Somewhat pains me to update this review (from OpenTable), but a recent visit has left me feeling incredibly disappointed.Sat at the bar on a Wednesday evening, solo. Bartender gave me menus but did not say "Hello," "Good evening," "How are you?," etc., and was quick to walk away. It felt like the bare minimum was met at every step of service. Everything was as direct and brief as it could be, and was ignored when conversations did not need to happen. It was not just myself, either. The other patrons at the bar were contentedly ignored as well, and offered the same brevity I was when interacted with. That is, until a couple came in who the female bartender clearly knew as regulars or friends, and she could not stop happily chatting with them. It made me feel like I was wildly unappreciated as a customer.Come the end of the night when it was time to pay, I paid in full with cash. I lingered a while to ensure the bartender saw that there was cash waiting for her, but never looked my way. Even if I was paying with card, I was there for far too long unnoticed. Finally, I simply gave up and left, thinking to myself that if someone else plucks up the cash and the bar doesn't get paid, it's out of my hands. I was not wished a good evening, said "Thank you" to, or any form of farewell. The food was delicious, as expected. Cooked perfectly and flavorful, so there is no complaints about that in the slightest.I work in the area as a bartender, myself. To witness firsthand the dichotomy in quality of service offered stunned me. I had previously happily recommended A5, because my past experiences as table with servers were always positive. However, this has made me reconsider how eagerly I recommend this place. If I ever return to A5, I will not sit at the bar again. I feel the automatic 20% gratuity added to each bill has instilled complacency with sub-par standards in the two working that night.

Divine bartending skills and most importantly personalities! The absolute best fries I ever had, yes I'm talking about french fries here! Must try! Drinks the dirty martini but best part the blue cheese olives made in house. Oysters the West coast Oysters, so full and succulent with a light sweetness definitely worth the cost. I do love that the shucker broke down the protein weight and nutritional components that affirm the cost. That understanding alone is worth a pretty penny. The steaks last but certainly not least we're great. The quality of the meat and the story your able to read prior to making the decision helps your experience as you bite into there perfectly peppered steaks. We had to get another batch of fries of course. They were too good to pass up. Oh! The Japanese Whiskey!!! Excellent pallet enhancer and your breathe in the notes once with mouth closed and secondly with mouth open, then sip to take your pallet on a journey through a divine beverage experience! Can I say more... I actually can but ill let your experience Speak for itself. Thank you!

One of the best steak places in Denver. I love their modern take on the classics.

Worst steakhouse ever. Unseasoned food, undercooked, unknowledgeable staff, spent 500$ but would rather have Wendy’s. Go to shanahans people, can’t wait til this place closes and hope the owner goes bankrupt and his wife leaves

The food was fantastic but the atmosphere was a bit much and I'm not the sensitive type. We had an early dinner reservation and the music was already blasting to the point it was difficult to converse with my partner across the table, and our waiter was shouting and repeating himself to be heard. It only got louder as the place filled up.Might order takeout in the future

Had a great experience here last night. We got there right before happy hour ended, and our server, Adam, made sure that we got what we wanted from the menu just in time and kept checking in. He was awesome he explained the menu very well and answered all our questions. The food was amazing. The steak was cooked medium rare like we asked and it came out great. Will definitely be going back and recommending it to everyone.

Great experience! Loved the place. It's not your classic steakhouse, the inside is way more funky with green, flamingos, and such. The atmosphere is a tad more relaxed as well.Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only person who worked against everyone else seemed to be the hostess. Don't ruin servers' good job! They are great. The food was outstanding. It took us a while to find a steak in Denver that we would enjoy over cooking ourselves. We started with shrimp cocktail, which was very good, but not to the level of the rest of the evening. I guess we were surprised it had no kick at all, but the sauce was tasty, just not very intense. Then, we had the mains: bavette, dry aged NY strip (special, not always available), fries (risk of cross-contamination for GF people), and broccolini. The meat was just perfect and delicious. The aioli that comes with fries is incredible and a bit lemony. The broccolini surprised us, being very flavourful as well, but I could not explain what was done to them. Finally, we ate the meat with Thai Chili and Bordelaise sauces - the first one being light, bright, and just a bit spicy, the second rich and delicious.Overall, we are already thinking about stopping for a happy hour someday. While they do not have dedicated gluten free dishes, our server was very helpful in navigating the menu and learning where there are risks of cross-contamination or where soy sauce is added. After all, steak itself is safe, so it's easy to get an amazing dinner while being GF. Try it!

We had a reservation and asked for a table by the window when we arrived. Most were open but we were told they were already reserved. We were seated upstairs. The food was great and the service was as well. We left an hour or so later and several tables by the window were still open. I asked again and was told we could request a window table on our reservation but that it couldn’t be guaranteed. Obviously, that isn’t true since there were several window tables open the entire time that we were in the restaurant. We may go back but it wasn’t a five star experience.

Great spot if you're looking for all the meats you can get. Their A5 just melts in your mouth. Tomahawk ribeye was insane, it comes out on a giant silver platter. The chair I sat in was broken, glad I had caught that before it completely fell apart.

Food was a solid B+. The beef tartar sliders were excellent as was the bacon kimchi fried rice. The 20% service charge added to bill, however, was very off-putting. Waiter informed us that this was shared among the restaurant staff and any extra gratuity goes directly to the server. I typically tip a minimum of 30% and appreciate hard working servers that are attentive and engaging. The owner should pay his employees more and remove this automatic service charge. I cant imagine anyone wanting to be a server here if you can hustle and earn more tips at other premium restaurants.

A5 is theeeee best!!! The staff is incredible and the food is to die for. The bartenders are some of the greatest guys you can meet. Make the place feel like home. I would highly recommend to anyone
