The food is great, if only a little pricey for what it is. It reminds me of a place that my grandparents would take me as a kid.

Favorite place to meet the girls for breakfast! Went there yesterday and had Dawn as our server. She is absolutely wonderful and truly makes your day. She alone is worth going back! This is a good local place to go for breakfast!
I ordered a hamburger and it was delicious. Congratulations to the chef, and the service and attention were excellent. I highly recommend it.

We have taken our 2+ year old grandson on several occasions to The Garden Gate Cafe. Fantastic - great staff and food! And the bonus is the bucket of cars for him to play with while waiting for our breakfast order. We are new to the area, and thrilled we found this spot. Congratulations on 25 years!

The servers were kind and efficient. Very attentive. The kitchen was very fast. However, the prices don’t match the food quality in my opinion. Very mediocre to lousy food, and the kind of restaurant coffee that shouldn’t be actually called “coffee”. We want to support local, and we understand that Niwot is the high rent district, but this isn’t worth the coin for us.

The service and ambiance was great. However, the food was bad. We ordered a savory crepe with mushrooms, spinach and bacon. It was filled with a giant log of cream cheese that ruined the dish. The crepe was too thick, like a pancake that they rolled up. Spinach and mushrooms were not chopped up or seasoned. The Rueben we ordered had far too much thousand island dressing. Waitress was very nice though!

We rode our bikes from Longmont, sat in the outdoor patio, had great service and a delicious breakfast! I would highly recommend the Garden Gate Cafe for a yummy breakfast or brunch.
My wife and I stayed in Niwot for a series of concerts over the 4th of July weekend, and enjoyed breakfast here after the quaint Niwot 4th of July parade. Despite there being a big event in town, we were quickly seated, served almost immediately, and everyone was pleasant and polite. If you are craving a small-town diner breakfast with a large menu and selection, I highly recommend it.

Wished I lived closer. I'd never cook! Lol
I've now given this place a try, three times now. The food is always just OK and very overpriced. The service is what needs improvement the most.
Long time breakfast staple in a wonderful community
Wow, this place has really gone downhill!
It’s too bad too. It has always been overpriced for breakfast, but in the past at least you could count on having a decent experience and getting decent service. It seems to have been gradually going downhill for the past year or so. The current staff is not shy about letting you know how little your presence means to them. There is zero ambiguity to the fact that they would much rather be somewhere else.
You know how it feels when your drink goes untended for the majority of your meal. And then when you do get a refill it’s practically tossed at you, no wasted effort with regards to grace. Or how it feels when you just need a togo container, but you can’t figure out what on earth happened to your waitress. Or you need change, if only there was someone to help. Welcome to The Garden Gate Café folks.
Have you ever finally had to walk up to the counter to request a togo container, only to have TWO employees BOTH turn their backs to your request and pretend like they don’t care? News Flash! They actually don’t care and they are unconcerned about who knows it. There must be either an absence of ownership, an absence of standards, or both.
Either way, don’t waste your money here folks, it is not appreciated! The chef is decent, but prices have been raised both upfront and through portion reduction. Save your money!
This restaurant is not safe for diners with food allergies. I asked before ordering if the eggs, hash browns, and bacon could be made DF. I confirmed once the food arrived and was told it was dairy free. I’ve been sick since shortly after I ate and am covered in hives. The food was fine, but definitely not good enough to justify a full blown allergic response.
