Stopped by after a show at the Newman Center and had a great time. Service was excellent, food was delicious and it was quiet enough to talk and catch up but also relaxed and comfortable. Great end to the night.

This is the only neighborhood joint that still feels like Denver in the area. Always have a good time and the staff are truly a delight.

I read about this place as being good for a drink/meal; before concerts at the nearby concert hall. I walked in, way too much smoke. The crowd was rowdy. I left very quickly. Found a better option around the corner.

The staff is always great. The food most of the time tastes really good and gets to us quickly. The margaritas are terrible. They use some sort f mix that does not taste good nor has much tequila. I can easily find another place with similar priced drinks which taste better.

Perfect place for decently priced beer and tacos. I haven’t had tacos this good since I moved here, I was pretty impressed. I ordered the mahi tacos and the sofritas veggie tacos! The sofritas were better than chipotle. The bar is cute - plenty of places to sit and a few pool tables. Service was fine.

A fun place. I mean, the ambience is primitive, but that doesn't bother me in the least. It adds to the charm. It's Mexican bar food but with a bit more attention paid than just throwing some chips and salsa in a pile. The sauces seem homemade, the tortillas have a nice fresh texture and the meat is properly cooked and well seasoned. Look at the drizzle of crema in some other pics! Props for using crema. Don't use a 13 year old reviews of the fish tacos. One last thing--are the staff young party people? Maybe! But I am here to party so that's not a problem at all. Enjoy the funky vibe and the well made food and have a tequila for me.

They do not upkeep their pool tables..college kids spill drinks all over them..only one bar tender gets a 5 star review from me. (Emma G)

I ordered my drink 4 times from 3 different bartenders. I wasn't in a hurry and understood but felt a little bit less than welcome. It is a game night and I was in the restaurant 1.5 hours before puck drop. I will try again because the staff seemed genuinely apologetic for their lack of attention.

Cool neighborhood bar in the DU area. Nice dark lower level bar, open air roof patio, and tons of lower level patio space. The staff are very cool and friendly. Check it Out!

We revisited the Pioneer Bar this week, and were really impressed with improvements in food, service, and comfort since our last visit. We arrived before a performance at the neighboring Newman Center and the indoor seating was full. But they've really upgraded the outside area, with a weatherproof enclosure, and we were plenty warm and comfortable on a cool fall evening. We had the chiles rellenos and a carnitas burrito. Both were excellent--the chilis were cooked perfectly and the carnitas were really tasty. We felt that the food was definitely improved compared to last year. Great choice in the DU area.
