Always delicious, consistent Mexican style food with fresh made tortillas from St. George, Utah. Taco Tuesday is a great deal if you’re looking to save some money! Try the habanero and corn salsa for added flavor. I always ask for jalapeños and limes! If you’re really hungry, try the chips and queso.

Unfortunately, the changes were disappointing. Although the space looks cleaner, portions have shrunk and prices have increased. Longtime menu staples have been removed, and the cost of two small tacos and a chicken quesadilla was comparable to a full steak dinner for two elsewhere. That said, the staff were pleasant and kind.

Had really good food but the staff there were terrible tonight, I’ve never written a review but the guy at the counter making the food made it a terrible experience, we ended up not even dining in like we had planned.

Last night (12/19/25 around 8:15 PM), my daughter and I stopped by Cafe Rio after her basketball games. We ordered a steak burrito and street tacos, but the experience quickly went downhill.
The employee preparing the food had a very poor attitude from the start. She told us she didn’t want to go to the back to get steak, so we would need to choose a different protein, which would have been fine if it had been communicated respectfully. Instead, she continued to act annoyed throughout the entire order, seemed frustrated with our selections, and made us feel unwelcome.
To make matters worse, she was wearing AirPods while working, which made communication difficult and unprofessional. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times because she couldn’t hear what we were saying.
I do want to highlight the cashier, though—she was fantastic. Super sweet, patient, and professional, especially after having to work alongside someone who clearly didn’t want to be there. Her attitude alone was the bright spot in an otherwise uncomfortable visit.
I hope management addresses this, because customer service like that can really take away from an otherwise great place to eat.

The new changes to the menu are abysmal! I used to eat here weekly and I would always get a burrito with the hatch green chili sauce. Removing this sauce as well as other options have made it to where I don't visit anymore. Please bring the old menu back!

This was the worst in a long line of terrible visits to this establishment. The changes to the menu are absolutely horrendous, but this made it 10 time worse. When I walked in the store it smelled like a nail salon. Nail polish and acetone. I asked for a light salad because I dont want a tortilla or guacamole, but I did ask if they could add some rice and beans and id pay the difference. This kid proceeded to fill the entier bottom of the bowl with rice put one spoonful of beans and an abysmal dollop of meat on the side. Then moving it to the next station i ask for shredded lettuce and the new guy helping me pulls out a clear 5 gallon bucket with 2 inches of water the in the bottom from under the counter, fishes out a small hand full of lettuce, rings it out and plops it onto the pile of rice in the bowl. He also covered the rest of it in the tortilla strips and that was it. Everyone acted like they would rather be anywhere else. They didnt even look at me. I get not wanting to be at work but wow. The continual experiences I have here make me never want to come back and with the changes to the menu I really dont think I will. I love cafe rio but the recent changes and horrible service make it impossible to enjoy.

I can’t even describe my devastation about the fact that y’all got rid of major staples on your menu, like the shredded beef and the hatch green chili. I can deal with the shredded beef I guess because at least they still have steak, but no hatch?! That’s literally a staple. The other two sauces are so gross and have completely different flavors… they aren’t even similar. I have always been obsessed with cafe Rio and visit at least a few times a month, even when the prices started spiking so greatly. Not anymore. Literally please at least bring the hatch back… that is insane to me.

I don’t like to write bad reviews but damn this really got me thinking. Food was alright but the guy who made my burrito tonight around 7pm was such a buzz kill. Bro definitely hates his life lol. He was showing me attitude, rolling his eyes after I told him to smother my burrito in queso… then threw the foil bowl with some Attitude. Once a big party left he started complaining about his job and asking his co workers what it takes to make more money and comparing his last job to this one. Also cussing in front of my kids (idk if he thought were still there) Look, I used to work fast food and definitely understand rude customers but we are pretty nice people, didn’t make our order difficult… if you hate your job so bad then go somewhere else. Grown man crying about money not knowing he has an advantage to work somewhere better like the oil field lol. we weren’t even mean or rude either. If your hate your job you can still treat people with respect and be a decent human, life is hard as it is. Definitely clocked his attitude though, nobody is ever happy at this place. Except our cashier, dude was pretty nice, I hope he has a good life haha.

I visited my favorite cafe rio yesterday and was blown away by the incredible staff, especially Josh! He went above and beyond to help my parents by explaining the options and promotions available at Cafe Rio. He even tried to go above and beyond by translating in Spanish! To be honest, we’ve been going to cafe rio for years, and no one has treated us like Josh did yesterday! Thanks, Josh, for making our experience at cafe rio truly unforgettable.

Don't bother ordering online for here unless you have time to drive out twice to get your full order.

Numerous times if I order chips, they're missing. Or the dressing is missing. Or the order is made incorrectly.

Wish there were another location that gives what you pay for.

I got a burrito and asked the guy for the habanero sauce on the side, he put it on….. I was like no big deal…… then I asked for lettuce and sour cream, he made my burrito then I sat down took a bite and there was no lettuce or sour cream! So I went up and asked for some , proceeded to eat and 3/4 the way through my burrito I found multiple bugs in the lettuce they just put on my burrito! Attached is a picture of one of them.
