Larkspur Pizzeria & Cafe

We recently visited Larkspur Pizzeria and Cafe, a place we have loved for many years. When we lived in Larkspur, this pizzeria was a familiar spot for us, and we visited it many times, always enjoying their food. The pizza was, as always, truly delicious—but unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by poor communication, long wait times, and dismissive customer service.
We ordered takeout, and before placing our order, my husband went inside to ask whether we should order in person or online. An employee specifically instructed us to place an online order but did not mention that the restaurant operates two separate ordering systems. We were not informed that their internal system had significantly shorter wait times, and as a result, we unknowingly placed our order through DoorDash, which led to excessive delays.
Initially, the online system estimated 28 minutes for our order (three large 18-inch pizzas and two appetizers), but after finalizing, the wait time suddenly jumped to 66 minutes. When I went inside to address the issue, an employee attempted to help me cancel the order, explaining that their in-house system would have processed it much faster. However, canceling was not possible, and when the manager (or owner) got involved, he reacted with visible frustration, dismissing our concerns rather than offering any solution.
Despite reassurances from an employee that our order would be ready sooner than the 66-minute estimate, it actually took nearly 80 minutes. At 7:45 PM, the order was still not ready, and we finally received our food at 7:55 PM. My husband also attempted to speak with the manager, only to be met with the same unhelpful and angry attitude. While one employee sincerely apologized for the situation, the overall service and handling of our concerns were unacceptable.
We truly appreciate the food and have fond memories of this place from our years living in Larkspur, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. Had we been properly informed about the ordering process, we could have avoided this frustrating situation entirely. Great food is important, but customer service matters too—and unfortunately, this visit left us hesitant about returning.

We were staying at the Jellystone cabins and ordered pizzas for everyone. This was some of the best quality pizzas ever. I highly recommend them.

We stopped in on a whim while out for my wife’s birthday and were pleasantly surprised. It was just a quick lunch, but the food was so good it ended up being a real highlight of the day. We had pizza, spaghetti, a fresh salad, and the Italian sausage rigatoni—and every dish was excellent. You can tell real care goes into the food here. A surprise this good absolutely deserves a review. We’ll definitely stop in again when we’re back in the area.

Excellent food choices and atmosphere!

Came here for lunch with the family after the USAFA graduation parade. We all loved it, hands down the best pizza we’ve ever had. We tried the Philly cheese steak, margarita, veggie, and pineapple pizzas, and they were all delicious. Crispy crust, perfect amount of toppings and cheese. 10” is the perfect size per person. One of us had a sandwich, and one of the kids had ravioli. Both were really good, as well. Service was great, too. 10/10 highly recommend

I came here specifically because of their Walleye fish fry on Friday nights. The fish was delicious and was cooked wonderfully. It reminded me of having fish fry in Wisconsin. The green beans and Cole slaw were also delicious.

The restaurant has limited seating but they are using all of their space including having outdoor seating available. The staff works very hard to take care of everyone. It is great to have a place like this in the small town of Larkspur.

Small, cozy pizzeria. Their lasagna looked and smelled delicious - gonna try it next time.

Cozy place, had a tasty vanilla porter while waiting for a takeout order. The calzones we ordered were delicious! Staff are friendly and huge Nuggets fans! Will surely be back when down in Larkspur.

We have eaten here a couple times and everything we’ve had has been delicious! The butternut, cranberry, pecan salad was amazing! The stuffed shells were very tasty and the sausage, pepper sandwich and meatball sandwiches were huge and very good! We really enjoyed Heathers’s Apple Crisp Ala mode was amazing! We will be back again to try more things!

I ordered to-go but I arrived early and had a beer while waiting. The staff is friendly and accurate with the wait time and the food was great! The Pineapple Express pizza is excellent 🔥🔥

Ordered online stuffed shells, house salad, and the risotto balls. It was not good at all. Stuff shells tasted like they came out of the freezer. The cheese stuffing was dry and not edible. Salad was supposed to come with balsamic dressing but only came with oil. Risotto balls were under cooked. Was not a good experience at all:(

First time here and it was a quaint little place with great food. The mama Mia pizza was delicious. My wife had the walleye and it was good as well. Service was good although a little slow this evening - which was fine because it gave us plenty of time to touch base with friends.

Great little place to stop and rest. Has good food and nice outdoor picnic tables that are all shaded.
