I was very excited about coming here but unfortunately was left feeling disappointed. We had ordered our food and I’m not sure if I was sitting out too long but when we got the food it was lukewarm. The fries were the only thing that were hot but my steak was hardly warm and my partners pasta wasn’t hot like it should be. We let them know and they did take it back but just cooked my steak more and wasn’t a medium anymore but was more so well done. When going to a nicer restaurant I expect my food to come out hot. Unfortunately won’t be back.

OMG, we absolute loved this place. Went in for happy hour. The selection of food and beverage was great, way above most restaurant offerings for both. The Slap Burger, Hot Chicken and Ricotta offerings were top notch and the house wine and sparkling were great. Service was friendly and it was such a fun and relaxing place to spend the evening.

We will be back often. Great to support this neighborhood restaurant and bar.

Came from out of town and my husband booked our reservation here. Such a cute restaurant with a great menu. It is served more family style so for us I love lamb but my husband doesn’t so I couldn’t eat 24 oz by myself so I ended up not getting it because of the portion. I had the ribs with grits and greens and it was amazing. My husband has the shrimp and gnocchi. Our server was Allan and he was great. Definitely recommend if you’re out of town.

Highly recommended. A nice atmosphere with tremendous food and a great wine list. We had the baby back ribs and the parpadelle along with a red flight that included a few nice wines including a Chilean from Colchagua and an Italian Rosso. The Ube brulee was an unexpected take on this classic dessert. Terrific dining experience.

Nice but pretty expensive. We went with the table servings that we shared between our group of 6. This was nice because several of our party were light eaters. Two table size entrees and two side portions could be shared between 3-4 people. Food was delicious. I missed taking photo of the cornbread, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes….sorry. Standard mixed drink prices were fine, specialty drinks could cost twice the standard drinks. Still a nice place for a special occasion.

Food was good, very pricey, my wife and I shared an entre and it was still over $100 per person. Service was terrible. Everything took forever and forgot several items.

The cocktails were good, and the chicken lollipops and cornbread were excellent. The Shrimp & Gnocchi dish was borderline ineddible. Small for a main course, salty, and the shrimp were not fresh and had terrible taste. Yuck.

Birthdays are wonderful, especially the one I just or perhaps am still celebrating. Came here to
discover a new spot before the rest of the celebration continued.

I suggest reservations since it’s popular being so central to Ball Arena (Tate McRae concert that night), ball games and just typical downtown events and busyness. Parking is street but we snagged a spot close by.

While we read it is a great date spot, I disagree for first dates. Quite loud, not an intimate setting and would make for awkwardness. The place is nicely decorated with purple lit wine racks and green velvet benches. But it’s lacking a certain sexy vibe to showcase the creativity of the chef and excellent staff.

Thoughtful in having a birthday note at our table to greet us, staff is quick and friendly always ready to make sure your needs are attended to immediately. Reanna was sweet, attentive and knowledgeable. Her suggestions were on point since it suited our taste style.

Cocktails are wonderful with the Death by Daiquiri being a favorite. It’s light and refreshing contrasted against its sister the Jungle Bird, a warmer sexy cocktail. The wine selection is a great variety to choose from and couldn’t resist the French rose and Spanish cava.

One of the most gluten free option menus for downtown and a welcome surprise. We decided against the shareable entrees but highly suggest the rack of lamb. That looks so scrumptious. We opted for several plates to share like the salmon crudo. Ooeemmggee what a creative and yummy dish. It was a gorgeous presentation. The cold blueberry granita looked like caviar but marrying it with the creme fraiche and jalapeño was perfection. Light refreshing and incredibly chef genius. The meatballs, gluten free surprisingly, was great with the sourdough focaccia. The marrow butter is THE most mouth watering oozy goodness you could devour.

Personally I am a big fan of birthday candles and birthday sparkles on my birthday dessert. But sadly my ube brulee came out naked with only pistachio crumbs to meet me. It’s such a unique taste and quite rich without being overfilling. The pistachios add that extra for the dish.

Overall I think you should stop in and have the items and graze a bit. I think when you love yourself a little extra, it’s about to get magical. Thank you for spending the evening feeding me Velvet Cellar.

We enjoyed a nice meal at the velvet seller.
Great vibe, good service and good food however, I would suggest that while the servings looked good in terms of presentation, they should be adding a little bit more of the accompaniments.

The Portion sizes are quite small (I’m not suggesting Cheese Cake factory size potions) but the blackened salmon was about 4-6 oz and was good It was but it left me feeling hungry in spite of the fact that I had an appetizer.

The cost of adding a half cup of couscous should be a no-brainer. Hopefully the restaurant considers this because I believe it would be a good investment for the future of their business.

Spent HH here, and I really liked the burger. However they claim it’s a 1/4 pound, and zero chance it’s actually that big. Well seasoned, well cooked, but it’s a slider. Just be honest about the size.

Pimento dip was also flavorful, but too thin and runny. It wouldn’t stick to the pita and veg and kept running off. They’re close to perfecting it, but not there yet.

Also had the Buffalo Cauliflower and it was very good. Often the cauliflower comes out too mushy, but not here. Well cooked. Might offer something other than a standard ranch dip, but otherwise it was a thumbs up.

Some work to do on service. Clearly people were being trained while we were there, which is fine. It has to happen. But it did mean that occasionally we were forgotten about.

Good bones in place for a very good place to go. Looking forward to going back in a month to see the evolution.

This was one of the most subpar food experiences I have ever had in Denver. I booked a reservation for a party of 10 to take my visiting family out the night before my baby shower and we all left so underwhelmed, especially when you conider the price points. We ordered a wide variety of meals from vegeterian to fish to meat and we were all begging for some level of seasoning and flavor. Although nothing was inedible per say it was all just very bland and such a disappointment. Even my mother who ordered the miso salmon requested salt. All the meat was over cooked yet somehow managed to be served with cold borderline raw vegetables. The mashed potatoes were gritty and did not taste of truffle at all. The mac and cheese had no flavor. Every single person at the table agreed that their meal was disappointing and lacked even basic seasoning and flavor. When we let the server know that the meal was very disappointing she apologized and advised that the chef cooking did not create the menu and they would be revamping the menu with this new chef. However even a basic chef should still be able to cook a steak to temp and season food. Overall I left feeling embarrassed that I brought my family to Velvet Cellar. We spent nearly a $1000 for one of the most bland plain meals of our lives.
