It's kind of a fun little surprise as to what you get, how long you wait, whether or not you can hear your order number when called, and whether your order is accurate.
The expo cooks putting the bags together look like they lost their soul eons ago, no emotion, deadpan expressions, and a hint above a whisper when they say something that vaguely represents your order number.
If you're lucky enough to hear the call, then you may or may not get what you asked for.
You might get a chicken sandwich.
You might get a build your own burger.
You might get extra fries.
Who knows! Proceed with caution, and expect at least 30 minutes from order to food in hand.
Even dining in is a crapshoot. You might get service, you might not!
Good luck! May the smash gods smile upon you.

I can only give this one star because of the experience I had. I walked right up and ordered on the kiosk without waiting in line, then waited nearly 10 minutes staring at a stack of single classic burgers and fries sitting on the hot plate while individuals who ordered the exact same thing got their order before me. I politely asked if my ticket number was still hanging because I hadn’t been served yet and was rudely told “I have the number I will call it when it’s ready.” I waited again. While waiting one of the other customers asked for new fries stating the ones they were just served were cold. The lady bagging orders took the rejected fries which had been eaten from and then gave her new ones to try. The customer said the same: those fries were also cold and politely asked if she could wait for fresh ones. The employee bagging orders then took both of the fries which the customer had been eating out of and put them back onto the hot plate to serve again. Food handling 101. Wouldn’t recommend stopping here if you think you’ll get quick and clean service.

Traveling through Denver International Airport can be hectic, but my recent stop at Smashburger at DIA was an absolute highlight of my trip. Not because of the location or the convenience (although those are great), but because of Carlos – hands down the best server and bartender I have ever had the pleasure of being helped by.
From the moment I sat down, Carlos radiated the kind of energy you don’t often find at an airport restaurant. He welcomed every single guest with a genuine smile, sharp attentiveness, and a professional confidence that made the entire atmosphere better. Airports are usually places where people are rushed, stressed, and exhausted, yet Carlos has this uncanny ability to turn that around. He greets you like a friend, remembers small details, and provides the kind of service that makes you feel like you’re in a high-end restaurant instead of just grabbing food between flights.
What impressed me most was how well he managed the balance of being quick and efficient while never making anyone feel rushed. He had the bar packed with travelers ordering food and drinks, and yet every single person seemed to get the same level of attention and care. That’s a rare gift. His multitasking was on another level – mixing drinks, handling food orders, chatting with guests, and still somehow making each of us feel like we were his top priority.
On top of that, the food was fantastic. Smashburger’s signature burgers were cooked perfectly, hot and fresh even during the busy lunch rush. The fries were crispy, the portions generous, and the drinks well-crafted. But honestly, the food could have been average, and I’d still be giving this place five stars because of Carlos. He elevated the whole experience. When a server takes pride in their work and genuinely enjoys connecting with people, it changes everything.
I’ve traveled through dozens of airports and eaten at countless restaurants and bars along the way, but I can honestly say that Carlos is the best server/bartender I’ve ever witnessed. He embodies hospitality. You can tell he loves what he does, and he makes people feel welcome during what is often the most stressful part of travel. That kind of energy is contagious – you see it ripple out across the bar, with strangers striking up conversations and the whole vibe shifting to something positive and enjoyable.
If DIA management ever wonders why people keep coming back to Smashburger instead of the dozens of other food options in the terminal, the answer is simple: it’s Carlos. Employees like him are priceless. He is the definition of going above and beyond, and he turned what could have been a forgettable airport meal into one of the most memorable parts of my trip.
Next time I’m flying through Denver, I won’t even look at the other dining options – I’ll head straight to Smashburger to see if Carlos is working. If you’re lucky enough to get him as your server or bartender, you’re in for an amazing experience.
Five stars all the way – for the food, the atmosphere, and especially for Carlos.

What a disappointment to the fullest extent. Burger was rock hard and given a bag of wet vegetables to construct my own burger 😂 why the hell would I want to pay 15$ for a trashy burger that I have to put together myself!!! What a joke! The bag of vegetables leaked all over my bag an my clothes and now I get to spend the rest of my day smelling like fresh wet onion! I will never go back and I strongly recommend NOT EATING here.
Slow service and a rude waitress. She never checked on us during the meal and I had to get her attention for silverware, condiments and napkins. The restaurant was allegedly out of coffee cups, creamer and sugar. Mimosas were also over-priced.

Definitely don’t understand the hype about this place. Our service was mediocre as we asked for coke to drink and were given cherry coke, asked for a replacement of regular coke and was given flat coke. Waited several minutes for our server to come back by and I let her know the regular coke was flat and she said with a snarky attitude that “it was bottled” so I told her okay but it’s flat so I asked for regular Dr Pepper instead since that’s the only alternative. We were given cherry Dr Pepper. We finally got our food and I feel like I could’ve made a better burger myself so needless to say, we will not be stopping by this location again unless they get their act together.

Our bank statement showed that we were charged twice for a meal in late November. Repeated communication with Smashburger has been to no avail. They only advised to file a dispute with our bank. Very poor customer service. Buyer beware.
Short connection between flights - I asked about approximate wait time before ordering because my flight was going to be boarding my connecting flight in 20 minutes. was told 8-9 min, so I ordered. Waited and waited right near the pick-up counter. Numbers before mine were called, and then started calling numbers after mine. Thought maybe it was taking longer because I ordered chicken. Finally asked after the numbers called were 10 higher than mine and the guy tried saying the someone else must have taken my order. He never called the number; I was standing near the counter and intently listening, My number was NEVER called Blaming another customer for taking the order, was either a lie, or he only called out one number when he placed it on the counter and the customer with that number took both. Either way - he should have acknowledged responsibility for it, and not blamed it on someone else. Told me they get the order out in 2 minutes and then disappeared. . 5 min later, still no food. Asked again and was told ‘2 min’. At this point, I asked if it was REALLY 2 min, and you could tell by the expression on the cooks face that it was not, and my plane was now boarding and I could no longer wait. The very nice cashier tried to offer me a burger (don’t eat beef) or a pastry. Offered a refund and he processed that quickly, but am now without food for my flight. Complete lack of accountability, with the exception of the cashier that jumped to try to provide some sort of assistance.
