Experience was overall ok! Our server was attentive - bonus points here. The food was just ok and I felt like the price was high for the quality.
Simms always delivers a wonderful experience. The service, food and drinks are exceptional and the atmosphere is perfect for a quiet conversation or an energetic group of friends for happy hour. Who can beat those views of the city?!!
The brunch spread offered a wide variety of options and represented an excellent value. Went back for more and more. Delicious!
The view from Simms Steakhouse is undeniably beautiful — it's the highlight of the experience and sets high expectations for the evening. Unfortunately, the service and overall dining experience don't measure up to the premium price point. For a restaurant positioned as upscale, the attention to detail, attentiveness of staff, and overall atmosphere felt lacking. While the setting is impressive, the service left me feeling disappointed. At this price level, you expect seamless hospitality and a memorable experience, but instead it felt ordinary and at times inattentive. The disconnect between the stunning view and the underwhelming service makes the evening feel less special than it should. In short: come for the view, but don't expect the level of service or overall experience that the cost suggests.
Our server JP was outstanding! He made out birthday celebrations wonderful. The food was delicious.
previous experiences have been fabulous. this time not so much. our waitress was not very attentive and kept letting us know she was going to handle other tables first and then would skip us anyway to go do other tasks. she also told us completely different choices for our drinks than what we received. the crab cake was good but the steaks were average, not hot when they arrived, and the accompanying sauce was cold. the scalloped potatoes had big chunks of potatoes along with very thick slices which is typically not how they have been previously. the mashed potato side was good. even with a reservation we had for several weeks, we were still seated directly next to the stairs on the upper level even with open tables right next to the window or on the lower level. the constant traffic of staff going right by as well as the area next to us frequently being used as a staging area definitely took away from the ambience. the attire of the other guests was strange from ripped jeans and dirty tshirts to a gentleman wearing a Nike hoodie and then having on a see through T-shirt and a tank top when he finally removed it. definitely felt more like a Texas Roadhouse than an upscale steakhouse, unfortunately. disappointing overall. might give it another chance as it was so good before but will probably look elsewhere for a special anniversary dinner experience next time.
Expensive sea bass tasting fishy and dry, tells me it was frozen, unacceptable at that price. Pear Salad came drenched in dressing wilting greens, not good, did not eat it, sent it back, did not want replacement. NY strip was ok Brussel sprouts not cooked through. Overall, great views, but food overrated and overpriced
After many years of feeling totally spoiled here, we left this time just feeling financially gouged. Lots of small errors by our waiter, who seemed to be trying, but we corrected those possible so as not to seem like we were harassing him. The pricing for every single item on the menu versus what ultimately served was exorbitant. While the food was acceptable the portions were lean for what we paid. Worst of all was our attempt to celebrate our guest's wedding anniversary was virtually a "no-show" from the restaurant. A verbal congratulations was it...nothing even as a feeble effort on the part of the restaurant. I can't fathom what occasion would have us return here. The view of the city remains as the highlight. Disappointed and somewhat embarrassed for our guests...the anniversary celebration really missed the mark.
Was seated right away, but the whole dinning room was empty, except for a large table in the corner and they seated us right nexts to them and maybe my chair was a foot away. We asked to be seated at a few tables down and we were accommodated. They said the waiter that had this table was not on duty yet, which was weird to be told this. We ordered the Rockefeller and it had, either salt pieces in the spinach or it was shell pieces. It seemed warmed over and the cheese was golden, but not even warm to the touch. But we over looked this and ordered our meals. I had a filet and all that came out was the filet on a plate, no color, or thought put into what the dish looked like. The only taste this filet had was a odd old taste. My husband had the scallops/risotto. The risotto still had hard pieces in the middle, so not cooked correctly. Gordon Ramsey would have had a fit and the scallops, no sear or color what- so -ever and the taste, again did not seem fresh. We ordered the scalloped potatoes and you could tell they were made from old baked potatoes. All in all, the food was not that good for the price that was paid. The service was marginal, because we did not have a waiter assigned to our table, as we were told, so the gentleman that had the large table, I guess was our waiter. Someone needs to show them how to wait a table. You should never reach over a customer to fill water, to pick up a plate, or to serve the food. We should have said something, but what is known here is the view. We learned this restaurant is owned by Landry's and I have to say, it is a hit or miss for this company anymore. We used to come to this restaurant when it was Simms Landing, back in the days of yore and had found memories of the food and the view. It is a bit dated inside. Parking is a bit of a joke. It's all valet except for the lower level and it is a hike. I look at it like this. It would be worth the hike up the mountain if the food and service were out of this world.
Our server was always filling up our beverages and taking the finished plates off the table. She was very pleasant and always had a smile on her face with a good sense of humor. The buffet had a good variety of food.

We were at Simm's for a private party catered dinner. The food was phenomenal, the service great and the private party on the terrace overlooking the city made the atmosphere very private. A great time was had by all!
