I have thought about this place for 2 years. We visited Durango in 2022. We stayed in an Airbnb just past this place. We were hungry and this was our only choice without going all the way back to Durango. I wish I could open up a place like this near where I live. Great slider's and atmosphere. It was like camping out with the fire pits and corn hole going on. It seemed like a lot of locals were here. My mouth waters just thinking of those sliders.

This is a great little dive bar just 2 minutes from purgatory. They have a good selection of beer. For food they have Backcountry gourmet food truck. Now these guys have like three of these food trucks up here in The Durango area. They make really good sliders and french fries. Not a huge selection but what they do offer is done very well. Great atmosphere and they have live music occasionally. Definitely a great option if you don't want pizza from the old school house and you are staying at purg.
Parking: They have parking but if they are packed and they are always packed after a day of skiing.you might have to park out on the street.

Before The Nugget opened, there were not many food/bar options available up north of Durango, now locals and visitors can enjoy beautiful views, friendly service, and a small taste of Durango. The owner takes pride in his establishment, and it shows! Eat and hang out here, you wont be disappointed!

Fantastic little bar with patio and fire pits. Outdoorsy type locals and travelers stop in for some great food and drinks. Next to a popular ski resort so in winter you get an off the slopes crowd.

I wanted to review The Nugget immediately after we left but we lost reception, and ever since I had a thought at back of my mind that I had to review it for how great and unexpected for that location it was. This was a year ago and I finally got down to it. This was the quirkiest place with incredible, gourmet food. When I am in the area again I will adjust my plans so that I can visit again

The food specially the crab cake slider and truffle fries were great. The atmosphere was really good gives the country feeling with chatty but not loud clientele. The only down side was the bartender on the night of August 9th 2024. We sat at the bar for a beer while waiting for our food. First, there were only 5 of us seating at the bar. She did not even acknowledge that we were alive much less a greeting. She was chatty with the other three but not a word to us. She served all three again while we sat and waited. Add insult to injury, a twenty something sat by us and immediately started a conversation with her that sounded flirtatious. Finally, she asked us for our order, two beers. The beer was really good.
A low-key bar we stopped at for a quick bite after exploring Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado. We ordered Bacon Cheese Burger Slider and Fillet Mignon Slider. It was so good, however my Spicy Cajun Fries were a little bit too salty for my palate. It appeared as if they were under staff on the day we're there. I know customers are expected to clean after themselves but we have to clean our tables and put away whatever previous customers left behind.
