One of my favorite restaurants in Denver.
Their coconut rice is a must try. I frequently dream about it.

Okay decided I want some snacks/small plates and a drink and went to Senor Bear on a whim not knowing anything about the background or what type of place it was and while I’m not disappointed I can’t say it’s 5 stars. I’d give it a 4.3 or a 4.5 overall.

I had the rice nigiri which was pretty solid, for 9$ you get 2 pieces but for nigiri I was expecting more..: nigiri and less fried rice. The rice was fried and good, but took away from what could have been a good combination of complex flavors. Then I got the papaya and that was a good blend of sweet with a SLIGHT hint of spice at the end that stays on your tongue. I’ll say the food was good but not sure if I found it worth it the price point.

Had to get a digestivo so I got the Mini Negroni and well…. If you like mezcal and you like Negroni you’ll like this. No complaints it was exactly what I expected.

Overall, this is a nice date spot or a special occasion place when it’s not happy hour. When it’s not happy hour I’m not sure I’d casually walk in but happy hour has much more reasonable prices. Overall this is a solid place, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed but I’m not sure I can say I’d give it 5 stars for the price I paid. It is cool they include 20% on every bill too make sure the staff gets paid so can’t be mad about it that. Overall good spot but not somewhere I’d go casually unless it’s happy hour

Food was fab. The braised lamb and pork chop dishes with the coconut rice side were just absolutely wonderful with their tastes, flavor, heat, spice, and overall combination. It was what my mouth needed. I can only imagine what the rest of the menu tastes like as well as their brunch menu. Would return on the food, location, and ambiance alone.

The automatic 20% surcharge for equitable pay for the entire staff, which is disclosed in accordance with the law, is a bit steep but understand why it is in place all things considered in Denver. However, at the end of the meal when all is tallied, it and the expectation to include a front of the house tip on top of the surcharge puts a damper on things a bit when signing off on the final bill. To me, it does not take away from the food or experience, but folks should be aware of the financial implications at hand.

Came when they opened at 3pm on a Sat. Didn't realize they only serve happy hour food and full bar from 3 to 5pm. Will have try again for their dinner at 5pm. Happy hour food was tasty and service was great.

20% service fee tacked on to the bill at the end? Raise your prices, cut the owners revenue take or go out of business but that's shady to do that.

Very greatful for Virginia thinking outside the box, first my family had a show to catch and our daughter decided to join us for dinner. Virginia hear us and made it happen! Excellent Customer service, best Peruvian food in the Denver Metro area, kid friendly for early family dinner and a show night. Will definitely be coming back and will make sure to look ahead with a better reservation. Cheers Senor Bear.

We were looking forward to returning to Señor Bear for a long time and unfortunately the return didn't live up to the memory. Ambiance and service were still great but the food fell flat.

Checked out Senor Bear for our anniversary dinner, found through the inKind network of restaurants. Highly recommend, amazing service and delicious food.

I want to be mad at Señor Bear for the $27 single tamal I ordered and devoured there but if I'm honest it was impeccable. Great Paloma, great happy hour. Less great? The predatory business practices of the owner/culinary group taking advantage of their workers.

First, I've been here many times before and will leave my old review at the bottom. But given last night's experience, I felt i should update.

We were seated quickly for our reservation by the host. She filled us up on water and then we sat for 15 minutes for the server. There was a woman and a man who helped throughout the night, he was great. She was disinterested. At first we thought they may be low on staff, but it was pretty slow as far as patrons anyway. The empanadas were great. Caesar salad was good. Pork chop came out cold and was honestly bad. I enjoyed the Peruvian nigiri but as far as crispy rice goes, it was unique. Not crispy, by any means, but like a puff. Again, I liked it, but not crispy rice. The tuna tataki was different too. I would say solid, not good/great. My wife is the cook, she said it did not mesh at all. Either way, different strokes as they say. But the pork chop was truly terrible. Ive been here at least half a dozen times that I was stunned how bad it was. it was so cold and flavorless. We just got it to go and will do our thing at home to make it tolerable. The male server did offer to comp the pork chop but I always feel weird accepting this. Id rather just get the food when its ready and it be decent than spend an extra 40 minutes waiting around for things on a slow night. All in all, a hit or miss night, but heavy on the miss.

I love the menu, and I love the food. Every time I go back, I miss something I had last time, and then they have some new thing I fall in love with. Cannot say enough about this place and how great it is.

So first time being here. Its cute but was super smokey so was sitting inside in a tight space but we moved to outside. Outside was good and was warm at one point (probably need to get more heaters as winter approaches)! Ordered the bread which was horrible 4/10, friend ordered the jersey chicken and wasnt a fan they did recommend sharing plates. It tasted like chicken not jerk so 6/10. Coconut rice which wasnt done all the way 7/10 and I ordered the special steak w fries and salad which was the star food and was a solid 8.9/10. The cocktails were fantastic recommend the the jabroni! Usually take pictures but talked a lot!
