Service was really great. Coffee was topped off consistently and everyone was very friendly. The food was okay. I got the salmon Benedict. Honestly a one and done only because I've had better but if they added some avocado, it would elevate that one.

The Mrs. got the huevos ranchero and again, nothing to write home about but still great for some regular brunch.

The drinks were great and the coffee was good, and service on point! so that helps cover the food side. Definitely saving to give another shot and try their other menus.

Enjoy!

My fave spot in my new fave town! I love the vibe of Durango and I also love the food and drinks in El Moro!

We sat at the bar and got to chat with the staff who made me laugh the entire time. The scotch egg is so yummy and its actually super filling. I got the cold brew iced mocha to drink and it was so good that I actually ordered it twice. My boyfriend got the liquid IV to drink and it came in this cool plastic bag!

I 100% am determined to come back to Durango just so I can eat and drink at El Moro!

Being that I am a local I try and keep any negative reviews at bay. However, sometimes constructive criticism is necessary. The restaurants ambiance is top notch. I also love the appetizers and cocktails! However, lately the main dishes have been sub par. I ordered the salmon cooked through and received it medium rare. The risotto was bland as well. The prices have gone up and the food remains lackluster. Positive ending was the ok free dessert I received; only after I asked for it to be comped. Great for drinks and apps, main dishes not so much.

My wife had wanted to come in and eat for quite awhile but it was never opened at lunch time while we were in town.
So we got there for dinner and each had a cocktail. I had the artichoke soup to start an a Caesar salad with chicken for my entree. She had the beet salad with salmon. The soup was alright. A bit salty for me ( and I like salt.) I was very thick and truly I did not taste artichoke at all.
My wife’s salad was fine, she enjoyed it. She had asked for the salmon to be medium and it was pretty well done.
My Caesar was not good. There was a few full leaves of Romain hearts and they were completely swimming in dressing. The chicken was dry and all in all I would say it was the most unsatisfying Caesar I’ve ever had.
I sent it back
The server was pretty surly about the whole thing. I told him to give me a beet salad instead, after about 15 minutes the second salad came and by that time my wife had eaten.
I took the salad to go. We don’t need to come back to El Moro again. It was pretty bad, and for $100.00 you would think a bit more. The surly waiter definitely iced the cake!

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s been really disappointing to see the service get so bad especially this last visit and over the last year. It’s a joke. The food has declined as well. The cocktails are still amazing and the only reason for 3 stars.

Oh, **darlings**, gather 'round as I regale you with tales of a truly *exquisite* evening spent at a veritable gem in the rough-hewn wilderness of Durango, Colorado: the divine El Morro! We happened upon this oasis of sophistication, perched ourselves at the bar—because, as one does, *one must*—and were immediately greeted by the dynamic duo of **Happy and James**. Their names, of course, could not be more fitting, as they delivered *utter joy* with every swish of their cocktail shakers and swirl of their bar towels.
Now, allow me to paint you a picture of their libations. I, being a woman of refined taste, indulged in the *Welcome to the Jungle*, a cocktail so enchanting, so *delectable*, I could hear the distant roar of untamed wilderness as I sipped. Adam, ever the beer connoisseur, went for the *Mexican Lager*—which, though perhaps a humble choice, was perfectly befitting his rugged charm. Ah, but we’ve already set our sights on the next visit, where the *Coffin Varnish* shall be ours to try. A name like that promises nothing short of dramatic, gothic indulgence.
The atmosphere? A delightful *carnival of fun*—oh, such zest and vivacity. And the food! We indulged in the **Burrata**, a dish so intricate and well-executed that one might call it a culinary work of art. Fresh, bold, and simply *divine*.
Rest assured, we shall return, for this is no ordinary haunt—oh no, this is an *experience*. Thank you, El Morro, for an unforgettable evening. We shall be back!

Excellent! Luke was our server and he was great! My husband had the NY strip and I had the build your own charcuterie board (with Luke’s help). The food was delicious! The drinks were great! I had the “Welcome to the Jungle” and it was great!
Highly recommend!❤️

We just ate dinner at El Moro Spirits and Tavern. My husband had the Lamb Burger which he raved about, before, during and after he ate it! I had the Lemon Orzo with chicken. It was so flavorful and a great blend of flavors. I'm bummed that I forgot to get pictures, but both of our Entrees were amazing, so we bought the kitchen staff a round of drinks! Our waitress was Ky who was absolutely delightful and super helpful! Her sister was on the bar tonight and made me "The Alchemist" which was incredibly tasty and the right touch with my meal. We will gladly go back when visiting Durango as it is a gem! Thank you!

I had an experience with a server who repeatedly stated, 'we usually don't do separate checks,' three times during the payment transaction. After explaining that our company typically requests separate checks for each credit card charge, she curtly responded with, 'I don't make the rules.' These unnecessary comments were made while she was simply doing her job. The interaction lacked flexibility and understanding of customer service. In the end, she did what we asked for, but her approach could have been much more customer-friendly.

On September 14, 2024, our credit card was charged $256 instead of $69! Note: Check the bill three times in this restaurant!!

A couple issues with the 2 server concept.

First was the lack of communication between the two, as both were busy so they didn't keep up with eachother on what was going on at our table.

Also, the tip situation. We wanted to tip the appetizer and drink guy well as he did his job, but the food server ignored us and did not check up on us and seemed bothered by questions, do you over tip a bad server or undertip one that does their job?

Finally, the food was bland, the appetizers were delicious but the entrees suffered. After waiting 45 minutes between appetizer and meal, my burger was closer to room temp than right off the burner.

All around disappointed

I had the salmon, hubby had the crying tiger. Fantastic. Nuanced, delicious, and just the right portion size. Attentive, joyful service. Great vibe.
