Love Zia’s, and eat here at least once a week. One of the best bang-for-your-buck meals in Durango, the meals are filling and tasty.
That said, in terms of where Zia’s can improve: for vegetarians, Zia’s offers tofu as a protein. There have been several times where we come in and order the tofu, but they’ve run out of it. This used to happen when we’d come “late” (past 6:30pm), so we started going earlier, but yesterday I came in at 5:30pm and they had already run out and said it would be 30 mins to make more. They don’t run out of other proteins, and this happens often with the tofu; Zia’s should better plan for this and make a new batch when it’s starting to run low (obviously if they’re consistently running into this issue it’s in demand by customers).
Additionally, Zia’s portion sizes are inconsistent (for example sometimes we get just a small scoop of rice and have to ask and be charged for extra, sometimes we get a lot on the base), as is the cost; literally every week the cost charged is different (based on perceived extras/add ons, which are usually incorrect). For example, yesterday we didn’t even get a protein as they were out of tofu, but instead we were charged extra for sweet potatoes.

Two of three orders of wahoo tacos were burnt beyond edible. When brought to the staff’s attention, they redid the fish but didn’t remake the tacos. Very disappointing for a place we like to frequent.

You choose your burrito or daily special and sides as you go through a cafeteria-style line. Lots of choices, all good. Reasonably priced. Popular lunch place for nearby high school.
Great food at a reasonable price in Durango. There was a long line at rush hour when we got there, but the food lived up to its billing. Tasty, reasonable portions, fast and efficient service. No complaints.
Parking: Parking and entrance are behind the building, so it is a little tricky to find the place if coming from the main road.

In recent years Zia has lost all of the friendliness, for sure, but my biggest complaint is that they are ever so sure to make sure they charge you for anything extra, often overcharge and once even charged me for a whole thing of tamales I didn’t buy, but then they don’t bother to mark the burritos. So you get home and the only way to discern one order from another is to start biting into them one by one.
Original review: So very delicious and the folks behind the counter are always extremely nice. A popular spot around lunch time so be prepared for a bit of a wait but totally worth it. One regular sized burrito is usually too much even. Thanks Zia!

We had Zia's cater our small rehearsal dinner. Ordering was seamless and the food was a huge hit! We loved that they were able to set everything up and pick up their supplies later.
