We ordered to go and it took a while for it to be made, one person working. Flavor was decent, chili rellano was the favorite. We ordered online, in the photos it shows two tacos for $6. Chose the two asada and two carnitas… We only received one of each. $6 seems high for a taco when they were smaller than other places we’ve been.
Tucked away in the heart of Fruita, CO. Desierto Rojo is a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Mexican flavors with a bold twist. On my recent visit, I dove into their Pastor Burrito and Quesabirria Tacos, and let me tell you – it was a game-changer.
The Pastor Burrito was an absolute beast: generously stuffed with marinated pork, rice, beans, and all the fixings, it was incredibly filling without feeling heavy. The flavors popped with just the right amount of spice, tangy pineapple notes, and a smoky edge that kept me coming back for bite after bite. But the real star? The Quesabirria Tacos. These beauties came loaded with tender, juicy birria meat and gooey melted cheese, grilled to perfection and served piping hot. Dipping them into the rich, savory birria gravy was pure bliss – savory, slightly spicy, and utterly addictive.
The food was so spot-on that we couldn't resist returning the very next day for seconds. Service was friendly and quick, portions were hearty, and prices felt like a steal for the quality. If you're in the mood for Mexican comfort food that hits all the right notes, Desierto Rojo won't disappoint. Five stars – I'll be back soon!

Really good food, reasonably priced, good atmosphere, short wait for the food, and friendly staff. I was highly impressed.
Went there with my family to have dinner last night. I was so impressed with the authentic tacos! Been years since I had some like that. Had the pork, chicken and pastor tacos. The pork and the chicken were my favorite! And the guacamole! Oh my gosh!!! Delicioso!!! The prices are super reasonable too so I think it'll be a frequent stop for us whenever we crave some delicious, authentic Mexican tacos. Dimitri, our cashier/server was great too! So glad to have a place like that in town!

Got the Asada's and they were delicious. The meat is well cooked and was perfectly chewy, the melt in your mouth kind. The price for food was pretty inexpensive and reasonably priced, which was super delightful. Definitely will go again
