes to get our food. The mussels were rubbery the bread was stale, the ribeye was over cooked and the chicken strips were over cooked. I will not be back.

MODIS WILL STEAL YOUR SECURITY DEPOSITMy wife and I had a reservation for our wedding dinner on 9/27 for 14 people. We had the great pleasure of finding this reservation would not be honored by the sign posted to the door as we (thankfully) walked by two days before our wedding. Keep in mind we are from North Carolina and drove across the country. This reservation was made in February and no one called or if they did, no one left me a message. This reservation was to celebrate our wedding, so I am sure you can understand how disappointed and upset we were. If we had not made it by two days prior, we would have been standing outside your restaurant on the 27th evening like fools. We would like to have the $280 we paid to reserve my group refunded.See attached photos for proof of payment and the closer notice on the door. We have called the restaurant multiple times and have not received help. One of the employees gave us the number of the owner, who has not answered or responded to any voicemails.

Great Location Downtown. Really great artwork and ambience. The staff just amazing one on one service. I always apricate when the person tacking our order sits down with us and answers question and guides us to have an amazing dining experience which we did. I had the Ribeye that I shared with my wife. We've never had a better ribeye. the large portion and quality very modest price, I think. every bite savored including next day leftovers. The cheesecake amazing. There was an onion soup that we just did not care for and we felt very comfortable to let them know. They took it off the final bill. We were only in Denver for a week so glad this place was recommended to us. Next time in town we will most certainly stop by. Highly recommend Modis in the City for a wonderful dining experience

The scallops were DELICIOUS! My palate was singing eating that appetizer. Got the short rib for the entree, unfortunately both the short rib and polenta did not have enough seasoning. The salad that came with it was exceptional- great balance of acidity and sweetness, just unfortunate that the salad stood out more than the protein. The dish was also a bitIt too greasy. The waiter was great! The music was very enjoyable & the drinks were yummy (definitely on the stronger side) definitely would return for those scallops and to try more stuff on the menu

I saw some bad reviews on Modi's but decided to ignore them as the building itself looks amazing. This is a warning, DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. We went for the first time for Valentines Day. When we got there, a no older than 10-year old girl was at the host desk. It took 3 workers asking if we had a reservation (we did and arrived on time) and 15 minutes to get sat even though there was max 4 tables sat and every other table was open. They just asked for reservation, would walk away and not come back. After we were finally sat we were disappointed that the table had nothing on it to celebrate the day. Not even a candle. But that's not a big deal to me. 3 servers seemed to cover 8 tables. But it still took 20 minutes for anyone to ask us for drinks and it happened to be the bartender who came over for “relief”. This restaurant was not busy at all! I'll save the details but every stage of the eating/drinking process took minimum of 20 minutes. The app came out at the same time as the meal but was extremely cold. We asked them to take it back but they ignored our request several times and kept it on the bill vs taking off or replacing the app. My girlfriend went up to the owner to ask to close the window (it's cold in denver in February) to which he replied “can you leave me alone?!”. He did turn around and realize it was a guest vs his 10-year old daughter who was still at the restaurant. He apologized but walked off and it was just weird overall. The food was just ok but to be fair I knew this going in. I've never written a negative review but after this miserable dining experience on a day where restaurants really should shine, I need to warn everyone about this horrible place.

My wife and I enjoyed a great Friday night dinner at Modis especially the mystery of a non-published menu. The BOGO happy hour was amazing and Kyle did a great job as our server explaining dishes and taking great care of us. We had a nice seat by the fireplace and am excited to keep going back...especially when weather breaks to dine outside. Thank you and highly recommended!

Went to dinner for NYE and unfortunately the restaurant was super short staffed so service wasn’t great but I really appreciate those workers that did show up, just wished they would have stopped seating more guests and focused on serving the ones that were already there. Atmosphere was amazing and the carbonara was delicious. Hope to visit again in the future with a better experience!

It’s unfortunate but the kitchen/bar has changed here. Menu was very basic and the flavors were bland on every dish. When they opened I had several great meals but the most recent meal in dec 2022 was not great. Chicken Marsala had too much vinegar/wine and the calamari steak was way overcooked. Everything was semi edible so 2 stars not 1

I really want to see this place succeed. The food was really good. We started with the fries and I got the stuffed bell pepper as my main. Both were delicious. We also got a bottle of champagne that was delightful.Unfortunately this place was so understaffed on NYE that we got sat half an hour late. It was another half an hour before waters even show up on our table. The cook staff also seemed overwhelmed as they undercooked my friend’s chicken dish. The staff was super friendly and nice and tried their very hardest to give everyone the attention they need. They also comp’ed my friend’s dish and an order of fries which was nice.I am hoping to return when it isn’t as chaotic of a night and I can truly experience everything Modis has to offer.

Terrible NYE's experience. I initially made a res for 8 people at 7:00 pm. A few friends dropped out due to being sick, so I called and then changed the res to 5 people at 7:30 pm. The host who I spoke with said that this was no problem and worked perfectly.Once we showed up, the hostess couldn't find my reservation (the initial online res, nor any record of the phone call earlier) and asked me who I spoke with on the phone...I had no idea. She then 15 minutes later set up a table for us and rudely led us over. Once we finally got some service and water brought over after sitting at the table for almost 30 minutes, the "pastry chef" came over and complained that all of his staff called out sick today and he seemed super annoyed and pissed off. Sorry dude but that's not our problem and you could have called hours ago (or told me when I had called) that you guys needed to cancel our res. The food is alright, nothing special at all, terribly overpriced. $400 for 5 people and we only each had one drink. Given this horrible experience, we obviously won't be back. Too bad as my wife and I had been wanting to try Modis for months..

Very obviously understaffed for new years and drinks / food were subpar and small portioned for the price. Due to a 45 min wait to even get our first drink they did comp the round, which was appreciated.

Let me start by saying that I really want to love this place. I love their Breckinridge location but this one in Denver is not good. I've been several times for happy hour and that has been fine. Have gone twice for dinner and both times have been disappointing. Had reservations for New Years and boy did they fall short. First of all, what fine dining restaurant doesn't have a wine list? I was told that the wee is a basic red or white... which would I like? My husband asked for the beer list and we were told they had no beer (although it was on the menu) because they had distributor problems. What restaurant on New Years Eve wouldn't run out to the grocery store and buy some beer? Had the muscles for an appetizer and they were tasty, but did not come with toast points and their usual muscle appetizer does. Then the worst part of this is the entree. I ordered the NYE special pork chop with chimichuri sauce. The pork chop was RAW. I called over a manager and showed him and he told me it was “medium rare!” Since when does pork come in medium rare? He took it away and offered nothing- no fix, no removal I'm from the bill, nada. After my husband finished his salmon (which he said was good) we received a “free bread pudding”. It was tasty, but really? That's how you compensate for a raw entree that cost $38? My guess is this place will be closed up for the new year. Just couldn't get their act together. Makes me never want to go to their Breck location if this is how they treat their customers

What a delightful gem of a restaurant! This place will not disappoint. From the moment we were welcomed by Katie Hostess/Server/Menu Coordinator/Engaging Personality to Denny our Server , Chef D , and the Pasty Chef/Chocolatier our taste buds were beyond satisfied. They are introducing a new menu and have a speakeasy available Wednesday through Saturday. Strong cocktail and wine selection too. As the word gets out how good this place is get ready for great success ! The focus is global comfort food and new exciting dishes are in the plan. Recommend the Tots, Charcuterie, Brussels Sprouts and Grilled Bib Salad. Not to be missed is the Pumpkin Cheesecake which will change your mind about traditional cheesecake !
