The atmosphere from the minute you walk in to when you leave is such a fun and warming experience. The staff is so personable, fun, and in good spirits. Clean facility and do there best to get people seated immediately even when busy. And the food is the good ol' comforting diner food. Made an exquisite hot chocolate for my daughter. Highly recommend this place.

We've been here twice now. About 6 months ago and then today. Our first experience was great so we took our friends in our last visit to town. However this visit was pretty rough. Not sure if because we came for lunch last time and this was breakfast. Maybe it's because we went on Tuesday rather than on the weekend? I don't know what changed- but this visit was notably disappointing the whole way through.
Three of our 4 orders included breakfast potatoes which were all noticably undercooked. Also even though two of the orders were the same meal, the portions varied wildly from plate to plate. Even for orders that were the same plate had one plate with about half the potatoes as the others. It was like they decided what they undercooked was enough for the table - and the third plate served was just left with a short stick.
They had very slow beverage service, which wouldnt have bugged me so much if I was allowed to have my water bottle and leftover morning chai at the door or in the car. But with the very strictly enforcement of no outside beverages the policy we had no option it to just wait with empty water glasses and empty coffee cups. The policy is posted on the front door and blames health code for the policy, however Colorado state law doesn't carry this requirment, so it's an excuse to avoid arguments with customers.
I understand they believe allowing someone to bring in a nearly finish Togo coffee cup may infringe on their coffee sales. But for me it was their policy that did. As a result of being told to leave my drink at the door or outside, I choose not to order coffee. Walking in I had every intention of adding a coffee order to my breakfast as I hadn't had any yet that day. I like having multiple drinks to choose from. So as a result of this fake health code policy, I feel less included to order paid beverage and I find myself far more critical of the beverage sevice provided to the entire table, not just myself. Especially in the heat of summer. Had I had my own water to drink when my cup ran out, or a cold/luke warm left over chai to sip while we wanted between coffee refills we would not have noticed as much. But when you're nearly out of beverages at the table multiple times during your meal it's pretty hard to ignore, especially with drinking dying in your car.
My nearly untouched potatoes were cleared without asking if I was done and without asking if everything was ok with the order. This left me with the impression that they actually didn't care about out food experience or ensuring our meals were acceptable. My husband also didn't finish about half of his meal which is very out of character for him. We were just unimpressed with what we're were seeced and the service made the unpleasant experience that much more noticable.
Perhaps the difference in service could be attributed to our summer visit where as we usually visit in the winter and shoulder seasons. Perhaps the staff is over tourists/out of town visitor? Not certain but we didn't feel like your food was anything special to come back for and unfortunately the services didn't make up for it in any way.
I left two stars because we did like our first visit here enough to bring friends back. But after our last experience I highly doubt we'll be giving this place a third chance.

Everytime I am in Glenwood Springs 19th street diner is always the spot for breakfast before leaving town. Love the food, the service and atmosphere. They had a carnitas bowl that was slap yo momma good. Will return the next time I am in town.
