I have major food allergies and a very limited diet. There is no way I would force my husband/family to eat what I have to eat. For years I have made 2 meals every night. Now that we are empty nesters, it became hard to force myself to make something nutritional & tasty for my husband when I can even taste it. Finally decided meal boxes was a great solution for his meals. We were doing the Hello boxes, but they switched the warehouse and were shipping our meals from Texas. Then I found Prefare. they are local, use local providers, and have minimal packaging. Love all that. I hated the waste that the other boxes had.
My husband has enjoyed all the meals that I have made. Since it is just for him, I split a box between 2 days. Most boxes are super easy to split so he gets a fresh meal every night. They are also, easy enough that it's not a hassle to make separate meals for the two of us.

I found out about this at the Belmar 4th of July event. I was told I could get 6 free meals if I signed up. I have gotten 2 and now I am getting charged for meals I didn't ask for. I am pretty upset.
update: so there's some miscommunication on both parties and things have been resolved I do appreciate them for explaining everything to me and helping me fix the situation I will admit these foods are delivered at an amazing time and they are delicious foods and I hope people keep ordering from them.

I signed up w prefare at a farmers market a couple weeks ago. Everyone I interacted with who worked there was so awesome and friendly. I love their business model and how it is not a reoccurring subscription. So far I've had a great experience with their meals. The instructions for how to cook and the way it is packaged is very straightforward and simple. I would definitely recommend trying this service out.

I have been ordering meal kits from Prefare for about 6 weeks now and average 3-4/week. Not a single dud in the bunch! All have been superbly tasty & easy to make. After a busy day at work and with kids these kits have been a game changer allowing me to make a great dinner in about 15 minutes. I also appreciate the reasonable portion sizes that help me not overeat. I do not have a single criticism. Highly recommend.

The meals are delicious and offer a ton of variety. They only take about 15 minutes to put together. The packaging is minimal so there is less waist. We have been getting weekly meals from Prefare over the last 7 months. The food, selection, and customer service is top notch. We have tried other meal service companies (local and chain) and nothing compares to the flavor and quality of the meals from Prefare. Every meal is minimal prep, easy to follow directions, and most of them take 30 min or less (everything that you need is included). We have never had a meal that we didn’t like! We live pretty far out (Elizabeth) and they still deliver to us for no extra charge. They have helped this busy family out so much and we cannot recommend them enough!

Update 2023:Here’s what I wish I knew before:Chicken is always weird. Sometimes it smells. Sometimes it’s off. Sometimes it’s got a weird texture.We used to deal with passive aggressive responses from the owner whenever we’d send an email complaint. Our friends had the same experience. That seems to be better managed now that the company has grown.Would love a “favorites” option on the account so I can like certain dishes and remember to avoid others.There used to be an option to review dishes. Would love to have online reviews on the website so I could assess whether we’ll like a dish.****We echo all the positive comments! We also have switched from other meal prep services; this local option is the BEST. Fresh, creative, delicious, less waste. We've ended up subscribing to more meals/week compared to other services because the quality and price are totally worth it.

We're huge fans of Prefare! We've tried several of the national companies that ship overnight in big boxes with lots of dry ice and packaging materials. Instead, with Prefare, a local company preps local ingredients and a friendly driver (sometimes the company owner) brings it to our door. The ingredients are prepped further than kits we've tried in the past, so it takes less time to cook. There are several choices each week (6-8 options) and even the "simple" meals are above and beyond (for example, chicken tacos come with a great tomatillo sauce and/or creama). We consider ourselves foodies and we're always impressed with the meals. Ohhh, and our kids LOVE to help with the final assembly! Thanks Prefare for making weeknight cooking an easier and tastier task!
