What a disappointment. We have been coming yo the Wondervu for 35 years and until Adeline sold (3-4 years ago?) we always had great good, great margueritas and always a good time. Tonights visit wad truly a travesty. For a mexican restaurant they are down to 4 entrees, none of what made them famous, you have to buy chips and salsa ( with about 10 chips per serving) the salsa was canned, my chile rellenos were straight out of a freezer section. We tried to laugh about it but its so hard to see a favorite crash and burn like this. We spent $82 and left hungry. literally got two “egg rolls” with a chili inside, and a few tiny enchiladas - the only thing fresh about them was the goat cheese garnish.

Service was mediocre at best. Saturday night at 7 Pm - 6 tables full. Need i day more? This has been one a neighborhood favorite for 35 years, had great hope for the new chef (who was awesome in January!) and We used to love going over, but we will not be back. So sad.

Amazing food, service and location! You MUST stop here. đŸ€©đŸ€©đŸ€©

Wondervu CafĂ© was an absolute gem of a pit stop during my ride. After climbing and coasting through miles of Colorado beauty, rolling into this cozy spot felt like striking gold. The staff welcomed me with genuine warmth—even in my sweat-soaked, road-weary state—and made me feel right at home.

The food? Comforting, hearty, and made with love. I refueled with a green chile-smothered dish that might just be the best thing I’ve tasted mid-ride. Ice-cold drinks, a sunny patio with a view, and a vibe that says “stay as long as you need.”

Cyclists, this place gets it. Whether you’re doing a training loop or tackling a big climb, Wondervu is the kind of stop that turns a tough ride into an unforgettable one. Thanks for the hospitality, Wondervu—you’re a highlight on the map.

A great place to stop for a great meal

If you love dogs and great food, this patio is the place to be! The carne asada tacos and enchiladas were super tasty and fresh. We topped it off with coin margaritas-perfect for sipping in the sunshine.

We made a round trip over 120 miles to get our ‘usual’ taco plate and beef and bean burro to find out that the menu had changed. Needless to say we were highly disappointed!!! We have been coming here over 25 years and bummed to find the menu changed with subpar food. We, sadly will not be back.

We’re from Kansas but have a cabin nearby, passing the Cafe many, many times over the years. I hadn’t been there for 47 years! The food was delicious yesterday, we had enough left over for our supper, and our nice server was great! Thank you. We’ll definitely be back!

My family got take-out on 1-4-2025 and were very disappointed. The rellenos with green chili were kind of bland but okay. The cheese enchiladas were hard inside and no one in our group was too sure about the new crema sauce. The side of beans was interesting, black beans not the typical pinto. The side of rice was horrible - bland white rice with frozen carrots and peas thrown in. There is no longer an a-la-carte option for enchiladas or rellenos, so we ordered an extra plate. Dede's no longer cooking her wonderful pies. New menu is very limited. Food was marginal. The biggest complaint though is that everything was separately microwaved in cheap plastic containers so we got an extra helping of PFAS with that order. There is a new owner so hopefully things will improve with time.

Once Kathy and John at that bar are gone I'm sure it will be a great place.

A place we will never wonder about again. We paid $4 for salsa and chips. Blegh. MAYBE 3 tablespoons of extremely salty salsa and in a tiny bowl with huge tasteless chips.
Mexican hamburger, SUPER greasy.
Green chili bowl that was ok... just okay.
ONLY thing I could safely eat, as everything else had MSG.
Just not worth the $$$ cost.
pass this place by.

Last night was by far the best food that we have ever had at the Wondervu Cafe. The Chef (Oscar) and his wife were warm and welcoming and they paid close attention to every detail in the entrees that our large table ordered. We had nachos, a Mexican burger, Chips, and Salsa, and a seasonal Guacamole. I can't even explain how good the food is. The Guac was perfect with the goat cheese and pomegranate. I/we are as thankful to have leftovers. The chips were homemade, everything was fresh and perfect. I highly recommend going to the Cafe as I know we will be back.
