Our server made this experience pleasant. Food was fine but it wasn't great. Everything could use a hot rag and a renewal of color and pazzaz. I understand the 1950s was 75 years ago, but the ambiance of this place is supposed to bring you back in time. Of course the shakes were delicious, but the burgers and fries were less than impressive. Our server was delightful and full of enthusiasm. It was kids night with free face painting so we will be back for that. But will reconsider having desert there instead of dinner.

Old time dinner. Cosistantly good food. Good service and love the retro vibe.

Walked in and was seated. Then walked right out because I wasn’t greeted within 5 min. The hostess just kept busing a table and the lady behind the counter just kept putting cups away. And a bus boy also walked by and didn’t even say hello or offer to get me a drink. It was dead in there and they didn’t have any sense of being there and helping the little customers they had.

Coming from the New York Metro, I grew up with diners. Having lived elsewhere in the country, I discovered that they are rare when you leave that area.

I moved to Denver, assuming that real diners were behind me. Then we discovered Gunther Toody's. Oh joy! Bliss!

The rules of a true diner include 1. Breakfast all day.
2. Comfort foods, like burgers and meatloaf. This isn't a place that offers kale. And that is a good thing.

We decided to take advantage of the diner rules. My daughter ordered a half order of biscuits with sausage gravy. And Beignets. The raspberry, which came with a side of chocolate dipping sauce.

We took a booth by the Harley, and our waitress was wonderful. I ordered a burger with Swiss and mushrooms, and asked for mashed instead of fries.

And coffee.
I am a fussy about my coffee. No Starbucks for me. I brew my own at home with a coffee press, thanks. And I don't expect much when I eat out. But my java addiction is strong, so I asked for coffee.

First test...5 stars.
Fresh, just strong enough and no burnt overtones. I believe I downed three cups of their perfect brew.

The biscuits and gravy were fantastic. My daughter made happy sounds.

The Beignets were perfect. Fresh, light and the best compliment to the dipping chocolate. (I had one myself. The angels sang!)

Now let's talk about the burger. My inner carnivore was primed for beef. I should explain that all burgers are NOT created equal. I am a fan of In and Out, but fast food Burgers have truly dulled our senses to what a truly fine burger can be.

I took a cautious bite.

Omg.
I am not sure what they do. But it was delicious, and fresh and a perfect combo.
A truly fine burger needs no condiments. I ate this one just as it came. The mashed were wonderful to, with brown gravy on the side.

So good!

The prices were reasonable.
The service was lovely.
Absolutely worth a visit.
My thanks for bringing a diner back to our options!

We will return!😁

We came by to celebrate our son’s 3rd birthday. The kids love the smiley face pancakes! Bobby Jo was amazing and made sure that our kiddos birthday was also! They gave him a cute hat, taught him how to do the twist, and announced the celebration to the whole restaurant! In addition to that, everything that I’ve had to eat there is so good! 10/10 will return!!

TL;DR: Gunther Today Diner is a cool 50s-themed spot with good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service.

Gunther Today Diner is a fun, nostalgic 50s-themed restaurant that’s worth a visit. The food was pretty good, and the prices were very reasonable. I stopped by late in the morning and missed the usual rush, so the service was quick and friendly. It’s a great spot for a relaxed, affordable meal with a retro vibe!

I've been to several throwback diners. This one is about on par. Nothing special about the food. I get the same plate (eggs Benedict) at first visit to compare food quality. The hollandaise sauce was sub par.
