The chili cheese fries had a lot of grease or oil. Tasted good but I feel like they did now drain the fries from the oil.

The potatoes had a lot of oil, they were delicious but they didn't seem to remove the oil from the potatoes.

$9 for a burrito that's just meat and beans—no cheese, tomato, cilantro, or onion. It came with some salsa, but that alone couldn't save it. The chicken tasted more like chicken soup, dominated by celery flavor. They didn't even fold the ends of the burrito. The staff wasn't particularly friendly or helpful. The restaurant is literally a converted Subway with minimal changes. A comparable burrito at Santiago's, with better-tasting meat, is only $3.35. I'm debating whether to eat this pathetic mess, even though I'm quite hungry. Very disappointing. If there is any decent food at this restaurant, the owners are doing a disservice by serving this sad excuse for a burrito. -changing to one star because this burrito made me sick to my stomach

If you’re hungry and driving down South Sheridan and you see the Taco Bell, pull right in. Then go through to the back for some of the best Birria Tacos you’ve had at El Palenque. Owner and staff lovely and accomodating. Support your locals. Screw the chains. This is the real deal 10/10 ~✅??✅

Little converted subway turned taqueria, we stopped for tacos and were mostly satisfied. The asada and El pastor were good but the carnitas were a bit dry and the barbacoa was a little fatty. We took some of the cookies for desert, they were fun. Overall, pretty good.

Food was horrible?. My fries were swimming in grease and my husband's caldo was flavorless and the rice was watery. The onion and cilantro were old. And to top it off the waitress was in a bad mood ??

Really enjoyed the food, and the owner is a great guy. Looking forward to coming for drinks after work once the bar is open!
