Stand outs for us were the Trout with Parsley Butter Rice, Black Eyes Peas, Grits, and Squash Salad.

Jacob was a phenomenal server in this new restaurant that brings southern fare to Denver’s Five Points! While the drink menu here is fun enough to warrant its own visit, the food was truly outstanding. The crab salad was an amazing starter - fresh, lemoney, with well seasoned crackers. Grits and Grillades was our favorite main - a shareable size with flavor packed into the short rib style beef and grits. Collard green as a side were GOOD - I say this as a southerner with high expectations for my greens. And the cream peas were also phenomenal, packed with flavor. My favorite dessert was the rice pudding with fresh peaches but dont let that stop you for ordering one of everything - especially plum sorbet if they have it!
There’s plenty of space for this concept to expand their New Orleans inspired atmosphere and I can’t wait to see what’s next on the menu, but I’ll really be back because Jacob made the experience so much fun.

this restaurant has changed me in the best ways possible. Perfect lighting. Staff that actually care about people and like each other. Food was moaning-the-entire-time GOOD! The chef is a genius, kitchen staff is all impeccable (shoutout Calvin) and our server Jacob was spicy and sweet. Everything was perfect definitely do not leave without trying the grits dish, the catfish, and the collard greens salad. The music was also incredible and the space was so welcoming. Definitely will be making many trips from northern Colorado to Denver for this one.

Amazing cocktails, some of the best and most creative I have had. Really well balanced and not too sweet. Food was great too. I am not very familiar with southern food but everything we tried was delicious! Lots of vegetarian choices. Definitely try the black eyed pea salad and the peanuts.

The catfish, chicken on a stick, and blue cheese tart were all dishes I won’t soon forget. Cocktails were all delicious, and the muffuletta martini may have made me a martini convert. Rougarou is one of my new favorite Denver restaurants! I dined at the bar later in the evening and experienced such hospitality. We were greeted with a champagne toast and proceeded to order the Champagne Killer and the Bananas Foster Julep. WOW. Let's just say I ordered a second Champagne Killer. For food, we had some of the smaller plates including the Crab Salad, Smoked Catfish dish and the Blue Cheese Tart. We then shared the chicken entree with the white bbq sauce and the chicken just melted right off the bone. To die for.
Overall fabulous experience. Wonderful ambience, exceptional hospitality and delicious food. I will be back!

Rougarou is a triumph for Denver’s food scene. Their Southern inspired kitchen hits on all marks. Impeccable grits, delicious desserts, and what is soon-to-be famous, their chicken on a stick.
The menu is very balanced, leaving plenty of options for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Granddad’s Chicken was unbelievable, one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had.
Service was warm and prompt, and timing on dishes was near perfection. I wasn’t drinking that evening, and was surprised with a lovely semi-bitter n/a spritz.
Run, don’t walk to Rougarou, and be prepared for one of the best meals Denver has to offer.

Do not miss out on Grandad’s chicken - literally fell off the bone and you will want every last drop of the sauce. We had a group of 8 who came here tonight for a birthday and everything was amazing! Service from Eliza and the rest of the staff was top notch, and every dish was incredible. We had a perfect experience, and they added in extras for the birthday girl. My husband even left his hat and Eliza ran out to give it to him 😆 Can’t wait to come back!
