Cozy diner that serves breakfast and lunch. It seems that only one person was running the place himself, but he was doing a great job! He welcomed us from the kitchen and told us to sit wherever we like. After we ordered, the food came out quickly and we ate it just as fast! It was so good that we came here two mornings in a row! We had the breakfast burrito and chocolate pancakes. It wasn't busy, and we snagged a close parking spot. Will be going back every time we are in Manitou Springs!

Food was good with fun and friendly staff. However, it could use a deep cleaning and a little remodeling.

Google maps says you are open at 8:30, the sign on your window says you are open at 8:30, it is currently 8:55 a.m. and the building is locked up. No sign anywhere on the front of the building stating that you'll be closed for the day, this is an unacceptable way to run a business.

Just a correction to the hours. It's a 1 person restaurant most of the time and he actually says that the doors open at 8:30 ish. I have an actual acquaintanceship with the owners and they do wish this to be known.

Mom and pop diner. I love all the pictures of original owners on the wall. Food was excellent. There was only one man (the owner) working this morning but the service was still 10/10. The food was made fresh and hot. Biscuits taste homemade. Potatoes are a must. The portions were perfect. I would definitely go again.

Maybe we were too excited and our expectations too high, but this was not worth the experience. The service was very friendly, but kept misremembering or mishearing us. The cheese on my meal wasn't melted and was covered in flour, the pancakes tasted slightly burnt. The coffee wasn't just weak; it was lukewarm and tasted like water. We love the old school flatware and decor, but there was spiderwebs coated in dust and obviously wasn't cleaned in a while. Very disappointing.

The food was the only good part. But the surroundings of the environment made me nervous to eat the food. This little restaurant was NOT at all clean. Visible spiders and spider webs everywhere!!!!! Dust everywhere!! Salt and pepper shakers and other condiment containers were filthy!!
We were not important.

About 3 weeks ago we decided to try this place. We were seated almost immediately but we were informed it may be a while to order. No problem and it really wasn't that long. I got the quiche, my son got the biscuits and gravy. For a one man show, I think he did very well. The quiche was good but that is the end of the good. The coffee cups were extremely dirty on the inside, as were the glasses the orange juice? came in. It was the first time in my son's 40 years that he refused to eat the biscuits and gravy. It was gritty with water separating from the gravy . The interior is in need of total rehab. Areas patched with cheap laminate are sagging. Wallpaper? has been water-soaked at some time and is sagging and peeling. View of the kitchen from the dining area is not recommended. The whole place appears not to have been cleaned in two years or more. Sorry but this place needs a makeover.

While the food was great.... the service was terrible. The waitress could not keep track of what orders went where, did not check in on us, and never brought us our check. If the service was good I'd give it a higher rating. But I've never been anywhere so lacking in organization...

The best breakfast in Manitou! I always get the classic breakfast and the pancakes. Has a small town diner feel, which is what I think some of the other reviewers don't like. If you want a boujee experience go somewhere else, but if you want to eat the most delicious breakfast then check out The Kitchen. I'm pretty sure it's just the cook (owner?) and a waitress who works there. That's a lot of work for two people so naturally if they're busy the food will take longer. Especially since I'm pretty sure it's made from scratch. Anyway, I get disappointed whenever I go anywhere else for breakfast in Manitou. Thank you to The Kitchen staff for always serving the tastiest food!!! <3

This place is horrid. My father and I after a long day of Christmas shopping had popped in for lunch. No complaints on the service. They were really nice and sat us really quickly. But. We both order some biscuits and gravy. Everything looked okay until they brought the biscuits and gravy with chives and cheese on top of them. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think chives go on biscuits and gravy. So we politely asked for them to be taken off. And the staff did take them off. We then began eating them. The biscuits were rock hard. You could use them as baseballs. The forks we were using could barely get through them without almost breaking the plate. The gravy was very grainy like sand had been mixed into it. The sausage in the gravy was really rubbery and you could barely chew it. The kitchen at the time didn’t look properly cleaned. There was a bunch of food scattered on the floor and on the stove. The chef (which I don’t know his situation at the time.) looked very dirty. He had a sweaty dirty shirt that look like it had food dried on it. Sweat pants that looked drenched in sweat. I don’t think enough care was put in the time my father and I went. I personally don’t recommend this place. But try at your own risk.
