For this place to say things like they aim to make the best pizza ever tasted, etc, those are some pretty big claims to fall short of even decent pizza. Too greasy, the dough is honestly what makes or breaks a pizza, and their dough is hard and flat. Maybe other people like their pizza like this but I don't. Not mad about it, they just talk a big talk for it to be a huge let down.

John, the owner, has an amazing welcoming personality and gives you the neighborhood feel you’re likely looking for.
One of the best in Denver, if you like a thin and crisp Neapolitan this will not disappoint. In my top 5 favorite pizzas in the state. But if you told me this was your favorite I wouldn't judge you.

I first stumbled into Proto’s Pizza back in 2011 on a trip in Denver —just a random stop that left a lasting impression. Ever since, I’ve been chasing the memory of that perfect pie, but somehow never managed to find it again… until now. It was even better than I remembered. After 14 years of searching, Proto’s didn’t just live up to the memory—it surpassed it! Jon, the owner was also great and awesome to see him interact and converse with everyone who walked in the door.
If you’re a pizza lover, don’t sleep on this place .

Everyone has their favorite style of pizza, so it’s impossible to please everyone—but Proto’s nails it for me every time. The quality has never wavered—always consistent, never greasy, and the thin crust is absolute perfection. They offer a fantastic variety of fresh toppings and creative blends that keep things interesting, while still mastering the classics.
