Food is very good. Service is good. Nice restaurant. BEWARE of the parking scam, though. If you want to eat here, DO NOT park in the lot. Park in the municipal lot and walk to the restaurant. Parking in the lot will result in a fine, $45-$85, even if you comply with the electronic registration process in the restaurant as posted. The owners of Ubon Thai have nothing to do with this parking scam and have no control over it. They are as much the victims of it as their patrons, as they are certain to lose business because of it. We've been eating there for years, but they've lost our business permanently.

We always eat here when we're in Nederland. We like it because there is less oil and fat in the food and there are plenty of vegetable options. The fresh spring roll (not the fried type) is like a salad you can hold in your hand. The kids and adults all enjoy this place. The interior is not fancy, but in the summer there is an outdoor option. Service is always great.

I ordered pad Thai with chicken and drunken noodles with chicken, medium spicy. Overall, the flavor is bold. Another review stated that it is overly sweet. Yes, but not to a point that is unacceptable. Spiciness on the drunken noodles is great. The chicken is very dry, but it's breast so I get it. The pad Thai is good, on the sweet side but not too bad. Overall, their flavor is very bold.

However, I am giving this place 2 stars because both the noodle on the pad thai (thinner) and the drunken noodles (thicker) were very very very old and not fresh. Since we ordered to go, at first, I thought they just undercooked it a little so it can sit longer in food containers. The noodle was hard, so I ended up reheating in on stove. This is when I realized the noodle is very old because even after re-cooking it with some water, the noodles were still hard and has a gainey texture to it. I know it is old because I buy fresh pho noodles in Los Angeles from factory, and there was this one time I left the noodle for 4 weeks before I cook it in an sealed bag and refrigerated. That's exactly how it tasted, no matter how long you cook it, it has a hard and gainey texture to it.

The old noodle on both dishes are not acceptable.

Every main dish we ordered was extremely sweet, peanut sauce was strange, pad Thai noodles weren’t great texture-wise. I couldn’t finish my pad Thai noodles at all because they were so sweet and had to give them to my boyfriend that eats anything. However, given that it is a very small town our expectations had to be lower. Three stars for being the only Asian food in a large radius and because the prices are extremely reasonable plus good service
