Food had literally zero seasoning. I had the taco salad, my sister had chicken tacos and BOTH of them were completely devoid of any flavor. If they had been giving this out for free, I would have still felt ripped off.

My wife and I were in town and wanted to try a local restaurant. This place looked inviting, so we decided to try it. The building is on point, but the food is NOT authentic and NOT good. My wife’s tacos were sad. The chicken had zero seasonings, and they threw a little lettuce and cheddar (real authentic) cheese on top. That’s it. We asked if we could get some pico and the waitress explained that they do not have that. Really? Authentic? I got the burrito supreme. My chicken had zero seasonings on it. My wife asked me if the chicken tasted old, like it had been it a fridge or freezer a long time. I said, yep! Tasted like a dog. The bill was $39 and change without the tip. Honestly, Taco Bell or Taco John’s had more flavor and is about half the price. The chicken didn’t sit well with either of us. Not fresh and zero seasonings. The ONLY positive things were our waitress and the building. She was brand new but did well. We didn’t want to ruin her day by complaining because she wasn’t the one who made up the menu or prepared our food. Would love to have a refund. Tasted awful and cost $46.92 with the tip.

We arrived and was told to sit anywhere. Sat at table in front of hostess station. After several minutes young lady dropped off menus and silverware but did not ask for drinks. After 10mins a lady sitting by window with her children approached our table and said there was some confusion. I expressed my disappointment with the wait time for drinks and I said I was just about to get up and leave and this woman (who claim to be the manager) suddenly got rude and said there was confusion but if we weren't happy we could leave. My partner asked to speak with manager and she insisted she was even though she was eating with food in her mouth and children at table. Very unprofessional & discourteous to guest. I've owned my business for 30 yrs and never would I treat a patron as she did. Thank God for the nice steak house down the road. I will be sure to express our disappointment with this resturant. We visit Gunnison often in our Motorhome but we will never spend our money at any Ruiz Family owned resturant if that is the way they have employees treat patrons and how unprofessional to have her eating with her children and then rudely approach our table with a bad attitude. Even the nice black gentleman that kindly greeted us at the door upon arrival appeared stunned. We politely left at took ourselves to the familiar Ol Miner resturant where we know they have quality food & service!

please see our Google review and avoid this place and consider yourself warned of the horrible manager, rude attitude and eating with her children before approaching our table after having waited several minutes for just a drink order. no apologies just welcomed us to leave if we weren't happy. Unprofessional and not a recommendation from us. Thank God for other restaurant in the area.

Cafe Silvestre is one of the best restaurants in Gunnison. Each meal is made to order and cooked when ordered. The ingredients are fresh and the meal temperature is always hot. The service and atmosphere is friendly, courteous and knowledgeable of the menu selections.

Parking: Parking spots are on the side and in the rear of the restaurant.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is at least one handicap parking spot.

I had high hopes for this place. Probably the worst Mexican food I've ever had in my life. How can you mess up something so simple. I could have made a better plate blindfolded half drunk.

NOT REAL MEXICAN FOOD! How can you mess up tacos?! Only 2 tacos with rice & beans was $22, which is hella overpriced (even in Gunni). It was NOT even good. Shredded beef should NOT have a gelatin-like consistency. Gross. Who doused this in pure fat? Not even barbacoa tastes like this. Please note: We wanted Añejos, but they weren't answering and hungry. Should have gone to Taco Bell. Damn waste of money.
