Had reservations and were seated immediately. Feels like an old pub in England sort of. Has a coastal sea vibe. Very cozy feeling. Took awhile to get a waiter, and he was a little slow in general, however he was extremely friendly and had great suggestions and had been working there for 64 years. The brown palace in general has a more laid back feel with service and mostly it’s just me who probably was impatient instead of enjoying the moment. It was overall a wonderful experience. Martini is a heavy poor, have some beers on tap, duck fries were fire!!! Fish was fresh. Oysters were delightful and worth the price, and the flat iron was cooked perfectly. It felt like a clean place. And the food was dressed up for a pub like atmosphere. Perfect ambience for me. Doesn’t feel fancy but produces quality items. Overall a little pricey. However seafood in Denver is difficult to get and to cook right. We will be back for sure!

Absolutely love this place. The food, ambiance and staff were incredible! The fish and chips was the best I have ever had. I think because they use haddock it makes it even better!
Bummed I didn't get more pictures of the food or restaurant.

Though appreciated the service, we found ourselves wondering when our orders would be taken and food/drinks provided. Though the food was great, it was small portioned and overpriced for the size, atmosphere and service.

We ate there on a Sunday for lunch, I ordered the prime rib French dip. I was disappointed the meat was dry and tasteless.

Our waitress was very personable. Had a bit of delay getting drinks and water although it wasn't crowded. The wine list is limited, vin ordinare for the most part and overpriced. The menu was a bit limited and the food was heavy on margin-boosting bread. Prices are very high for what you actually get. And what you do get is a charming pub-like atmosphere in an historic part of Denver.

The Old Fashioned and duck fat fries were fantastic. However, the Green Goddess Salad and crab cakes were uninspired at best. The salad showed up with about five-six butter lettuce leaves uncut with the marinated cucumbers and avocado just kind of slopped on there. There was supposed to be pistachios but I feel like that was only one - maybe two. The crab cake was good sized but was bland and a bit mushy. There's a certain expectation of quality when dining at The Brown Palace and sad to say those expectations where not met.

We did not have a good experience at the Ship's Tavern. Service was slow, even though there were many open tables. Our food was marginal at best, and we probably had the most pathetic salads ever — a few dry lettuce leaves with pickles on top! Salads were the only vegetarian thing on the menu and usually this works well for the vegetarians in our family. Not this time as the salad was bland and bare, and completely ridiculous for the price. Our lunch was surprisingly expensive for what we had. Very disappointing for the Brown Palace.

We had the Lobster roll with butter came out wrong, they pleasantly took it back but when they returned the plate the fries were cold they should have given fresh fries. We also both had tummy aches believe it was the lobster assume not fresh or stored properly. Otherwise service was good but a high end restaurant should have made sure everything was correct.

We were staying at the Brown Palace hotel, so decided to grab a quick bite at their in house bar/restaurant. It was busy and there seemed to be lots of servers stopping by the tables to pour water and take orders, but we found that we often had to ask for a refill of water, or flag someone down so we could order, or to pay. Fries were served cold, we had to send them back. The food was mediocre, and the table service was even less- the bar staff were good. It seemed expensive for what we got.
There was a live jazz bank in the bar which was enjoyable

Step across the street to savinas mexican for great food and great service.

I have for years gone to the Ships Tavern for my birthday. The last few years have been disappointing. This year, 01/12/2026 was very disappointing. I ordered a Slice Rost Beef au ju sandwich and it was way over done. The kitchen cut the slices from outer edge of the cooked beef and it parts of it were crusty black. very dissaponting. I would have sent it back but I was terribly hungry. On the positive side , the New England Clam Chowder was excellent. The waiter service was very good . I had odered what I thought was classic irish coffee. The waiter didn't really know how it was made. I assumed that he and bartender knew. as I remembe it is coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey with some wipped creme on top. I got a cup of coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey. I was able to get the attention of the receptionist and she hunted down some creme for my coffee. Overal it was a disappointment and I'll prpbably go somewhere else next year.

The Brown palace and Ship Tavern are showing their age. It is Not being well maintained. The food was not at all good. Greasy and deep fried cod for fish and chips that seemed as if it were frozen and not fresh. My friend had ravioli and another had French onion soup. No one was impressed. Over $50 per person. Classic tavern looks like it has but dirty. Woodwork needs attention. Same impression about the lobby of the Brown. Dingy carpet. Inoperative escalators. But maybe the ghosts don't like to be disturbed.

My friends and I visited after attending the Candlelight event at Trinity United Methodist Church. We had a dinner reservation and arrived a bit early, which led to a few interactions with the hostess. While I remained friendly and kind, her brief responses and tone came across as dismissive, creating an unwelcoming impression.

We were seated approximately 15 minutes past our reservation time and then waited an additional 10–15 minutes before being asked for our drink orders. After ordering an appetizer, we were informed about 10 minutes later that it was unavailable. I reached for the menu to select an alternative, as we were hungry, but when I turned back, our server had already left.

The food itself was underwhelming. When ordering the prime rib, I expected it to be served with horseradish; instead, I was given a very small portion of a mild cream horseradish. Overall, the quality of both the food and service did not align with the price point. That said, the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant.

Took 10 mins to get greeted by the host even with a reservation. Took FOREVER to get our first round of drinks - small portions lots of ice. COLD FOOD. Saw the server 4 times during our 2.5 hour long dinner (not by choice, but because of the snail pace) Ordered 5 entrees and drinks - the bill was $400. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Also freezing inside restaurant.
