Wished I lived closer. I'd never cook! Lol

I've now given this place a try, three times now. The food is always just OK and very overpriced. The service is what needs improvement the most.

Long time breakfast staple in a wonderful community

Wow, this place has really gone downhill!

It’s too bad too. It has always been overpriced for breakfast, but in the past at least you could count on having a decent experience and getting decent service. It seems to have been gradually going downhill for the past year or so. The current staff is not shy about letting you know how little your presence means to them. There is zero ambiguity to the fact that they would much rather be somewhere else.

You know how it feels when your drink goes untended for the majority of your meal. And then when you do get a refill it’s practically tossed at you, no wasted effort with regards to grace. Or how it feels when you just need a togo container, but you can’t figure out what on earth happened to your waitress. Or you need change, if only there was someone to help. Welcome to The Garden Gate Café folks.

Have you ever finally had to walk up to the counter to request a togo container, only to have TWO employees BOTH turn their backs to your request and pretend like they don’t care? News Flash! They actually don’t care and they are unconcerned about who knows it. There must be either an absence of ownership, an absence of standards, or both.

Either way, don’t waste your money here folks, it is not appreciated! The chef is decent, but prices have been raised both upfront and through portion reduction. Save your money!

This restaurant is not safe for diners with food allergies. I asked before ordering if the eggs, hash browns, and bacon could be made DF. I confirmed once the food arrived and was told it was dairy free. I’ve been sick since shortly after I ate and am covered in hives. The food was fine, but definitely not good enough to justify a full blown allergic response.

I love this place (visited the Niwot and Longmont locations). The atmosphere is country cute. Never too loud. The staff was awesome (and our waitress was quite funny). The food is always good, and provides a broad option for breakfast and lunch dishes. Standard coffee is good, too.

Have not been here in a while and I must say the food was great. A surprise to me was that their mocha was far better than their neighbor Wynot coffee shop.

Dietary restrictions: Some gluten free options, but not a lot

Food was good! Service was horrible. Our server tried to give us our check when we were halfway through our meal, then came back before we had finished with it. Then came back about 10 minutes ago later, checked for our credit cards (not there yet to pay) and mentioned that there's a waiting line for seating. Of course we knew this, but this is the first time a server has been so blatantly pressuring to finish and leave. We were catching up with friends over breakfast, and it put a decided damper on that. We won't be coming back.

Tried this place on a whim. Cute appearance inside and out. Food was okay.... hashbrowns were mushy and tasted like instant potatoes (my hubby's were cold), scrambled eggs were not cooked all the way through in the middle. Bacon and French toast were good.

I ordered the Praline pecan pancake, and it was delicious! I also got bacon with scrambled eggs. The eggs should have been hot rather than just warm. My daughter got the wrong type of potatoes, but she ate what she was served. They were not busy but did have some regular customers in there. They also have an outdoor eating area.

Considered 4 stars because the food was actually quite good and came out reasonably fast so credit to the kitchen staff. Otherwise i would consider the service experience to be sub par. With the exception of one very friendly man with a great beard you can expect anything brought to the table to be tossed on the table instead, mumbled sentences, coffee tossed out into the bushes behind you and an over arching sense of not giving a flying fart about you or your visit. Plus it's not exactly cheap.
But the food was pretty good
