Ginger and Baker has a decent reputation in Fort Collins and has tasty food. However, I must admit that the service is not ideal.
When I came in last time, there were many tables open but the greeter lady told me to wait 15 minutes. I was confused and sat at one of the open tables while waiting, and she insisted that I wait at the bar or the door. How that made any difference, I do not understand.
Further, I was surprised to see "KIF" listed on the bill. I had never heard of this and had a difficult time trying to work it out. Apparently, the restaurant inserts a "kitchen investment fund" fee, like an extra tax on your meal. This is a low-class, sneaky way get a higher bill. I wish restaurants would just list their prices in a transparent manner, and this left a bad taste in my mouth.

I just had a black tea and an apple pie and sat at the bar. Not the restaurant.
I asked them to heat up the pie. Instead of a toaster oven of some sort, they heated using a microwave. The crust was damp and no longer flakey, and yet the center of the pie was still cold. The pie tasted fine, but nothing outstanding.
The service was strange. When I first walked in, I thought of eating a full meal at the restaurant (away from the bar). The host did not have the tea menu and insisted that the server will inform me of the teas they have. I knew ahead of time that their tea selection wasn't straightforward (e.g. different kinds of earl grey). I wanted to see their tea menu so that I can read the ingredients of the tea. Anyway, the restaurant part was packed, and hence, a bit noisy so I decided to just have a pie at the bar.
The service at the bar was not good. The tea was served with no spoon or offer of any of the standard condiments. Not even a napkin. I had to ask another customer to reach for the napkin box. Even though the bar attendees were standing around, they seemed to be engaged in their own conversations and didn't attend to anyone seated at the bar.
I don't think I will be returning.

The chicken pot pie was delicious and generously portioned - the room was a bit loud and echo-y so it was hard to have a conversation but it was cheerful

The chicken pot pie, purchased to-go, had good flavor but way too much crust & tough chicken. It was very dough-y. Not worth $20+. For under $5, the KFC pie is much better tasting with a flaky crust. Pics 1-3 G&B. Pics 3&4 KFC. There is no pic 6 of KFC because I ate it all :)

Dinner at the Cafe. Limited menu, nothing special about the entre or the accompanying salad. I will not go back.

Amazing food. The waiters are really good.
Bad experience with the hostesses for the past two times I went there.
One of my favorite places in FC if it wasn’t for this.

I was craving their banana cream pie, because it was the best banana pie I ever had! When I received my order, the pie looked different. Then I had a bite it was horrible!. It tasted like unsweetened whipping cream with random brown chunks of old bananas(not even properly cut),and kind of watery. I was sad. In about a year they went from the best banana cream pie I ever had to something beyond horrible. I did also order a passion cream pie, which was delicious, and that is why I gave them 2 stars.

I loved this this place, the food and drinks were amazing and it's a really cool space.
This morning I was the only one at the bar and waited about 15 minutes, and there were 6 people behind the bar but no one offered to serve me. Two groups came in and were immediately served. Really awful service. This was the second time this happened, and the first time a manager came over to me and apologized. They must have young unmotivated servers who really don’t care. I quietly got up and walked out and no one even noticed. That has never happened at the Silver Grill Café and several other breakfast/lunch places in old town Fort Collins. Sad to report this news.

Ginger and Baker is such a beautiful building and the atmosphere is great. Our waiter was so friendly. We were underwhelmed with the vegan options on the menu. I had been once in the past a year plus ago, and I had misremembered a vegan pancake option. They do offer vegan pie choices, but on our day there was just one (peanut butter pie). They also upcharge for milk alternatives, which I think should be an outdated practice. The pie was really good and their lattes were very tasty, but I think they could really elevate by flexing their menu choices to be more inclusive.

First time in the establishment, I thought what a Beautiful place. I love the deer salt and pepper shakers! The pies looked fantastic, so I bought a slice of the chocolate explosion! I was super excited to dig in but was caught off guard when I almost broke a tooth on a black bead..I spit it out thinking it was like chared piece of a pie..so I take the knife and the fork that the cashier gave me, and cut smaller pieces to avoid any other choking hazard...and unfortunately there was another small indestructible bead in the pie..For my first time buying a slice of pie from here I was disappointed due to the foreign object in the slice of pie.

I had high hopes for this upscale spot, but the experience didn’t quite match the price tag. The atmosphere was polished and comfortable, but the service moved slower than expected, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t packed. It took a while just to get water, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. Luckily, our server was friendly and welcoming, doing their best to make up for the delays.
The food was the highlight—well-prepared and full of flavor. Each dish was satisfying, and you could tell the kitchen knew what they were doing. But when it came to drinks, the Old Fashioned missed the mark. Instead of the elegant presentation I expected, it arrived with basic ice cubes better suited for a soda. For a place aiming for a high-end experience, that felt like a lazy detail.
Overall, I left with a full stomach but not a strong desire to come back. The meal was good, but for the price, I wanted something more polished—better pacing, more thoughtful drinks, and an experience that felt worth every dollar. It wasn’t bad, just not as impressive as I hoped.

We went for a private party. The building is beautiful, service top notch and the food was very good for banquet service.
