Octopus Coffee 759 Horizon Dr, Grand Junction Cafe • $

“The burritos and sandwiches we had at the start of spring break were literally fantastic. In particular, the burrito had a harmonious taste with potatoes, sausage, tomatoes, and jalapenos all in one bite. I found this place just by looking at the ratings, but the Google ratings don't lie. The coffee was also fantastic. You can taste coffee beans from Africa that are hard to find in the United States. Full of acidity. Be sure to drink coffee before you go.”

She came back to take our order a couple minutes later and she was very helpful with myself when I had questions. First Watch 120 W Park Dr #107, Grand Junction Breakfast • $

“Had not been here in a while so a friend of mine and I popped in on a Friday around 10:00 a.m. they were not busy so we were seated very quickly in a lovely area with a big sunny window. It appeared that there was only one person waiting tables so it took a little while to get our menu and drinks. Our server was very nice, friendly, and offered good suggestions to my friend who had never eaten here before. There was a little mix up on my trifecta as I ordered the multi grain pancake & received a waffle. I checked with my friend to make sure I ordered correctly, and she assured me that I had asked for the pancake. Our server was very sweet and quickly ordered my pancake. My eggs were cooked perfectly, albeit a little cold. Not everyone knows how to cook medium well eggs and the chef at First Watch has this down! They have some amazing power drinks, an excellent kids menu, and a wide variety of interesting sandwiches, salads and breakfast items. Items. No matter how eclectic you're taste is, anyone and everyone can find something delectable at First Watch. The restrooms were extremely clean, as was the entire restaurant. There was a bus person standing by and as soon as anyone's plate was empty, he was right on it.We sat there for quite a while, visiting and no one really bothered us. As soon as we noticed the restaurant was getting busy and that there was a waiting line, we headed out. It's fairly easy to find, off of Patterson road, just past the Walgreens in the little strip mall down the hillKid-friendliness: Family friendly atmosphere!”

Even after looking at the website, we weren’t sure what to expect, but this place knocked it out of the park!! I got a flight sampler and loved all 4 of their beers I tried. My favorite was their Winter Ale. We both ordered the spicy chicken curry and I can’t stop thinking about it. We had been on vacation all week and this was by far our favorite place. “It was a clean and mellow atmosphere. You go to the counter to order, and they give you a buzzer thing to indicate when your food is ready. It is first come, first serve seating. When you're done eating, you buss your own table. The majority of the ingredients are from local farms. We (family & I) had the burger with sweet potato fries, a grand valley burger with shoe string fries, and a beef quiche with fruit. All 3 meals were delicious. One surprising discovery was the stubborn black cherry soda with tarragon (yum).Overall, I had a great time and yummy food”

China Jade 569 32 Rd STE 7A, Grand Junction Chinese • $

“My wife was craving some soup. I was near by for an appointment and called to ask what kind of soup they offered. They had standard egg flower, hot and sour and wonton. They also make a noodle soup you can choose your meat. So I got beef and chicken. I arrived a couple minutes later and it was hot and ready to go. Inside was kind of small, maybe 6-8 tables if I remember correctly. They’re situated in a strip mall off the I-70 business. Off to deliver the soup to my wife at work. She said it tasted really good and it was loaded with meat, noodles and vegetables. Next time we’re in the Clifton area we’re going to go eat here and try more dishes, take pics and I’ll review again. So far, so good.Vegetarian options: They can make and prepare several dishes without adding a meat variety to them.”

Los Jilbertos 2812 North Ave, Grand Junction Mexican • $

“Ah yes, the classic LJ. For years me and the boys roll up to LJ for that late night half order of super fries. They use msg and grease to create delicious and addictive Mexican food. Worth it all day long. The tacos are pretty decent, they have a good serving size on them. The half order of super fries is the best use of money. (The full order has the same toppings but with more fries) LJs is also a 24/7 shop, so you can stop by anytime for a quick bite. This place is absolutely packed on Fridays and some weekends though. Enough so they have to hire third party security. I’m also a celiac, and I don’t get too horribly sick eating here. It’s probably cross contamination capital, but I can never tell if it’s gluten or just the grease bomb I ate making my stomach turn lol. So I’ll keep eating it every once and while. Y’all if you haven’t been here though, you gots to go!Parking: It’s a little tight of a parkway. When it’s not a line spilling into the road, you should be able to get in and out with a medium car quite easily.”

I was there for breakfast (having been told that they can get really busy, I figured we'd make it our first stop of the day). Plan ahead to make sure you have time to wait for your order if they are busy!I really enjoyed the vibe and could totally see hanging out, studying, etc. here if I were going to be in town longer. Our server was Sophia and I must take a moment to compliment her on her amazing level of service comparable to a Ritz-Carlton. I find that when I go to a restaurant and I pay more than I'd like, what makes all the difference in the world is service and knowing that Sophia is in charge of training for waitresses of the Devil's Kitchen is literally the best thing that could have happened to that restaurant.Sofia just exudes service, which I've only experienced a few times in my life, definitely at the Ritz-Carlton.She is a gem.And of course the food was great and the views always amazing.”

El Charro Loco 2886 North Ave, Grand Junction Mexican • $

“This was our first visit to this newly established restaurant. I ordered the Enchilada Nortena (5) with 3 smaller sized enchiladas that were very filling: steak, grilled chicken, and a potato/chorizo filling - each have their own sauces. Exceptional & unique flavors with fresh ingredients. My husband ordered the #3 Combo: ground beef crunchy taco (4), ground beef enchilada (4), and a chili relleno (5) - large, meaty poblano, cheese filled, battered and fried with just right amount of sauce. Both platters are a served with puréed beans (5) and rice (4). I normally prefer chunky beans (personal preference) but these were delicious. Also, do not enjoy Spanish rice, typically underwhelming but these were very flavorful with smidge of melted cheese on top. Plates came out piping hot. Table served with freshly made warm tortilla chips and homemade salsa, puréed (5), very tasty. Service was good, attended to our needs at just the right time. Interior presented their culture and was exceptionally clean. Prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this new restaurant, we will definitely return. They have unique flavor profiles that is a step above.”
