Zia is cravable. Local Durango business, local ingredients, amazing catering, adult drinks, fast fresh a la carte. I usually get the wahoo fish tacos or sweet potato bowl, but everything is great! Most of the taquerias in Durango are amazing, but Zia is probably the most popular, and with 2 locations, that are the most accessible.

The two stars is for the clean tables, and tortilla chips. This review reflects the food quality zias has to choose from. It is entirely summed up as “meh”. Instant rice, flavorless refried beans, your basic items are disappointing. If you’re from any southern region of the US and come here for Mexican style food you will be disappointed. Especially for its price point. There are a lot of other local spots with better quality in the same price range to choose from. Don’t let the long lines fool you.

Zia's is a must! The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the potato bowl with grilled fish. ? My husband gets the Baja fish burrito every time. Every item I have tried is delicious.
Parking: Strip mall parking. Can get full.

Updated 2024: Zia's service has just completely dropped off the map, but the fact that they will put multiple burritos wrapped up in foil in a bag and expect their customers to just know which is which is the worst. I even asked them to mark them, they didn't, and when I asked which was which they pretended to know. This just ends up in people getting a burrito they didn't order. :(
Original review from 2019: Lunch counter style Mexican food, locally owned, beautiful selection and people working behind the counter. The Tinga chicken and pork options for burritos are killer, as is the jalapeño sour cream. Several beers, Mexican Coke and Zuberfizz, our local soda on the fountain.
It gets pretty busy at both locations, especially around noon, so be prepared for a wait but it usually goes through pretty quickly.

I’ve never been a huge fan of this place but never thought it was terrible, just usually egh, but it’s edible food. That was until last Thursday. Ordered a quesadilla with Sinaloa chicken. Honestly just tasted like nothing. The mango salsa tasted like fish, guacamole like holy guacamole. 2 hours after eating I was so sick, cramping cold sweats, you name it, I felt it! Classic food poisoning! Finally Sunday night I’m feeling normal! I’d starve before I ever eat here again!
Thank you Zia!! Our Aztec Soccer boys stopped for dinner after their games. You were so accommodating and made it a great dining experience. Our coaches were super appreciative.

I enjoy Zia, it's far superior to Moe's Southwest Grill.
Vegetarian options: I always get a bean and rice baby burrito.
