Proto’s is a true Denver classic as it has been open for over two decades and still turning out some yummy pizza. The food is thoughtful and detail-oriented, from the perfectly crisp dough to the housemade desserts.
Favorites included the Savory Panini, the Hula Pie with fresh pineapple and ham, and the Aunt Phil espresso with Sambuca. The tiramisu and cannoli were excellent too.
Warm service, great wine list, and approachable pricing make Proto’s one of those rare spots that feels timeless.

Wow! Hadn't been here in a very long time. Was glad to see it was still open. Pizza was great-rich tomatoey sauce and crispy thin crust. Service was excellent. John, the bartender, was really friendly and attentive. The whole staff seemed nice. Price for a small pizza was also surprisingly reasonable. Will be back!

For this place to say things like they aim to make the best pizza ever tasted, etc, those are some pretty big claims to fall short of even decent pizza. Too greasy, the dough is honestly what makes or breaks a pizza, and their dough is hard and flat. Maybe other people like their pizza like this but I don't. Not mad about it, they just talk a big talk for it to be a huge let down.
