This was our first time at this restaurant. We are regular visitors to mexican restaurants and you can usually go with a basic expectation of the menu.
We were a party of 4 and we were visiting at an off peak time so we were only 4 of about 8 ppl in the building when we arrived.
1 basic of chips and 1 salsa was brought to the table so we immediately asked for more so all of our group could have their own salsa. The salsa was really spicy but that was the only one they had.
2 of us ordered the street tacos and those had reasonable flavor. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and the other person in our group ordered a steak dish as well. No flavor at all. It’s like they forgot to put any seasoning in the food.
When the waitress came to ask how everything was my husband told her it was bland and not very good. There was no “I’m sorry” or offer to try something else. Just an acknowledgment of our opinion and off she went.
When the check came we were surprised to see we had been charged extra for the additional salsas and basket of chips. When we pointed out that it would have been nice to be told that, it was “it’s on the menu, you should have read it.”
I hope this was an off day for them, but we would not return if we visit this area again.

Went here with my family, and the food we ordered ? was really good, The kids ordered from the kid's menu they loved it. I went for the carne asada plate, the meat was good and tender, and our waitress was attentive and on to our service. Great please will come back to try something different.

Me and the wife enjoyed a very good meal here and drinks best Mexican food I have eaten. My wife loved the peach margaritas .
I know this review is a long time in the making. I went back at the tail end of 2020. Covington restriction were still in place. I was served by what seem to be the owner. There was only 3 people working. I come from San Antonio have been to a lot of tex-mex and mexican food restaurants. I do have to say the food here was exceptional as well as the service. Everything was made fresh. The only downside which is a preference thing was no sweet tea. Lol.

Average Mexican food quality. Salsa was good but not a ton of flavor in the beans. The potatoes were tasty as a side instead of rice. Service was attentive, but we were the only table for a Sunday at 5/6pm. There were also a ton of flying insects at the table, but the open window was wonderful this time of year. Margarita was good. If you can’t get a table anywhere else, this is a good plan B.

After a horrible experience at a better know restaurant down the street, we decided to drop into Mi Ranchito, and give them a chance.
What a contrast from the previous restaurant we tried to eat at! Mi Ranchito is a "family owner and operated" little Mexican restaurant.
The food was tasty, they were accommodating to my needs (vegetarian) and so warm and friendly!
It was a wonderful experience!
The food was tasty, definitely spicy, filling and of good quality and presentation.
I would definitely recommend this little restaurant adjacent to the Durango Silverton RR in Durango.
A real little pleasant surprise!
Vegetarian options: They were willing to accommodate my vegetarian needs. Every one was so kind.

Edit in response to the owner:
My husband only ate because he was hungry, not because the food was good, he actually didn’t even finish the food either, when he usually does. ALSO I was perfectly nice to the server as one should be, my “attitude” was only in response to hers, and we still tipped. Anyway, hope you guys get the business you deserve! xo
GO TO TEQUILAS TO GET GOOD FOOD AND BIGGER PORTIONS FOR YOUR $$. You ever eat somewhere and then immediately regret wasting your money and time on it? That’s how I felt eating here. They are only in business because they’re right by where the hungry tourists come off the train. The food was actually insulting how bad it was. $10 for one taco, a hard shell taco you would buy at the grocery store, and a weak side of rice and beans. The waitress asked me what meat I wanted in my taco, I told her to give me whichever her favorite was and she said “all of them”….. yeah ok so clearly she doesn’t eat here either. I took one bite of the taco and gave it to someone else, it was just bad, I only had the rice on my plate. Then my husband ordered some taco fries, there was a literal avocado peel in it, the fries looked like they went across the street to McDonald’s and then covered it in their soggy gross beef. Our friend ordered the taco salad, it was watery, it didn’t look appealing at all. Apparently the margaritas are good, that’s the only positive we got out of the experience. Overall not worth the time or money and I’m disappointed in my wasted dinner.

This place was just fine! The food was very average for a Mexican restaurant. Glad I got to try it, but wasn't anything to rave about. Wish it was a little spicy, but I get most people that visit Durango may not do spicy. Service was good and quick however!
