Tennessee Pass Cookhouse offers a unique dining experience with stunning views and memorable adventures. Located at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center, guests can enjoy cross-country skiing or snowshoeing before their meal. The hike up to the cookhouse is steep and takes about 40 minutes, but the cozy and intimate setting, complete with a roaring fire and a warm yurt, makes the effort worthwhile. The service is friendly, and the courses are well-timed. The menu features a range of dishes, including the popular brussel sprouts salad and the elk rack, as well as a crowd-pleasing chocolate dessert. Visitors have praised the phenomenal food, lovely atmosphere, and friendly staff, including the talented Chef Maureen.
Guests have also enjoyed visiting during different seasons, with some discovering the Nordic center last winter for cross-country skiing and then trying brunch in the summer after a beautiful mountain hike, topped off with amazing breakfast food and the best view in Lake County. Events like the Bubbles and Bites offer live music, local food options, and interesting drinks in the great outdoors, making it a fun place both winter and summer. Many visitors find the experience to be very personal and unique, unlike other places in the Rocky Mountains.
The whole experience at the cookhouse is highly praised, with perfect timing for each course and mouth-watering food. Some guests have enjoyed the live guitar music in the yurt, especially during dinner. For a more fun journey, crossing-country skiing is recommended over snowshoeing to get to and from the yurt. Everyone interacting with the staff comments on their warmth, kindness, and professionalism, making the visit truly above and beyond. Despite some minor drawbacks like outdoor outhouses, the overall experience is a memorable treat, with incredible hospitality and unforgettable moments.
