The Historic Rapids Lodge and Restaurant

We had lunch by the river. Caroline was our server, the food and service were amazing! The River views were even better. Highly recommend.

My husband and I went yesterday for our 16 year anniversary. I was given a very generous gift certificate for Christmas and we wanted to finally use it. What a delightful experience!! The food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress and everyone we encountered were all so friendly. We are long time locals and definitely would recommend this restaurant, especially for date nights.

If I could give them a million stars I would! I love eating at The Rapids. There is truly nothing better. We have been coming for years. The food is top notch, the service is superb, the location is incredible. This is a place you must visit!

We didn't stay at this lodge, but we did eat dinner at the on-site Rapids Restaurant while camping and visiting Grand Lake. This restaurant is absolutely amazing!!! They seated us for lunch outside on the patio area, which was right next to the roaring Rapids! The tables were so cute, and there was even a table with a gazebo to ear as well. It was so refreshing sitting there next to the water. If you are in front of the restaurant, you would never know that special restaurant was so amazing. It's an older historic type lodging in an all wood structure. But right up the hill from Grand Lake. We ate lunch there, and the burgers we had had pomegranate flavored onions soaked in wine sauce. They were SO delicious! The burgers were awesome, as was a honey smoked salmon appetizer that we had. Our server was Caroline, and she did a fabulous job making us feel welcome! She had a great sense of humor and is a real asset to this restaurant! She even took pictures of me and my husband in front of the rapids! Highly recommend! Next time we'll be going back for dinner!

My husband & I love The Rapids restaurant. It’s our go to when we want a wonderful meal. The food is top notch & Tatiana is such a special lady & makes the dining experience that much better. The Chef, Max, never disappoints. It’s the cutest setting. I look forward to eating outside by the river as the weather gets nicer. A++ from me. If you want a great meal & special dining experience go here! 😊

I would have LOVED to give this place a good review as the food was very good. However, what happened after is nothing like I’ve ever experienced and as a business owner myself I am absolutely floored. Our bill was somewhere in the $70s ( can’t remember exact) . I placed a 50 dollar bill and 2 $20s in. I know some places are cashless so instead of even leaving it on the table I even walked it over to our waitress and handed it to her verifying they accepted cash. She opened it looked at us and said thank you. About 45 minutes later my niece noticed that she had a missed call from the restaurant ( they had her number from making the reservation). Of course we thought we must have left something and called back. I was across the table and could hear the lady very rudely accusing us of not paying enough. She was extremely rude proceeding to say things like “this stuff doesn’t happen to us” which basically to me applies she thinks we weren’t good enough to dine at her establishment and couldn’t “afford” it. I promise you that isn’t an issue. I would typically question if I made a mistake but I knew exactly how much cash I had on me and double checked because I would never stiff someone as I said I myself am a small business owner . My niece took the call better than I would have. She asked her politely what she was wanting us to do and she wanted us to give her a credit card over the phone. We absolutely were not going to do that when we know for 100% that we paid $90 even. She proceeded to be absolutely nasty over the phone so we hung up. She then proceeded to continue to call back. After further review of some of the google and Facebook reviews it seems that the management is absolutely terrible and rude to several customers . I’ve never in my life experienced someone be so hateful and accuse someone like that and proceed to act like we weren’t good enough. As I said, if I knew we did make a mistake it would have been no issue but I can guarantee that we did not .

The fact that you replied the way you just did proves it all. The way you reply to your bad reviews is terrible business . it’s very clear you need an attitude adjustment or maybe a hug. My niece was so kind to you on the phone and NEVER accused anyone of stealing anything she simply said maybe it fell out in her apron. Our waitress was very kind .. but she also opened it and looked and ASKED us if we needed change so she clearly saw it. You want to be mad because you feel like we’re lying but how do you think we feel? I hope your damn doors get shut down if you’re the owner. You do not deserve to own a business

We came here for dinner. The reviews were good, and the menu was compelling. We had a choice table with great outside view with creek rushing over the rocks. My wife decided on the fresh trout, and I chose the elk medallions. The first course was a representation of a salad. Small without much substance. There was a palate cleanser consisting of a small scoop of overly sweet sorbet. My Elk medallions were a generous size, perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. My wife was also pleased with her fish. For the price, we did not feel the supporting cast of sides were seemingly after thoughts.

Good location right along the creek and good service for dinner. The honey roasted dried salmon with gnocchi was strange but calorifically satisfying. But way way overpriced.$49 for that is absurd. Service was quick and friendly. Wouldn’t eat here unless someone other was buying.

This is the greatest place is Grand County. I bring everyone that visits here to this place and this place only. I take my employees here for any work celebrations. Any excuse I can find, I’m here. Don’t wait to try their steak and key lime pie. It’s absolutely amazing.
