We had a senior citizen in our group of 40 year olds. They didn't have an ID, and then the establishment refused to seat our party claiming that it was the "law". Been to plenty of bars in Denver...wasn't an issue with them.

Such a fun speakeasy vibe! Delicious custom cocktails or you can go for the classics.

Interesting place. The staff are way too particular about a lot of things making the experience less enjoyable. For example, I ordered a breakfast sammy and asked if they can cut it in half, they declined. I feel like that’s a great summary.

A cool place with a great vibe and good drinks but the staff was simply mean. We showed up in waves for a mid size group which initially they stated was okay, then they became really angry with. We asked for an extra chair and it felt we were disciplined by the waitstaff. We then asked for our check as we felt remarkably unwelcome and the waitstaff passively said “there’s no rush,” despite constant horrible energy since our awkward arrival. (To make matters worse, one member of our party forgot her ID and when she arrived, the door was unmanned so she got through, then didn’t have ID. This was well after we were being shamed for being there, but certainly didn’t help.)Overall, wouldn’t go here as a group. A great spot for a date night/double date. Drinks were great and menu was interesting and different.

A unique concept for sure; hard to find with a faux barricade to entry. The exclusivity and kitsch doesn’t match the performance of the bar staff, who seem to be running around confused and hurried. The menu being a playing card deck is a fun concept, but the result seems to be the most basic iteration of the cocktail ordered; no flair, basic garnish, and no panache behind it: it’s just given to you and the bartender leaves. For the premium speakeasy experience this is, I’d expect the bartenders to be a bit more engaged with their customers, especially on a Thursday evening where the place isn’t anywhere near full.

Run for the Roses was recommended by a bartender friend of ours as the best bar in Denver and even with the bar set high, we agreed that it was indeed a top notch bar and lived up to the hype. It's easier to get in as a small party than a large party. We were immediately seated at 830pm on a Saturday as a party of two. The staff were friendly and attentive. There are 52+ drinks to choose from including the seasonal a and the deck of cards. Once you order, you can keep the deck to play card games at the table. Both of our drinks were presented well and were very tasty. TLDR; creative bar setting and menu, the deck of cards at the table are a nice touch. Great for a date night. Expect to wait if you have a large party.

What an unnecessary level of pretense for Denver. The bar is half empty, but there’s a 30 minute line because the host seats one group at a time and then disappears for 15 minutes between parties.Edit: Eventually got inside in time to meet friends for one very quick cocktail. It was delicious and the bartender was attentive. It seems like it would be easier to just have one person check ids and get party sizes when there is a line to get people seated faster, even if it takes just as long to order and be served. Even if you do make a reservation, you still have to stand in line indefinitely with the current system because no one is at the host stand.

Great evening with friends. Night ended with bartender asking us for hats back from our drinks? $500 at bar and they want a 10 cent back from a drink! Poor customer service.

Very nice experience. Cocktails are blasting with flavor. One of the best cocktail bars I have been to across all of North America. Interesting take to the menu - see the cards they use for their menu in the picture. Must go place if you're in Denver.

Guys, why ruin it at the end?I had a decent whiskey. It was $22. Fine, whatever. But wait! Automatic 18% charge for service. But wait! Now we tax on not only the drink but also that additional 18% and suddenly we’re at $28. Oh and now there’s a charge for the facility and what’s this? A tip line? Well I guess I should leave a couple bucks…And now, presto change-o, it’s $30 for one drink. If you want to charge $30 for a whiskey, have the guts to charge $30 for a whiskey. That’s a bad move but at least it’s straightforward. You can keep your end-of-the-night subterfuge, thanks.

A local told me of this unique bar. Love how it was a speakeasy vibe but easy to get in. Love the idea of the cards to pick a drink.

The drinks here are exceptional. Best drinks I’ve had here in Denver by a long shot! I’ve been here twice. They were busy both times and service was as awesome as the drinks.I’ve read some of the 1-star reviews around lack of service. I think y’all got very unlucky and should give it another shot. 6-7:30 seems to be the best times to come if you want to avoid the crowd.

This was a secret find! You enter the door in an alley to find roses on the floor that lead to an elevator. We took it down and followed the roses to an old school hotel check in. We were given a deck of cards pulled from a classic mailbox and was taken to our table. We had the coolest experience with the deck of cards. The decor made for a laid back vibe. Comfortable seating and never got to loud. Although we didn't order food people around has small bites that looked super tasty! We just had our cocktails and finished with the perfect espresso martini!

Very cool dimly lit underground speakeasy! Service was very friendly and helpful explaining their fun and unique menu system. The majority of cocktails are very classic and stick to tradition. I wish they had a couple more unique cocktails on their main menu. I would say the drinks we ordered were decent but not exemplary. Definitely worth a one time visit for the ambiance.
