I've been up many times to the top of Pikes Peak. First time to the new visitor center on top. They did a good job remodeling the top. Lots of areas to walk around now. The famed donuts used to be better..
Dog-friendliness: Definitely dog friendly.
Drive to summit is one if the best experience, not for light hearted driver. Driver should be experienced since we go to 14000ft in few miles and lots of hair pin turns. From the summit view is awsome. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours.
Toilets: They have restrooms at the summit
Drive up to the peak was amazing with beautiful views but the switchbacks are a little tight. Takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get from the main gate to the top, 15 to 20 MPH for most of the way up, but the drive is worth it. Beautiful views. There's a nice visitor center with a diner and bathrooms so you can take a break from the weather if you need/want to, but bring a jacket no matter what time of the year you go. It is definitely worth the trip!
A beautiful drive and a beautiful visitors center.
Took the train, was very nice and fun, beautiful scenery.would highly recommend doing it.the air is very thin I'm from Michigan so it's very noticeable.
Awesome!
Toilets: Very clean facility!
Just beautiful
Views are amazing, but the drive is pure treachery and no body warns you - the only wwarning say use low gear. Early part of the drive is pretty mild, but as you pass the 10,000 ft level, road becomes very steep, hair pin turns, and the road is literally on the edge of 400 foot drop-offs with no guard rails. If your faint of heart, have even a slight issue with heights or any risk of panic, take caution, and remember, as bad as the trek up is, your turning around at the top and driving it back down with your foot firmly but shakily planted on the break for about 18 miles!!! Yes, views are amazing, from the lakes and over looks to the peak! Several places to stop for food and restrooms, and numerous photo opp stops. Plan around park and road closing. It takes about an hour to go up, so don't cut the time too close, they do close the gates. Props to the numerous bicyclers making their way to the top-truly inspirational. Best bet, take the Cog train up and avoid the terror!
Loved the view but was so disappointed with the summit shop. They were out of everything!! The cupboards were bare and the restaurant part was too, and it was only 11 o'clock!! All the hype about this beautiful summit place and to arrive to this, was to say the least discouraging ?.
Toilets: They had restrooms.
On top of the world, can see for miles and miles, relaxing cog train ride, with wonders along the ride. This is a must on a bucket list.

Sunrise trip on the Manitou Cog Railway in September. Cold at the top but beautiful views. The new summit house visitor center has informative exhibits and warm places to catch your breath.
